Do you think LvG will be content with Otamendi when the Ramos stuff eventually comes to nothing?

I'm starting to think this Ramos stuff might come to something :)

Otherwise in this market draught of good injury free defenders Otamendi for 50m Euro sounds reasonable. Great defender, ok passer but makes up a little for losing de Gea.

I haven't got me specs on, I thought you dug up an old photo of me.

But yes another super moment from Kev.

That image of him on the steps justifying his decision to the fans is always the first thing I think of when that transfer is mentioned.

Lunacy.

I'd love for that to happen, but I guess I'm pessimistic as we've been losers in these contract tactics before.

That's how I feel, there are so few good options in most positions that we may need to accept certain lower levels in regards to aspects of a players game, and try to accentuate their greater strengths.

Fabregas for less than what we were apparently willing to pay.

Maybe that's because Fabregas didn't want to play for your hero Moyes.

Your Woodward hate is on a level with Mad Winger's crazy lovein with Kagawa but in reverse. I sometimes wonder if you'd actually be happier that we (United) miss out on targets just so you can happily post in the Woodward transfer threads.

Everyone knows United is 1. Uber rich and 2. Desperate to get back to the top. United, in general, have always paid a 'United' tax as a biggest/richest club in England. Add to the fact that we were left in a shambles after the Moyes debacle, and it's no surprise that we have to pay top dollar to attract talent.

Good feelings about today... He says with nothing to base this on and not even a glimmer of transfer action in any paper or itk!
Still, good feelings...
I have a good feeling every morning going to work, thinking to myself this is the day we'll see news about us agreeing a deal with someone. :)
I cant go wrong, one day we'll get someone. :D

I don't hate Woodward, just have little belief in him when dealing with other clubs based on what I've seen so far. I also dislike his galactico style approach and 'wanting to make his mark in world football' through signing marquee names as journos were saying last summer.

I think their general point is that we seem to bid amounts that we all know will be rejected. Southampton are never selling Schneiderlin for anywhere near £20 mill.
Meaning that LVG has to start pre-season with last year's team

This is the first summer that we are not buying from a position of confusion and chaos. You're taking a pop at Woodward for doing exactly what he should be doing in negotiation (if the £20 million bid is true). There's only so long you can bang on about past deals.
I think it's more the time between bids

Please stop using De Telegraaf as a source, it's a national newspaper and they're absolutely garbage at transfer rumours (actually at everything, they have more articles with spelling mistakes than without). We would've signed Robben, Vlaar, Cillessen and Sneijder aswell according to them. I'd say they're like the Daily Star including horrible misleading headlines. Actually, that usually is their source.

Voetbal International is the most respected Dutch sports magazine and they work with legit sources.

IIRC, they broke LVG to us and were top of that negotiation before he joined.

Also broke Blind and Depay first with fees and all.

Though ofcourse depends on what reporter is reporting it and there is a major difference between fee/personal terms agreed articles and speculative is interested in ones.

For feck sake I'd wish we just signed somebody.

I'am already beyond the point that I care who it is we sign but get it done !

A whole season we get to hear, we are working hard on the transfer business for next summer, we really want to avoid late signings like last summer because it is so darn important every player is part of pre season and blabla. Everything started good in may with Depay signing and it seems like absolutley nothing is moving for us at the moment. I'll be surprised if we manage to get another signing done before we jet off to the US on the 17th. It is always the same with us every fecking summer !

Silly number however oyu look at it.
Not really. It is quite comparable with Di Maria (transfer + wages) and Muller has been better than Di Maria for practically their entire career. And also, they don't want to sell him which in theory makes transfer more expensive.

Caf

May - Only want to buy the best, get rid of the deadwood, is Messi a possibility?

June - Why haven't we bought anybody, let's keep the deadwood but buy proven players.

July - Buy any fecker, I don't care who, you want £60 for Joe Allen? Done dealio

I will be surprised if we buy anyone at all. :(

TW has been going om for ages....in other words calm down.

Seriously calm down we will do our business when we do it. I like this wall of silence. Means the press ain't getting a sniff and are proving they know nothing- shame they are not held accountable for the tripe they release daily regarding our club- if we had a quid for every daily express story that was false about us we could buy Ronaldo back.

If the transfer window closes and we have not added then worry...

Don't want to add to the misery, but I think we "jet off" on 13th July. So we in fact have even less time to get players in for pre-season.
Hope something will materialize in the meantime, but, like you, I'm far from convinced.

Think people are looking too much into the idea of getting things done by the tour. I know that is what lvg wants, but it really isn't always possible.

I think these two deals that were supposedly sorted before end of season were depay and Schneiderlin and that will be done by the tour. But any others will most likely be dragged on till end of window.

If ramos happens (it won't) that will drag right till the end of the window, as will de gea. It will be interesting to see if lvg plays him on tour.

I think if more signings were to happen by the tour, we'd have an inckling by now.

Inckling. Thats a word i never thought I'd write down

That would be still too much for Allen.

It's not as if there's only 1 flight to America in the whole of July.

You think Schneiderlin will be done by the tour?
Hope you're right; I would really like to see some movement on that front, so the player gets some sort of pre-season with us, but I'd also like to have players integrated into the squad in time for the pre-qualifying, CL, game in early August. That really does concern me, because if we draw the likes of Monaco or Lazio then our progress into the group stage would be far from assured.

I'm convinced Morgan will be done by the tour. I'm convinced it will be today or tomorrow. No idea why it just seems that after the furore of all the press hacks saying it was about to be done (clearly that came from a giddy ed) this bit where it goes all quiet is always a good thing because people (including agents) are keeping shtum.

Every transfer does the same thing, even look at recent ones like clyne-press went ape fir a couple of days as things started to happen (i imagine this is where the contract is agreed betwen the player and club) then the medical and legal stuff takes over which is when it goes 'quiet' for a week.

10 days is a very long time in the transfer window, we could sign 2 or 3 players or none, and if it's none it won't be because of a lack of time.
