I don't see what all the fuss is about, Louis van Gaal said once before he can sign a player in 24 hours.

The positions of interest to us are GK, CB, RB, CM, LW and ST.

GK - This depends on whether De Gea leaves which in turn depends on whether Real Madrid give us a respectable offer. In the event of only a low bid from them it might make more sense to keep him for another season, even if he leaves Louis van Gaal might prefer Valdes instead of signing a new goalkeeper, of course some on here will disagree with that but LvG doesn't care.

CB - Otamendi is available but it appears as though Louis van Gaal's preferred choice is Ramos, most likely that is because he fits Louis van Gaal's profile for the position. Ramos for obvious reasons is going to be a tricky signing but he will be important if we do sign him, not just because he is one of the best central defenders in the world but also he is good with the ball at his feet, this is important to our system.

It's worth the wait for Ramos but of course it is also important we monitor Otamendi's situation and I'm sure the club are doing that, if the Ramos deal appears to be off then they will change their target.

RB - It is possible we were in for Dani Alves and pursued him first, even if we weren't there aren't many top right backs available. The manager might even stick with Valencia and Rafael if he cannot find a suitable upgrade, as for his opinion of Coleman I don't know.

CM - Schneiderlin appears to be very close, once done whether this week or next he will be ready to train after he passes the medical. This may or may not be dependant on Schweinsteiger, obviously the ball is in his court, Bayern want to keep him, we want to sign him.

LW - Done.

ST - With Rooney and RVP it doesn't make sense to sign a new player, if RVP leaves then it probably will do but not first choice assuming Rooney will play that position as opposed to 10.

A lot can happen in a week, we're not in a bad position at all right now.
Voice of reason.

Go away with your logic nonsense! Don't you know this is muppet season.

Without wishing to add to the pure sense you are talking it should also be noted that for 3 of our team it was their first season in the PL so they will hopefully be better adjusted this season and we had an awful run of injuries that we'll hopefully not repeat.

I can't shake this muppet feeling that we're in cahoots with Valencia over Otamendi. Like it's already done but Valencia are keep schtum for us to get Ramos while Madrid still think they can replace him with Otamendi.

Whether it's because we offered a little sweetner or because they enjoy the idea of getting one over Madrid. I'd love it!

I think the club is too fixated on signing big names and creating a marketable side, and maybe even creating a short term solution given Van Gaal is currently only here for two more years. That was the problem in Moyes' transfer window, they were obsessed with huge names and we didn't get any.

But it worked out last summer...

Surprising!

Do any of those Real Madrid fan polls ever result in a positive result (ie, a majority wanting to keep the player in question)? I've also seen polls recently for Ronaldo and Bale, both of which resulted in the fans voting in favour of selling both players. Wonder if you did a poll with Kroos or James and what the result would be

I used to rely on Sky to be apart from the rif raf but of late they hide behind 'sky sources' and have joined the circus!
Yep they used to be midway between the papers and the BBC, now they're much closer to the former.

I know what you mean, but Madrid fans are probably the most fickle in the world. That, and they know that they'll be getting a galactico replacement.

Every since Jim White and Benatia, I refuse to believe anything they say. They're no more reliable than The Mail, Sun, Daily Mirror etc. All spout nonsense.

The BBC is getting a little worse as well, inch by inch. They've had their Gossip Column where they report bullshit, or other people's bullshit, for a while. Now, however, their twitter entries are closer to bullshit as they link stories from their gossip column as click bait. Their front page is almost always reliable at least, but their tweets are usually just bad rumours.

I was really disappointed by that Jim White Benatia tweet ... if we had acquired a top tier CB like Benatia, we probably wouldn't have to enter the Champions League via a playoff.

Louis van Gaal is a bit of a muppet killer. He seems to like to keep things private until the last minute, take Ramos, there is obviously a lot going on as we speak but if nobody tells the journalists they resort to reposting what we already know but calling it 'new developments'.

The De Gea - Ramos saga would be epic if it was played out in public.

Without wishing to add to the pure sense you are talking it should also be noted that for 3 of our team it was their first season in the PL so they will hopefully be better adjusted this season and we had an awful run of injuries that we'll hopefully not repeat.

Yeah I was going to post that too, as you say players like Shaw, Herrera, Blind, Rojo and Angel di Maria should start the season better, and it's not a post world cup season, 3 of those 5 went far into the tournament last season as did our manager.

I can't shake this muppet feeling that we're in cahoots with Valencia over Otamendi. Like it's already done but Valencia are keep schtum for us to get Ramos while Madrid still think they can replace him with Otamendi.

Ramos and Otamendi would be amazing, we have the finances and our defence is clearly injury prone so it makes too much sense to happen.

They are more reliable but you have to separate the truth and the BS. Stories like a Jim White tweet are clearly BS and when they have stories that don't give facts like ''United are interested in X according to Sky Sources''

But if they put a story out saying Ramos to have a medical at United tomorrow you can pretty much rely on it being true.

What the hell happened with him? He was their best player, then suddenly he got a long term injury, disappeared from the first team and basically never came back, at which point they loaned him. He couldn't get a kick at Napoli and has now come back and is completely unwanted.

Apparently there was a bit of a devide in the dressing room with a lot of the Spanish speaking players not mixing with rest of the team. Not one player specifically but it was effecting the morale of the team so they decided to get rid of some of the main culprits. It's part of the reason monk got the job as he knew the players from his playing days.
