IF, and I think it is a big if, I don't think Romero would be coming in as first choice, it seems there is a lot of talk of Valdes leaving, so I think that would be the option if it happened

yeah alot of ifs, just never really rated him as i think Lindegaard is a good #2. but if we can get Romero for free and sell valdes and lindegaard i guess that sort of makes sense ?

I'd rather have George A Romero in goal than him, he'd move quicker even at 75.

Why are we being linked with so many South Americans at the moment? LvG doesn't have the greatest track record with South Americans.

Its Romero. As for Valdes, he's played 2 fixtures in a year. But yeah, he's better than Romero, who led his side to the WC final.
Romero led Argentina to the final?

Strangely enough, Romero has played very little club football himself recently. Only 10 league appearances this season, and 8 in all competitions the year before that.

Even without the penalties, he was very good during the games.

Romero was my go to goalie on FM.

Sign him up.

I'm assuming this will be a bit like last year where Ed flew out for the first few days then immediately high tailed it back to England to focus on transfers.

Or two years ago when he flew all the way back from Australia for 'Urgent transfer business' and we signed nobody.

Yes back in the Moyes era when Ed was a newbie. Fortunately, he's on fire these days so I'm expecting the best.

If they said "Manchester", it'll be us. Most players dont even know that the "Man" is for Manchester when it comes to City. I'm certain everyone outside of the United Kingdom think Man City is some kind gay rights statement. We are Manchester.

Ohhhhhh shit. We're in Seattle.

Unless Woody flies back for the urgent transfer business again.
Knock, knock. Eugenio: 'Strange. No one about... Hmm... I have an address here....Taxi Driver? Maine Road?'

Don't want. Missing out on Delph could prove worse than it appeared if it means we got hold to ransom by Everton for McCarthy, an average midfielder who excels at nothing. Never understood the hype around him.

The guy dominated us last year. He has his games where he is everywhere and absolutely unstoppable. Probably just 2 times a year the game raising cnut.

which targets do you think they should pursue for CM (not named Pogba)

McCarthy is a lot better then Delph, but yeah, he'll cost a hell of a lot more too.

Did you watch the WC ? Romero got them into the final with his penalty saves. If that's not leading them there then nothing is. Aguero and Di Maria weren't even in the final.
I reckon player of the tournament Messi led them to the final. Romero was good but I wouldn't say he led them.

He can be boo boo prone with added facepalm.

Yes Messi was good. My point was that Messi couldn't save their WC hopes in the Semis, whereas Romero did. The other two weren't even involved.

Good and logical post. I'm a worrier, though.

Fair enough.. Let me add one more point and see if that helps..

Adidas is going to pay us 75M a year..

Currently in our squad, we have Di Maria, Basti, Schneiderlin, Jones, Shaw, Young, Blind and Herrera who are sponsored by Adidas..

Wouldn't Adidas like to portray the British record signing along with Basti front and center when they release the new kit?!

These two are with all due respect to Jones, Young, Shaw, Herrera, Blind and Morgan the most well known players around the world..

We have seen how Madrid have Ronaldo off the side and Bale front and center due to contractual obligations of not making a Nike guy front and center..

So it will be Di Maria and Basti with others like Mata and Rooney on the side..

Unless we are singing Messi or Bale as our marquee signing to unviel the Adidas deal, I dont see us selling AdM..

Of course this is a reason of non footballing kind if you are looking for something like that.. :)

Thing is you just want someone to tick the home grown quota, Delph wouldn't have played much and he knew it, McCarthy would be the same, just another Rodwell, or Sinclair.

I don't know why you over complicate it by trying to make it look like you're buying a player you actually want, or will play.....just sign me for free, stick me on the bench from time to time, maybe bring me on when you're 4-0 up sometime, and pay me £100 grand a week, it'd all be far easier for you guys.

Funny thing is Mancini had faith in Rodwell, he started pretty much every time he was fit in spite of making mistakes in his first few games. He was injured for a bit and once he was fit again Mancini started him straight away in a match against Chelsea, where he actually played good for 45 minutes. Other than that he was crap and he's shown at Sunderland what the injuries have done to him, and their fans will tell you even in their horrid season he stood out for being particularly awful. All our English signings got opportunities. I honestly believe Delph would have been given a chance if we'd signed him, as would McCarthy. Sinclair was given starts against Dortmund and Arsenal for example but like Rodwell he was just poor.

The point is, with the exception of Richard Wright, when we sign an English player we actually want one who will be capable of providing genuine competition and doing a job if called upon. That's why Milner was perfect for us.
