Gaitan - the rumour that never dies

This is a weird signing, if true. Seems more like a Chelsea type signing - Salah, Schurlle, Salah, Cuadrado, etc - then they hardly play and are sold on after a couple of years (except in our case we'll get next to nothing!)

Record and the other Portuguese media should really stop making up stories about Gaitan to United. It's the same shit every summer and no one believes it. There's absolutely no fecking way we'd sell Di Maria to PSG for 60 million euros and then spend half of that on a 27 year old winger who's still playing in the Portuguese league and has the grand total of 9 Argentina caps in 6 fecking years. For fecks sake, even Nani was better than him last season.

The agents are full of shit as well.

Hopefully nobody at the club has the idea of selling Di Maria and getting Cavani from PSG. Would explain the fecking Gaitan rumours.

again lumping the phrase "Di Maria - PSG". overwhelming bollocks in no more than a paragraph
@Arruda what kind of newspaper is Record?

Poor from BBC in that article saying Darmian isn't finalised. They're meant to be our transfer bible!

Doesnt look happy, his smile is forced.

Maybe he feels disrespected that he is made to sit with a youngster rather than bale or someone :p

Not only that, but why did we bin Nani for pennies, to then bring in Gaitan, who will probably cost 20-something million? It would be lunacy if true.

Benefica may feel we Owe them one. Didn't we make them pay for Bebe? :p

Not a very good one. None of them are though. We have 3 daily newspapers fully dedicated to sports, they resort to constant click-baiting news.

Gaitan would only make sense if we sold di Maria and signed a forward with the money.

Well it depends on Louis van Gaal's profile.

Juan Mata probably doesn't fit his profile for the RW position but he might for the 10 position (in a 4-2-3-1), Januzaj might be loaned, sold or converted to a central role, then perhaps if the price is reasonable Louis van Gaal will want a back up left footed RW.

The man wants to win the league this season and with the money he has to spend and control at the football club, he might even think he can win the champions league.

I doubt it will happen but I wouldn't be surprised.

Is De Bruyne a target as an alternative to Sterling or someone they want alongside?

I think a front four of Sterling, De Bruyne, Silva and Aguero has unbelievable potential. Sure they have to overpay for Sterling, but if Man Utd pay £32m for a young English left back, does it surprise you that Liverpool sell a young English attacking player for £40-45m?

sterlnig being a cock about this, can't even stay for pre season.

De Gea has been professional as feck, considering it's well known he's in favour of a move to madrid, eventually if not this year.

bayern are very interest and wolfsburg don't want to sell.

City's money won't help them there and their pogba dream is all but dead.

Benfica calls Ed:
Benfica - please take Gaitan, we'll take Rafael as part of the deal
Ed: Go away, that's 4 years running we've told you NO!
Benfica: Ok we'll call back next year, that way we can say negotiations are ongoing
Ed: Don't bother

That happened fast. Schneidelrin departure must be close too. Hopefully it is us.
Feels a bit like the Fellaini/McCarthy transfers, with Martinez being McCarthy's manager at Wigan and Koeman being Clasie's manager at Feyenoord. Both had good relationships at their former clubs so any transfers would be easy and quick to sort out

We've really upped the tempo these last few days on the transfer market.. Van Gaal was pretty serious about getting deals done early
