While obviously LVG is entertaining, and very certain of himself, I am quite sure he is not right about everything. Valdes' attitude certainly hasn't come across as bad at all.

If he said he was left behind for fitness purposes, we might be stuck with him and his attitude. I presume they want it well and truly known he is up for sale. LvG is the boss, you cannot have players trying to rule the roost and dictate how they train or what games they play in. Valdes of all people should know what LvG is like. The rest of the players sure as hell know now and god help any who try taking him on.

I can't see why some people are having a go at LvG for what he said about Valdes. SAF was, on many occasions, totally ruthless in shipping a player out who wouldn't tow the line. He also regretted it on occasion too.

Maybe LvG feels both betrayed and let down by Valdes ? We have paid Valdes a lot of money to do a job - and his job consists of doing what the manager tells him to do, even if that means playing at a level lower than he is used to. After roughly 3-4 months at the job he decides he doesn't want to do the job he is asked to do - still LvG lets him both train and play a match. And when he is asked - he answers truthfully.

You have to admit though that LVG had a right to take it personally because it was their personal relationship that made LVG reach out and help Valdes out in the first place. The buck should have stopped at LvG and he should have kept it in-house. Maybe a dressing down in front of the team would have served a purpose, but not in front of the media.

All big managers fall out with people. Mourinho guardiola SAF even Benitez. Lvg is liked by most players. The only players who don't like him are players who expect preferential treatment like Ribery ibra Rivaldo Toni etc. most others like kluivert Davids schweini lahm even the current players seem to like him. Maybe falcao di Maria or Valdes will have bad things to say about him at a later point of their lives but you can't make everyone happy

You're all exactly right, what LVG shouldve done was either hidden the truth from the supporters completely, lied to the reporter who asked a direct question, or left us all in the lerch about it. Honestly, why should LVG spare the feelings of a player who refused to play for us whilst simultaneously taking a wage and using our training facilities to get himself fit?

Club football is a tough world and managers have to make lot of tough choices. Van Gaal mentioned his disappointment in Valdes. I don't think he did it with pleasure, openly talking about Valdes.

Anyway, I'd argue that it's far more unprofessional to take a contract then refuse to do what's required of you by the manager.
