Kane is the only real striker we have been heavily linked with. And that seems unlikely considering Levy and the fee they would want.

Might not be priority area i guess, unless LVG has given up on RVP. He likes playing 1 up top and Rooney as Captain gets special priviledges in LVG's word as it is.

In terms of other options there is Lacazzette as mentioned above.

Also Mauro Icardi And Antoine Griezzman. (Converted into a striker pretty much by Simeone successfully last season.)

Icardi just signed a new 5 year contract with Inter.

Thanks, that sounds like a cover name. :D It would be nice to see Milan rebound to give Juve some competition.

Yeah, I agree. Inter have money to spend as well, because of Erick Thohir. The Italian clubs are pretty active this summer so Serie A should be more competitive next season. It'd be good to see a strong Milan side return to the Champions League, after all they've won the thing seven times.

Thought for a second you were joking with that name..

But it is actually true...

yep, it's true :D

So this was true? I saw some tweet about him possibly failing the medical but there was no follow up so I figured it was a mistake. Are there any details on why he failed?

Superdeporte says he has been sent to Barcelona for further tests. So the transfer hasn't been called off yet.

Would anyone take a punt on Zlatan for 2-3 years? Rumours of him being unhappy in France and he's still better than anything we have at the moment by a stretch. Wouldn't be paying him any more than we were paying Falcao.

I noticed Inter were getting about as well, they got Kondogbia and are keeping Icardi and Kovacic, so hopefully Serie A will see the Milan's join the 2 Rome clubs in chasing Juve next season, even though it will take a while as Juve are very strong and have added players themselves.

Tbh, if the alternatives are the likes of a massively overpriced, under-performing Cavani and Benteke, I'd snap their bastard hands off.

Not a chance.

Him and Van Gaal don't get along.

So, does this Craig Norwood follow any other non United players?

To answer my own question, I just had a quick look though his twitter, and can't see any other non United players that he follows. Infact, he barely follows any United players as it is.

Surely this can't be a coincidence?

Interesting, I wonder what is wrong, maybe he can pay Neymar a visit while there for old times sake. :D
lol he owned Neymar apparently. But i read that he's had a serious injury since then. Could be related with this medical perhaps.

Serie A would be stronger and more competitive, but Juve will still walk the league, I agree. They've just reached the CL final and are already a stronger side with Dybala and Khedira. Milan and Inter are also forced to strenghten themselves as they finished the season 10th and 8th respectively. Berlusconi's hand was forced by the fans' protests and boycotts as well.

There are some reports that Mancini would like to bring in at least 8-9 new players this summer. They'd be very lucky to make the Champions League next season with so many new players, but it'll be interesting to see. Milan would also hope to make the CL next season, as going from finishing tenth to challenging for the league title is an almost impossible task.

It'd also be interesting to follow Napoli's progress next season with their new manager Maurizio Sarri. I don't think Higuain and Callejon will be at the club beyond the summer.

Yeah, he is nicknamed "The man who stopped Neymar" in Brazil. :D Shame to hear that, I've never seen him play but from the vids I saw he looks a bright young prospect.

Yeah it's a slow process for them all as Juve have created a canyon between themselves and the rest. However a more competitive battle for the other 2 top 3 spots would be good for their league, along with simply the prestige of having the Milan clubs as strong teams again.

Both need a pretty huge overhaul but I would think doing it across two summers would make more sense, aim for the top 3 this season and then take it from there next summer.

Calejon seems set to go to Atletico but I am not sure anyone will pay what Napoli want for Higuain, so they may still have their main striker heading into next season. I think for them and Lazio it might be a uphill struggle if the Milan clubs invest well.

Read the other day that we were put off by his 20m price tag. Surprising considering we'll have to pay that for Coleman.

Why would City sign a non-homegrown right back when they have Sagna and Zabaleta on the books who they won't be able to shift.

The Italian football presidents tend to talk shit in the media when it comes to the prices of their prized assets. I remember Roma's stance on Benatia last summer. Their chiefs were running their mouths slapping huge price tags on Benatie and in the end he left for Bayern for much less money. If Higuain wants to leave (and I think he does with no Rafa and no CL football), they'd sell him if they can at least recoup the £34.5m they paid to Real Madrid 2 years ago.

This is true, I just keep hoping that LvG will go against that and tell Rooney he has to compete to start like everyone else, otherwise we might as well have gotten someone like Bacca if all we want is a Remy type bench striker.
I don't see why this is necessary though. Rooney if played consistently up top is a still a 20/25 goals striker. There is a reason why most teams enter the season with a clear number 1 forward. It creates consistency, not to mention it is not very smart to have an established big money name sitting on the bench. If we can manage to find an attacking midfielder in the mould of Bale or Reus who will score goals and with a primary position being behind, I'd be all for it. But a typical striker will be a waste of money unless of course you think Rooney is part it and should not be playing as first choice anymore.

feck. Who was that French journo that said we're close to signing Fabinho about a week ago? The rat bastard.

That seems likely given the way we have been spending money, City already have 2 RB's though.

That is true, of all the league the Italian club presidents seemt o enjoy the transfer showpiece the most, Dybala is another that went for less than the looney president was saying he'd cost. I can't see anyone paying £35M for Higuain either though, just not worth it IMO.

Personally I don't see us winning anything with Rooney as our main #9, no. As far as an attacking midfield player that scores goals, not sure where we'd get one of those in truth, especially with the way we are shaping up to use our midfield 3, unless LvG thinks Herrera can be that player with less defensive responsibility after Schneiderlin comes in.
