Pedro is a good player, but Barcelona asks too much money, at least in my opinion his performance , explosiveness and even luck are not the same for more than two years ago.

Is £22m really a lot in this day and age?

From the limited evidence I've seen of Pedro, he seems to fit the profile of an LVG-style player. Positionally excellent, disciplined and consistent when called upon. You know exactly what you're getting when he's called upon - I can certainly see him as part of the 'philosophy', which is more than can be said of ADM.*

*This is no way a criticism of ADM. He's the kind of player that can give you a 10/10 game one match and 4/10 the next. He also lacks the tactical awareness and defensive discipline to fit into a system like LVG's, which is why he seemed to struggle last season. He would do better at a team which plays opposite of the 'controlled chaos' type football that LVG seems to prefer. I'd be equally happy if ADM stayed though, but I think Pedro is more suited to the system.

Looking at it that way maybe not, pound is very strong ,but for me 30m€ is a price that doesn´t correspond to his recent performances, I would pay 15/20 €. If the club can afford, then why not,he could give some very good performances for the 1/3 the cost of Di Maria however I´d look for another player (I like Tello)

What do you mean by familar stance?

Would people be happy with Pedro and Otamendi as our final signings? Guardian claiming we will activate his release clause..

Yes woody. This is the end game. Messi. Offer 150m and a contract for the gods.

Messi would be Woodwards Moby Dick. If there were a Rocky like Woodward training montage, it would be Messi's picture on the bathroom mirror he rips down, Woody running up hills screaming Leo's name.
If he were to be successful he would climb up on the roof of Old Trafford, look down upon the lands and weep, for there were no more worlds to conquer.

Pedro turns 28 soon which is strange as it doesn't feel like he's been around that long. Not sure how I feel about it if it was to happen. 5/6 Years ago when he appeared to burst onto the scene, he always popped up with goals...but I think he's one of them who wouldn't produce anywhere near as much when he isn't in that Barcelona as he appears to have benefitted from the system and the outstanding players around him as opposed to being the difference maker himself.

Hoping there's little truth in that myself. Would rather see the club take a £22m loss on Di Maria is a year's time if he has another shite season.

I'm one of Di Maria's biggest fans but if he does decide he wants to go i'd be happy with Pedro. Think with him on the right and Memphis on the left we would get to see quick football again. I would rather keep Di Maria but there is an argument Pedro would fit in better to a Van Gaal system and having been back up at Barca he would have his chance to show he deserves to be starting games.

With all the trophy strikers Barca have had over the years Pedro was never going to be a starter but it says a lot about his quality and attitude that he is still there. Looks to be underrated but for me looked as good in the Barca team as Sanchez and he never did badly last season. Big game player as well and would fit the Giggs criteria of being a winner.

Olé in Argentina are saying #MUFC are interested in signing a certain Lionel Messi: (pic va @Mourinholic)

Chaps, so I read the article. And it turns out that Ole are saying that the original piece which claimed that Leo was at odds with Bartomeu the presidential candidate favourite, was actually a fake created by one of his presidential rivals. And that they never said anything of the sort about United being in for Messi.

I know you're all heart broken because this seemed like a dead cert with Woody on the case.

Di Maria is a special player. Pedro is average. Average players can perform at a good level sometimes but no one can predict if pedro being an average player will perform at a good level for us. youre making a huge assumption. di Maria had one bad season and everyone just assumes that its over and he cant come back from it. very strange.

Why should united waste money on signing rejects/second string players from barca. we should be competing with barca for the best.

That's not quite what I was saying. Wasn't saying whether DM is a good or bad player, or whether it's over or not just judging him on last season, nothing more or less.

As for rejects, by your definition was DM not a reject from Madrid?

di Maria transfer occurred due to a contract dispute. I wouldn't call that being a reject. Moreover he started the majority of games for Real. If we sign Pedro we would be signing someone who sits on the sub's bench at barca. There's the difference.

98 goals in 318 games for barca. Played 50 times last year. There isn't much shame in being behind Messi, Neymar and Suarez either.

He was also a very important part of that first great barca team and scored against us in the CL final. I'm not saying i want him, but lets not pretend hes anything other than a quality player.

Di Maria squeezed out when Bale first and then Rodriguez came. Would have been on the bench. And if he was that important to Madrid they would have paid him what he wanted. Pedro sitting behind Messi, Suarez and Neymar. A lot of players would be rejects in that case. And also there's the example of all the quality Madrid have bombed out in the past who have gone on to remind everyone how good they are. If they are considered rejects, I'd take a team at least half full of rejects.

like you said madrid have a history of doing that. robben makelele and snjeider to name a few. for pedro theres no shame in being on the subs bench behind suarez or neymar but what about spain who dont have great forwards? he hasnt been able to make his mark there either. di maria was motm of the CL final and was an integral part of real's lineup even when bale was around. because Bale does not play in di marias position so that certainly did not squeeze di maria out. yes rodriguez's arrival does affect di maria but he was a Fiorentino signing not an ancellotti singing. and if di maria had stayed ancelotti would have most likely played di maria anyway. no one in the squad agreed with selling di maria..thats well documented. pedro will not be a huge miss will he? that fact of the matter is that pedro os an average player. and if we really have to go for him we should at least exhaust all other world class options (eg. reus/greizmann) before settling for him.

50 appearances doesnt mean 50 starts. he comes on for the last few minutes and plays in the less competitive matches. his development has tailed off since he scored against us. If his development since then would have been good, barca wouldnt need to invest in suarez. the truth is hes an average player playing for a great team. we should at least try to sign reus/griezmann and if that doesnt work we should then go for pedro. theres no way he should be a priority signing.

I don't disagree but i don't think hes as bad as a lot of people are making out.

I would like to see us go for Griezmann or de Bruyne personally.
