Professional players will never play badly just because they are angry at the club for not letting them go. When you walk out onto the pitch no one goes with a mindset of 'lets play badly because the club is not listening to me'. Its their reputation that gets damaged.

Focus on the future with Valdes or someone else instead of putting it on the long finger until next summer.
Depending on a person who clearly doesn't want to be at the club doesn't sit right with me. Not questioning his professionalism, he'll hardly start throwing goals in.
But we've done the whole "Please stay for one more year!" thing before with Ronaldo but that was exceptional circumstances since he was one of the club's best ever players. I don't want to see it become a habit. And at least with him we got a fee from it.
De Gea back for pre season 
De Gea is exceptional he saved us so many points this season, having him for another season gives us protection needed to allow our defence to solidify and for us to finish the rebuild. He's been our player of the year twice.
Until he leaves and the the defence begins again with a new face behind them.
It always about now. I think everybody including you would agree that DDG is probably the best in the league now. So if we have him why won't we play him? If we improve our CB RB situation then DDG would arguably make us title contenders. why should we bench the best player we have simply to prove a useless point?
A back 4 that is familiar and can work well with eachother can handle losing a WC keeper. Our best back four right now can't handle losing De Gea.
He would be beyond beneficial for next season, especially if the aim is to lift titles. (not saying it's impossible to do it without him just imo alot harder)
