Nothing would annoy me more than getting Ramos at the expense of losing Otamendi to Real Madrid. The idea of them coming away from everything with De Gea and 27 year old Otamendi, and us losing De Gea and still paying money for 29 year old Ramos is horrible.

If Madrid buys Otamendi and gives Ramos an improved contract it means Varane is off IMO.
Something will have to give and maybe we are doing the smart thing by waiting it out.
Ok than
Ramos signs new contract
DDG leaves for peanuts to Real
Real sign Otamendi
Varane leaves because of all the competition and Mourinho signs him for Chelsea
We overpay and end up with De vrij or Van Gaal suddenly realises Evans will be like a new player this year.
It's really not that horrible.
I wish we were that sensible. Why don't we just cut out the middleman and sign Otamendi?
Why on earth would Madrid sell Varane and buy Otamendi? That is stupid for them even.
Come on people.
Perhaps it has more to do with the fact that we're in a predicament where Real Madrid hold the cards. That despite our vast branding size and commercial enterprise, the opposite would never be true; that they would ever be in a position to lose one of the best three keepers in the world (not even at peak) to a rival European club.
It's general frustration that we lose players to Madrid that we still don't wish to sell, but never the reverse.
We'd be signing one of their best players...
Who, if reports are correct, is annoyed that Madrid tried to pawn him over to Barcelona recently in relation to presidental election favours, which, if true, would mean that Madrid are looking to move him.
Great player, no doubt. There's just something salty about only getting players because :-
1. Club doesn't want them
2. Player only moves out of spite
How many cases do you remember of top teams getting top players from equally top teams over the past decade except Ronaldo and De Gea obviously? Suarez or Bale don't count since Liverpool and Spurs cannot compete financially nor compete for trophies. What I am trying to say is that this is not exclusive to us. Pretty much nobody can sign top players at their peak from fellow top teams unless it is the case of one of the two factors you mentioned.Who, if reports are correct, is annoyed that Madrid tried to pawn him over to Barcelona recently in relation to presidental election favours, which, if true, would mean that Madrid are looking to move him.

It's amazing that the reports are saying that United are willing to pay up to £45 mill for Ramos. No thanks! Would much prefer a younger Otamendi. My first thought last night was he's using United to get a better contract, Balague thinks that's the case, I hope he is right.
Will there be signings? "Of course. Danilo and Casemiro, for example, are players who will be important and the club Works every day to try and raise the level of this team with a signing that will help us to meet challenges, but permit me to say that improving the squad at Real Madrid is extremely difficult. This team has won everything and has proven the quality they have. The fans can rest assured that this squad will have the competitive level that this club demands."
talkSPORT’s Spanish football expert Graham Hunter claims Sergio Ramos is interested in a move to the Premier League amid rumours of interest from Manchester United.
The Real Madrid defender has been linked with a switch to the Red Devils, and could be used as part of any deal which takes David De Gea to the Bernabeu.
And Hunter insists the World Cup winner would fit in well at Old Trafford.
“I’ve spoken to Sergio Ramos about playing in England and it does interest him,” he told Hawksbee and Jacobs.
“He has been seduced by a number of his Spain teammates coming back and saying, ‘this is what it’s like in the Premier League.’"
When asked about a Manchester United deal, he added: “It’s not a simple yes or no. Rafa Benitez will not want to start his reign losing Ramos but, it coincides with direct interest from Real Madrid in Manchester United target Nicolas Otamendi at Valencia. He’s younger and might come more cheaply.”
And, anyone concerned about Ramos’ ability to handle the physical element of the Premier League, shouldn’t worry with Hunter claiming the Spain star is good enough to mix it with the best.
“Ramos is not sly, he’s a brutal competitor. He fits into wholly in the British tradition of centre-half who will mix it and give out physical intimidation to certain players," he continued.
“He will try and talk to the referee and intimate him in certain situations. He’s a player who leaves everything on the pitch, he doesn’t hold grudges afterwards.
“He has often come out and said when he’s in the wrong. He is world class.”

Unless Guillem has better contacts than the main men at the Madrid mouthpieces at Marca or AS then I'll go with the latter.
If ballbag was as clued in as he thinks he is, he would be in high demand in Spain itself. Can you imagine being a media outlet with an honest to God reliable source at the Bernabeau? Those newspapers fill dozens of pages a day on Madrid, think of the copy they could get.
But hes not. He may work at Marca but it's more of a no mark position, not prominent at all. Do you think he want to spend his Sundays sitting in a studio mascarading as his private restaurant, listening to Gerry and random 90s Chelsea midfielder no 7 orgasm over a Messi backpass while sitting behind the same stale bagels and glasses of ASDA wine that were seemingly served to them 3 years ago? It's borderline racist at this stage. They had him cooking a pot of paella during an interview last year ffs.
I don't know how to copy and paste the tweet but Balague is saying he heard that Schweini to us is done

From a Cadena Ser journo: United want Otamendi but City is his most likely destination.

What kind of player move from a top team, where he is perfectly happy and well treated?
You've hurt me too many times Graham Hunter... too many times.
