"United have identified the England international as the long-term successor to Wayne Rooney and have "opened talks" with the north London club, according to the Sun."

Yep saw that too though it does make sense if we're really letting RvP go. Problem would be that we'd get fleeced by Levy

Depends if they think that getting fleeced will be worth it in the longterm. If he is our striker for the next 10 years, it will be.

I'm all for this signing. Yes we could get fleeced but I really believe he is destined to become the top English forward so we could get years out of him. I do like Lacazette but I feel he will be Psg, Real bound if he does leave Lyon.

One good Xmas period and we're willing to spend 40m on him? I really do hope this isn't true... He needs at least one more season of consistency to be ready for such a move imo

Slowly but surely, The Sun, are creeping into caf as acceptable transfer sources. Which is amusing as they were massively despised on here all these years. :wenger:

What next? Acceptance for the The Express?

I don't think anyone takes them too seriously. Keep in mind the Kane stories started quite a while ago and died down. Now all of a sudden RvP leaving stories are picking up momentum. So it's not that people are taking the Sun seriously as such.

The problem is that if we don't go now, and he proves himself for an another season, then the price will ump from 40m (assuming that is now) to 80m or so. With the English tax, Levy tax, United tax all combined, it will be a new world record.

Even now, he will cost more than 40m IMO.

I am a bit mixed for this possible signing. In one side, I really rate Kane and I don't think that he is an one-season wonder. On the other side, he well may be so considering that he has performed well only for one season, and if we sign him and he turns to be an one season wonder, then we will be in a bad position.

That is the reason why I hoped we go for Vietto/Dybala instead. They aren't as good as Kane now, but they have high potential (like Kane). And even of they don't turn to be brilliant, it won't be a problem financial wise (especially Vietto who would cost less than 15m).

I don't get why he should ever be an £80 million pound player. It seems people automatically assume this because Spurs once sold a player for that much money, even though he was massively overpriced. He's a striker that scores goals, albeit for one season so far. It's mental that doing your job properly suddenly equates to such massive figures.

Someone needs to tell the twatter editor at the mirror that the donut joke stopped being funny about 3 years ago.

Someone needs to tell Rado_N that substituting "twatter" for "twitter" stopped being funny about 3 years ago.

It's possible the delay is because he's waiting for Arsenal. Would go along with what that reputable French journo said.

That'd be a pretty depressing turn of events if true, Schneiderlin should be waiting on us, not the other way round.
