Are you trying to reinforce my point? In what world have defenders consistently been sold for more than attackers? Last I checked, player prices increase by the year and not decrease. Circumstances different? You sleeping under a rock? PSG have wanted di Maria everyday for the last 390 days, that in itself demands £50million.

Drink some red bull and take a nap, buddy.

Nah hes right mate. We got a fair price.

Remember how strong the pound is as well. From a PSG point of view its a lot of euros. This transfer has ended up making sense, so does the fee.

I think you need to chill out a bit.

I think with the current state of the squad we would be thick to let Young leave, at times he was our sole attacking threat (Palace away) OK fair one he's not as good as some top players but he has the ability to beat players, cross and scores the odd goal as well. He has also added work rate to his game and defensive play which is great to see.

If we sell Young we will definitely be bringing in another winger as it would leave us with Depay, Januzaj, Lingard, and Mata. Not enough at all if we intend on playing 433 all year.

You cannot compare 2 entirely separate transfers. It's an utterly worthless argument for simpletons. Really surprised how many people struggle with this.

Yes you can. If I were Ed Woodward, I'd be looking at the fact that PSG have paid £50m for Luiz, 42m euros for Silva etc. and thinking that they have enough to pay £50m+ for di Maria.

Its not rocket science, which you seem to think it is.

I am not stressed, though?

Going by your post, it's great to see how we're worried about PSG's budget.

Silva and Luiz were before the fine for breaking FFP rules and just few days ago the court decided in favour of the FFP, of course they are going to change.

Anyway, there must be some bonuses included.

For those asking: no chance whatsoever of Benzema leaving Real Madrid this summer (so no way he will go to Arsenal)

Selling Ashley Young makes no sense to me whatsoever. If that goes through then I'm truly stumped.

£17-20m for Pedro is a fantastic bit of business. He will give us so much more than the sulky Argie waster did.

Why do teams still want to sign Adebayor? He'll have a few decent games but thats it.

If we buy Pedro then I would say it would be the right thing to do, problem is if we end up selling Di Maria, then may be we are better off keeping him as backup.
I really hope we get Pedro, I've seen too many potential deals go down the pan so far this year though so I'm trying to not think about it too much.

Makes sense. Lambert's a very good option for a team that are aiming for more of a mid-table finish, but he hasn't really impressed at Liverpool and won't be good enough if they're aiming for a top 4 place, other than for backup perhaps. Might as well sell him if someone else is interested.

I'd also pretty much guarantee no one for saw the complete collapse of the euro against the pound. You can't expect PSG to pay more because our currency is stronger, that's simple economics. I'm sure ed has negotiated pretty well to get what were getting

Very true. People expecting to recoup near what we paid in Sterling shouldn't be surprised that we don't. You've got to go on the Euro figure.

Don't let common sense get in the way of all the caftards crying in the ADM thread about how Ed is getting fleeced by PSG...

No you precisely can have them pay more to compensate for it. Just like how we had to pay more to selling clubs to compensate for when the pound collapsed against the euro circa 2007 (going from £1=€1.50 to ridiculous £1=€1.10).

Regarding Euro exchange difference - AdM's salary presumably is currently being paid in Sterling, if he moves to PSG then presumably his salary will be paid in Euros which will be less because of depreciation in the value of the Euro, points under discussion with Mendes?

Since when do clubs have to reimburse others for their mistakes? Because that was the only way we were getting what we paid for AdM. The simple fact is that he wanted out and he had a mediocre season at best. How much we paid for him is really irrelevant. It would be like Chelsea demanding 50 millions for Torres! If Di Maria was an undisputed world class player, maybe we can make the argument that he just had a bad season but he only was ever considered world class or played like one for 6 months of his entire career. We made a mistake paying that much for him last year in what was a clearly desperate attempt to get a big name signing to boost morale and whatnot. It did not work out and the club should actually be applauded for cutting its losses and rectifying the mistake it made without too much financial loss.
