Same COPE "article" that suggest Man United have asked for Bale and Varane also states that Madrid responded that they're not for sale.

Real: We'll be taking de Gea now. Here's €25m.
United: No...?
Real: Yes.
United: Fine, then WE'LL be taking Bale or Varane!
Real: No.
United: OK, sorry to bother you.
Real: How about Fabio Coentrao?
United: YES YES YE--er, um, yeah sure like, whatever.

Its a clause to block the permanent move if the player turns into a world beater. Athletico did the same to southampton with alderwield... or whatever hes called.
They already had him in their team last year and barely played him, has he really been that great for Porto this season (genuine question, haven't seen any of the Portuguese league)

Real are stacked in CM so you'd imagine they've only done this to sell him to someone else for more than 22.5m

Damn - we are signing the Alex Morgan :) Probably after she returns from the Female World Champs in Canada :)

Yeah but if they can sell him for that much it makes sense. I know nothing about the guy. Only the clause.

Ancelotti turns down AC Milan.

I'm a bit surprised by it, then again he's not really great at this building a team stuff and he'd have to build Milan from scratch considering the state they've found themselves in at the minute.

Spain's ABC said this morning that Man United had asked for €35m for De Gea but Real Madrid didn't want to pay more than €25m.

If De Gea wants to go he has to come out now and say it and Real Madrid must pay €35m by the end of next week or else we should just not sell to them regardless.

Leaving it too late to find a good replacement is dangerous and accepting anything less than €35m is selling him far too cheap.

If he ends up staying for 1 more year is not a bad thing. We may lose out on a few million but financially that isn't significant for us and we can use De Gea next year for the league and CL and we have more time to search for a good replacement.
