which targets do you think they should pursue for CM (not named Pogba)

If we're looking at HG players then Wilshere is the best candidate but also the most costly and difficult to sign by some distance. I think he's overrated but I strongly dislike the guy so perhaps I'm letting that blur my judgement. At any rate, he'd still be a good signing. Slightly similar case for Barkley whose a very raw talent but would cost a lot. Will Hughes at Derby could be decent but I fear he wouldn't play enough and we'd only stagnate his development.

Looking away from HG talents, I'd still want a young signing seen as Toure, Fernandinho and Fernando are all knocking on a bit. I like the look of Tielemans at Anderlecht but again, with his age he might struggle to dislodge the others. A couple of players with more experience that could be very good signings Gonalons at Lyon and Krychowiak at Seville.

It was reported not 2 days ago that Madrid would owe De Gea 10m if they didn't sign him this year
They're doubling down on bullshit over there

I was genuinely surprised you weren't in for Schneiderlin.

Looks like De Gea's staying and they're using the reward money as the excuse as to why he won't be leaving haha.

I like the way Madrid are trying to make it look like its their decision if DeGea stays for another year lol. What a perfectly cringeworthy club they are.

of all the bunch i always thought Wilshere was who you would have went for. hes home grown and can actually play football well. Arsenal may not be keen to sell. Problem with going non Home grown for you lot is that you have quite a few foreigners in your squad already. Surprised you weren't in for Schneiderlin.

I'd forgotten he was HG. Yeah, I'm not his biggest fan to be honest, I rate Fernandinho slightly higher than him, but the difference isn't huge and given he's younger and HG I wouldn't have too many qualms if City had signed him as a starter. Perhaps we considered him but United had already turned his head, there's no denying he'd have been ideal for our situation.

Fair play to Marca. They know how to pick the right photo for their cover. De Gea looks so unhappy and its obviously been pissing down. Its psychologically telling you "Manchester is a place he hates. Even the weather is crap/"

To be fair there's a few reasons to ward anyone off Wilshere, most noticeably his off-the-pitch antics and injury troubles.

Fair enough.. Let me add one more point and see if that helps..

Adidas is going to pay us 75M a year..

Currently in our squad, we have Di Maria, Basti, Schneiderlin, Jones, Shaw, Young, Blind and Herrera who are sponsored by Adidas..

Wouldn't Adidas like to portray the British record signing along with Basti front and center when they release the new kit?!

These two are with all due respect to Jones, Young, Shaw, Herrera, Blind and Morgan the most well known players around the world..

We have seen how Madrid have Ronaldo off the side and Bale front and center due to contractual obligations of not making a Nike guy front and center..

So it will be Di Maria and Basti with others like Mata and Rooney on the side..

Unless we are singing Messi or Bale as our marquee signing to unviel the Adidas deal, I dont see us selling AdM..

Of course this is a reason of non footballing kind if you are looking for something like that.. :)
Mata is with Adidas! ;)

It is like the French media is wishing a transfer, trying to link PSG President's last year quotes and try to make 1+1 = 4.789

And I think the English media is just ticked with Woody and United for keeping them in the dark over all these transfers and cutting them off completely that they are all too willing to try and egg this transfer on..

Hence we probably see AdM called a Flop, try to quote a low price to show United and Woody in poor light. Try and create a storyline of how him and his family don't like it in Manchester. How they dont speak the language and how AdM is being left out..

Di Maria has come out and said multiple times how he wants to stay and prove his critics.

We are on the verge of creating a squad worthy of our stature and ADM is part of that vision.

Even if we do end up selling him for some reason, do you think Ed Woodward, the man who was responsible initially for all those sponsors being brought in, would not see the potential to make PSG pay through their nose or at least ask a few pieces of their squad back as a bargaining?!

For people pointing to how bad we sell some of our players for low prices, we offloaded RvP and Nani for small fee because we wanted to clear their big wages. I heard without Falcao, RvP and Nani, we save about 30M£ in yearly wages.

But United went big on Di Maria. He is a British record signing and a marquee signing. No way are we going to give up on him that easy or sell him for less than what we paid for.

If we are haggling with Madrid on a player with just a year left on his contract, why would we even consider a bid way less than what we paid for from a club which the world knows can pay what they want for a player with years left on his contract??!

Absolute non story created and willed on by media to make us and woody look bad at this.

For crying out loud, Woody just pulled off three signings in 3 days and some still believe we'll just roll over for some Nueve Rich club, who also are going to be a contender for the big ears?!

By Thursday, expect our manager to reject all claims about this. If we do sell, expect us to recuperate the fee we paid plus some.

I know this Gaitan story is like the chewing gum stuck under the sole of our boots and is just not going away, but don't think this is happening.

