Question. Why are the UK tabloids all saying this wouldn't be announced till Wednesday when the International transfer window opens? I thought the domestic window was already open??

Because they're clueless or just trying to stall.

There's no reason to wait once the deal is agreed.

My guess would be that the final details of the deal with Southampton will be ironed out tomorrow, medical, contract signing etc to be done tuesday and then the announcement on wednesday.

You are expecting logic and common sense to prevail from UK tabloids when they write their stuff?!:lol:

You must be new to this transfer sagas, I guess!! :p:D

Not new to this unfortunately, still brokeb from Vidalgate last Summer! Just sick of tabloids not doing their jobs! One of them even quoted the transfer window not being open as a reason for the transfer being completed Wednesday!

There goes another striker off the market.. Not that I wanted us to sign him..

But the options of signing a striker is reducing by the day.. If we truly are going for a striker, who else is good enough and available..

Is Memphis going to be deployed as a Striker?! Maybe the manager is happy with Rooney, RvP and Wilson..

Not my main area of concern with Hernandez back.. A RB, CB, No.6 and another CM, I'll be happy..

Lacazette. Do it.

He's gonna look a bit of a spanner if Milan can't agree terms with Sevilla.

They'll have to activate his 30 million euros release clause, which shouldn't be a problem as they were ready to activate Jackson Martinez's 35 million euros clause before he rejected them for Atletico.

I don't think Memphis will be used as a striker, @NL Max reckons he'll mostly play from the left.

Of the strikers left I only see Benteke, Higuain and Lacazette...So yeah, Lacazette or bust as RvP is past it and I think Hernandez will be sold.

I hope for him that Milan have already done this and he hasn't jumped the gun.

I think it'll go through, Milan are pretty desperate for a new, quality striker. They're also after Luiz Adriano from Shakhtar Donetsk, whose contract expires in December and would be available for peanuts.

Would be nice, but didn't Lyon rule out his transfer this summer?!

Plus after the Falcao disaster, I am wary of foreign strikers not used to PL.. :(
Throw enough money at Lyon and i'm sure their chairman can be persuaded. Lacazette is a fast & technical striker, Henry junior. Falcao is.. erm, so. He can also be utilized on the wings (right mostly i think) so that's an added bonus.

Funniest thing was Rodrigo Caio who wrote a farewell letter to Sao Paolo fans before leaving for Valencia then failed his medical.

So, does this Craig Norwood follow any other non United players?

All of these guys would expect a starting role for us which is not going to happen with Rooney there. I just do not see us buying an established striker if we continue playing with one up top.

Read somewhere Delph might be available for 8M..

What do you folks think of taking a punt on him for that fee?! Of course after signing Schneiderlin.. As the second CM..

Thoughts?!

No thanks, he's shite.

Have Milan suddenly came into some money? As they have been a sad shadow of the once great club they were.

So this was true? I saw some tweet about him possibly failing the medical but there was no follow up so I figured it was a mistake. Are there any details on why he failed?

This is true, I just keep hoping that LvG will go against that and tell Rooney he has to compete to start like everyone else, otherwise we might as well have gotten someone like Bacca if all we want is a Remy type bench striker.

Kane is the only real striker we have been heavily linked with. And that seems unlikely considering Levy and the fee they would want.

Might not be priority area i guess, unless LVG has given up on RVP. He likes playing 1 up top and Rooney as Captain gets special priviledges in LVG's word as it is.

In terms of other options there is Lacazzette as mentioned above.

Also Mauro Icardi And Antoine Griezzman. (Converted into a striker pretty much by Simeone successfully last season.)
