Adebayor and his like (Anderson) are a scourge on football..they are the type of players that kill themselves to get that monster contract and once it's signed then it's time to put the feet up and chase the women and then play the victim when they come in for critisism

From a Cadena Ser journo: United want Otamendi but City is his most likely destination.

Ballbag hates the idea that a top Spanish player might leave their top muppet club to come to the PL.

Ballbag saying that Utd would have to pay full price to get Ramos and it would be an audacious move. Says Ramos is not happy with Madrid and wants new contract. Says Real have no intention to sell. Also says De Gea deal might drag on but that De Gea wants it all sorted sooner rather than later and we're not playing ball at the moment.

So in essence it seems about spot on that we've now used Ramos contract situation to our own benefit by showing Real we're not going to take this lying down.

I know it's often said, but equally rejected, but climate (as well as culture) is a massive influence on destination. I've heard people ask what London can't offer that Madrid or Barcelona can, and even if you grant quality of things to do, places to go, etc, there's still the very real climate attraction of being somewhere that isn't dull as dishwater three quarters of a year, not to mention that Latin/Spanish players would have a natural preference for their own language/culture/climate.

We're going to regret selling him to Arsenal.

Shocking from our club.

Gutted. He was my ideal replacement for De Gea.
Arsenal are still a few players off challenging for the title even with Cech joining them. As for him replacing De Gea, like it or not van gaal doesn't just want a great shot stopper, he wants an excellent ball playing keeper too. So, he doesn't suit van gaal's "profile" for a keeper.

Well you had to be burnt selling a player sooner or later.
Well that's the thing, we didn't have to sell him to Arsenal. Our manager publicly says numerous times that he doesn't want to sell Cech to Arsenal and the club does it anyways.
We said the same about selling Welbeck to them, thankfully he was as prolific for them as he was for us
Cech is world class. Welbeck was/is an average player who has no natural position.

I think Cech would have played a big factor there, he apparently didn't want to leave London so don't really think the club had much of a choice without being dueches

Why would that matter? He's not some kid trying to get as much playing time as possible and would be coming here to sit on the bench.
He won't be in Deschamps' plans if he doesn't play regularly or flops.

sounds like the club has respected Cech's wishes. i think it's a pretty respectful move on their part, to be honest, given his service to the club.

It's ridiculous that other journalists are making it seem like we fecked up by not going for him at al. Obviously this was the reason.

At the end of the day, it will always be Abrahamovic's call and he won't care what Mourinho has said publicly.

He'd walk straight into our first XI so playing time wouldn't be an issue.

Don't think any intelligent manager would drop Griezmann from the national side if he struggles a bit in a new country, new league, and new team. Cuadrado for example was shit for us but is still a nailed on pick for Colombia.

It's a nice sentiment and all, but when you're directly making it more difficult to win the title yourselves by gifting your biggest rival a world class player I feel like sentiment should be taken out of it.

The fact that those are pretty much the only examples in over a decade proves that it is an exception rather than a rule. Just because they both happened to play for us does not make it a regular occurrence.

Cech is contractually obligated to Chelsea, the fact that they are letting him go should have been enough as a symbol of respect. I can't even imagine the thought of a United legend pushing for a move to City or Liverpool.
