Good to see Rio doing his part, if we didn't have the Doc Brown of football managers with his left foot weirdness I'd be very happy to see a Smalling/Stones partnership, nice mix of brute force and athleticism with footballing skills and elegant footular weapons from a more civilized age!

For f*ck sake man - we're now gonna have to change the narrative for the launch of "Robostriker"

:nono:

Absolutely Dev - it's a no-brainer offer we should be making & Evans should be up for it too, as it's a great club & he wouldnt have to move house either..

Evans could do very well at the Toffees - all our players that have went there have been so far; well apart from Gibson - who was born injured ffs.

Would love to see him stay injury-free for a couple of seasons & see what he's really made of, because no-one's really ever had the chance to see it - that includes our national team too..

It would be great for both players I think as neither would have any personal upheaval. Sadly Stones not being left footed may well cost us this one.

I think Evans would do well with the lesser pressure of playing for Everton.

It sounds stupid and the story is 99% likely to be fake, however two £100m bids wouldn't be as silly as it seems. The value of the £ to the € has risen, so the second £100m bid would have been more valuable to Real Madrid in euros than the first. If that makes sense?
Let's just buy Europe, then we can dictate the exchange rate and make a £100m offer they can't resist.
Although it wouldn't take long for the media to put out a story:
"Gaitan to replace Europe for United"

We're either quietly confident that Ramos is coming, or LvG wasn't paying attention to our defence last season.
well he has been known to take risks with defences before.

This would be a huge jump though, if anything just sell evans at least.

thinking that our current CB options are good enough.

especially when we still face the risk of losing de gea.

It's not naive, at least not more naive than thinking that you improve a defense by purchasing a defender. From what I see our defenders are individually good but collectively average, the solution for us isn't on the market but on the training ground and we won't find that solution with LVG.

Our defense wasn't the main problem at all last season.
The midfield had issues but teams still drove our CB's crazy and the defending looked very shambolic and unorganised last seaosn.

De Gea's cushion is clouding people's judgement.

Both Ribery and Robben are injury prone and not exactly young.

I know but Pedro most likely wants to make the Spain team, there is always the possibility Ribery or Robben can keep themselves fit this season.

Pretty sure if your goalkeeper is getting player of the year twice then something isn't right with your back 4.

Just saying.

When you have the team who concede the least chances, your defense is doing something right.

Wait what ? I could believe that tbh as a fair few goals were from mistakes the defence had made and rather than the opposing team's ability. Doesn't change much though.

We had the fourth best defensive record last time i checked. Wouldn't even mind being 4th best if we had the real firepower up front.