Now, if they offer Thiago Silva AND Lucas Moura for AdM... Maybe we can think about it.. ;)

Good post thats pretty much how i see it also. I posted a few pages back the media seem to be trying to will this transfer to happen for some reason.

I have absolutely no doubt PSG want him and they may be the driving force behind the french stories. But for me i just don't see us wanting to sell, certainly not for £40m anyway it just makes no sense.

If we were open to selling ADM why wouldn't we have used him as a bargaining chip to try to tempt Bayern for Muller or Lewandowski. Bayern want him also and we were talking to them for Bastian.

I mean Di Maria said he wanted to stay in an interview just a few weeks back that sounded a bit more genuine than the usual ''i'm happy, i have a contract, blah blah'' that players usually come out with.

Bullshit. Madrid aren't strapped for cash, I'm sure they'd be happy paying 25 extra million euros (added to the €5 they'd reportedly reward him with) to have De Gea for this season.

I don't know why they'd offer a reward anyway... if they don't want De Gea this summer then it's up to them to stop their advances on him, then he'd stay at United anyway?! Unless it's an incentive to not sign a new contract or something.

I wouldn't mind for this to happen though, I think we'd be a brilliant team next season with our new signings (probably plus a centre back) and with De Gea between the sticks. We could bring in someone in January if De Gea is definitely leaving for free next summer.

I have tried this, but the box was already unchecked. I can't see any tweets on my home computer. Is it a Google setting perhaps?

Turn off adblock and see if it works. If yes, turn it back on and try each of the checked lists separately.

Like i said yesterday, 2 steps forward and 1 step back, typical UTD.
Talk about putting a real stinker on our transfer window, DeGea is next.

Never change man.

Goal.com (and the entire business associated with it) is the worst of the worst. Not saying this Di Maria thing isn't true, but I know an editor who works for Goal and, to put it mildly, they are full of shite.

God, Marca truly are the tabloid embodiment of Madrid. They're both so shameless it's laughable. I'm actually surprised players look at that club in a good light. I mean, I understand they're the most successful club in Europe, but how the politics doesn't turn off most is baffling. They're essentially ran by a "mafia" who treat their players with little to no respect. Vile Sepp Blatter types run that club.

The print edition of Marca explains that those 5 m€ have been agreed to avoid De Gea renewal in case that he can´t come this summer, they write that as in theory can not negotiate with de Gea , this money would be included as a bonus in his contract for being a free transfer. They say that Manchester thought that at this point Madrid would have agreed to pay 40 million euros or negotiate for Ramos-Navas.According to the article the plan A of Madrid is still getting Gea , but if not , they would be fine with a transition year with Navas and Casilla. They also write , in an adjacent article that if Casilla is too expensive, Sergio Romero could be a possibility.
About Sergio Ramos, el Confidencial just published an article (http://blogs.elconfidencial.com/dep...-hablar-de-amor-cuando-solo-es-dinero_927450/ ) saying that Florentino wanted to get rid of both Iker and Sergio, however the events of the last days with Iker have changed his idea. They write that the president was surprised with the chants "Florentino resign" which had not happened in 13 years. They insist that the only offer received for Ramos came from a law firm in London,40 m€ and was rejected. Florentino won´t sell for less than 80m€ while United limit is 50€, and therefore they are already looking for other options.

If Madrid are really trying to induce De Gea to not sign a new contract by offering a large signing bonus, then I hope they are prepared for a dangerous and hostile precedent they are setting. I don't see United taking this sort of thing lying down. We are right at the top of the financial pyramid now, and if Madrid want to play these underhand games, then I can see Woody giving Perez a taste of his own medicine down the line.

Regardless, 5M euros is an offer we can easily top to sign a new contract.

I can't decide if Madrid are just a really shit club, or if it's all the doing of their president. He's always been a complete and utter bell-end.

Well exactly. If he actually extends his contract here, which I don't think he will, we're going to give him truckloads anyway. Either that's a really daft report or Madrid are really daft. I hope it's the latter.

If ADM is unhappy and doesn't want to be at the club Adidas are rather irrelevant. I think his happiness and personal situation is slightly more important than an Adidas photo.

But if he doesn't want to sign a new contract anything we offer doesn't really matter, as seen by the fact he is turning down £200k.

I'm not posting the tweet to stay in accordance to this thread's guidelines, but the guy who tweeted the Schneiderlin info Sunday afternoon and seems to have some sources looking through his profile now said something along the lines 'something I tweeted recently is about to happen soon'. That could point to the following things if I go through his tweets:

– Cavani coming in for Di Maria, we're signing Gaitan as AdM's replacement
– Hernandez is going to Valencia as part of the Otamendi deal
– We're getting serious about Bale

He's also saying he expects 'a possible 3 more in, 3 or 4 more out'.
