Non starter in my book. They've already said they won't sell another player to us after Bastian fecking Schweinsteiger. Not to mention in a time where quality #9's are a rare breed can't see Bayern letting there's go.
Thats just face-saving bluster to soften the blow of selling someone of Schweinsteiger's stature within the club. If Lewa wants out and Bayern are happy to let him go then it will happen. If they dont want rid it wont happen but it will have nothing to do with the Schweinsteiger sale.

Just feel it'll have a similar taste when Fergie told Ronaldo I can't sell you this summer cause of the circumstances, yes he did leave in the end but it was ultimately on our terms. In this case I'd expect the same from Bayern even if Lewandowski did want out (which I doubt he does).

To be fair I do not see the logic in signing Stones when we have Smalling, Jones, McNair and Blackett... We need different type of CB. More experienced.
Stones is miles better than Blackett and McNair IMO. If there's a deal to be done for him we should replace Evans with him and still sign an experienced centre back.

Perhaps, but with Ronaldo I think it was how active Madrid were in unsettling the player via the media and via tapping up that pissed SAF off. While Bayern wont be happy to lose Schweinsteiger, I dont think you can accuse United of leading a media campaign to force the move (like Madrid do even now with De Gea).

But I agree as well that i doubt Lewandowski wants to leave.

I like Benteke but hopefully we're not foolish enough to pay 32 million for him.

Player valuations are rising season by season. Clubs are richer than ever, FFP is toothless, yesterdays £10 million is todays £32 million. I think he's the man we''ll turn to if Lewandowski is a non starter...

Lewa > United
Di Maria > Bayern

I can see that going down tbh...

I'd take that all day long

While I tend to agree that he is better than McNair and Blackett, there are still Jones, Smalling, Rojo and possible Otamendi/Ramos. Where is the place for him?

Anyone on earth who thinks replacing Di Maria with Gaitan is a good idea needs to be put into a mental hospital.

I wish a new caf rule would censor anything Gaitan related.
I don't want to lose Di Maria at all. I don't know much about Gaitan, despite his name being persistently linked with us, but if we did have to sell Di Maria, then I think we could do a lot worse than bringing in Pedro. It might not be a like-for-like replacement, but he'd provide striking depth and he has a proven pedigree.

He'll be forcing a move but not this Summer. Next year or in two years he'll definitely be asking for a move.
Based on what? He turned down numerous big clubs to join Bayern, even staying at Dortmund for a final year to get his move. He's at one of the world's biggest clubs and most dominant teams.

I wouldn't be against the idea of Benteke joining us at all. Been carrying Aston Villa single handedly for too long now. And he's only 24! He's tall, quick enough and good at shielding the ball. I'd take him. Don't care for the fee.

There was a lot of commotion this afternoon after Christian Benteke appeared to favourite a tweet from a Manchester United fan.

The Belgian striker has been linked with many clubs, including Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham, since it was announced his contract with Aston Villa included a £32.5m release clause.

The tweet, from @FutbolFinn, stated that Benteke was “exactly what we (Manchester United) need tbh [sic], just needs to be backup to Rooney”.

Sport Witness picked up on this straight away and decided to double check with Benteke's agent Kismet Eris, who said that any Manchester United interest was “not true at all”.

It may not be the huge, long denial quote that everybody expects from agents and wants to read, but it's enough to give you an idea about where Benteke might not be heading this summer.

Of course, there is still 6 more weeks of transfer window left and things could very well change, but for the time being, Benteke's camp are adamant that Louis Van Gaal is yet to report an interest in the 6'3” Belgian forward.

Tom Coast.

As if..... we'd never sell to a direct rival someone of that quality.
As if what? No one ever claimed we'd be keen to sell to one of our biggest rivals. It seems very likely that City looked into the idea of trying to nab him though given we've got 2 different sources in the Times and Telegraph claiming so.

Exactly because of that, he forced a move to Bayern and let his contract run out after two years of saying that he needs to be at a bigger club, disrespecting Dortmund. His agent made a complete show out of it.

I wouldn't mind Aubameyang. He's abit hit and miss but imagine the pace in the front three with him, Memphis and ADM, nobody is catching them on the counter

Yes but he forced a move from a smaller club to a European super power who could pay him much higher wages.. There's not really much to suggest he'd try force his way out of the team he chose over numerous other offers.

Fair enough. For some reason a lot on here seem offended by the idea that City might have thought about making a move for him, and hence are desperate to write it off as bullshit.

why would Arsenal need someone like Aubemeyang he's the last player they need, they have got Walcott, Welbeck, Sanchez, Ox and another 4 potions to play at the position he plays. Obvious bullshit

Aubameyang was strongly linked with Arsenal last month as well, in a £27m deal iirc. I think there's probably something to it.

Definitely not offended by it. In this day and age you'd have to be a fool to be offended at a top club having serious aspirations. Obviously most United fans would take Aguero from City in a nano-second, so, it's only fair.

Arsenal will not be buying Benzema, Lacazette or anyone in that stratosphere.

Also, people dismissing Di Maria to PSG outright are being rather naive, I feel. Had a terrible year on and off the field and van Gaal might not see him being of any real importance to us moving forward. If you're not going to be a huge part of a managers plan and you're worth £40m+ which someone is interested in paying, you're always going to at least consider it.

Not offended, but definitely bs. Two different sources of british media don't add up to "very likely" in my books.
