We should sign Ramos and then quickly sign Otamendi too afterwards...that would piss Madrid off nicely.
Ramos' situation gets solved aka he signs a new contract and we go on to sign Otamendi. There were some speculation about Otamendi stopping talks with english clubs until Ramos situation is solved.
Best scenario IMO.
You'd rather have Otamendi? Ramos is easily the better player for me - and only 10 months older.
Would really prefer Otamendi anyway, just not sure we're in for him either.

Why would anyone want Otamendi over Ramos? Ramos is easily the better player and the age difference ain't that big.

Ramos has serious lapses in concentration. While he has all the tools to be the best CB in the world, he's neither consistent nor disciplined enough.
I don't really understand this point. That used to be the case but he's become better and better with each year. He was the best CB in Europe during Real's Champions League winning season, for instance. I think he's a complete defender by now.
We need some age in our XI, that suit's me fine, I'd love some experience in that backline, Rafael, Shaw, Jones, Smalling are all young still, some with a fair amount of experience, but none compared to those who they replaced (Rio/Vidic), Ramos would be a perfect addition, but I can't see that he will join, he wants a new contract and we are wasting time again I worry. We KNOW Otamendi is for sale, so put a bid in, Schneiderlin is the one I'd be really happy about signing..
That was Pepe. He had a good season in 13/14, but last season was a step back from that IMO.

People really wouldn't be happy with ramos ? I think many have just already gotten used to the thought of otamedi being a utd player, when the rumours first popped up everybody had questions marks and proffered hummles.

Yes, indeed. It also helps the settling in period at the new club when they've played with the players there. Any team in the world would take Koke. Pretty much all clubs bar a few would take Griezmann.

I have to say that could be a bargain. A great bit of business, especially considering we paid £30 Million for Shaw. It's also apt because some muppet was on Talk Sport this morning saying England under 21's got knocked out of the Euro's because English players are too expensive to buy. Well this one certainly wasn't.
The thing is according to reliable journos, the locker room was divided between the pros and anti Mourinho, and apparently at some point half of the team wasn't talking with the other. Mourinho had to go because of that, it wasn't because Perez wanted to get rid of him.
Milner, Firmino and Clyne will improve them big time. Good signings from the lot.
