There's a real chance Angel Di Maria will leave Manchester United for PSG, talkSPORT told by French football expert Jonathan Johnson

“PSG will now turn their attentions to Angel Di Maria,” he told Extra Time.

“There appears to be genuine interest from PSG in Di Maria, and there is a very real chance Manchester United will allow Di Maria to move on after just one season.”

Louis van Gaal drops striker hint: http://bit.ly/1Otxjn1 #MUtour

Speaking after the Club America win last Friday, the Dutchman discussed his options up front and explained he is happy to have Wayne Rooney, James Wilson and Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez in his squad. However, he also said “maybe there comes a surprise, you never know".

During his pre-match press conference for Tuesday’s ICC match against San Jose Earthquakes, van Gaal was quizzed on his comments about a surprise signing and asked if the club has made any further progress with it in the transfer market.

“He is in the process,” said the boss. “It's not the striker the media has written about. You have to wait and see. The transfer period is open until the 1 September so we have to wait.”

The manager was also asked about the possibility of the club signing Sergio Ramos from Real Madrid. "I cannot talk about these rumours. I have said in a lot of press conferences that it's a process. Maybe Mr Ramos is in the process - you never know.

Newcastle announce the signing of Aleksandar Mitrovic from Anderlecht. £13m reported fee.

They genuinely seem to think we'll bend over and let them have him for relative peanuts, don't they? He'll be with us, on the 25th, and we'll probably then finally get some closure on this tedious 'saga'...

Hang on, haven't PSG already turned their attentions to Di Maria? Didn't L'Equipe and La Parisien announce that he'd be a PSG player by the weekend just been? Didn't they also report that PSG think we're "very greedy" and asking for too much money?

Yeah TalkSport really have no idea do they? They really do expect United to just roll over and let Di Maria go for a huge loss. I think Di Maria will still be here next season personally

It seems to have got to the stage now where the media push, or even invent, bids just so they'll have something to write or talk about. The knock-on effect of this policy might be something like the Beneteke-for-United story, which may have encouraged Liverpool to pay too much.

I'll be honest, I'm not convinced of Otamendi. He had one super season at Valencia, but was barely worth a mention while at Porto, hence they sold him for little over €10m to Valencia last season. I can understand if Ed doesn't want to pay £35m for him and LVG remains to be convinced if he's the right buy.

Ducker, Ladyman and that guy from MEN says he's not even on our list.

Sounds like the kind of name you'd make up to sound more English.

Kind of like Jock McSporran if you wanted to sound Scottish or Paddy O'Guinness if you wanted to come across as Irish. I'm not sure I can trust a guy with such a stupid name.

The Ramos deal seems to be our #1 priority in terms of CB's. I guess we were considering Otamendi after Hummels proved to be a no-go but when the possibility of signing Ramos came up, we jumped at the chance. Now, seem more like the club and his agent are trying to drum up some interest in him and I wouldn't be surprised if he signed with City

I agree that all of our eggs are in the Ramos basket, defender-wise. I think there is more chance of us not signing one, or possibly making a move late on if it looks dead in the water, than moving on from Ramos to sign an alternative.

It wouldn't be a transfer window without Man City buying a CB, I think they've done it every year since 2007.

They don't have a great record. But think they do need to strengthen this season.

Kompany has declined last two seasons, and he's injured a fair bit. Mangala is terrible and Demichellis is 34. Don't think they have anyone else?

Denayer is supposed to be pretty good.
