The problem this summer is the euro being so low/pound so strong so probably all our offers will be seen as a lack of respect for being insufficient.

"The 29-year-old central defender, who has 128 caps for Spain, has an official buyout clause of €180m (£128m) but his contract at the Bernabéu expires in July 2017 and United are believed to think they have a chance of signing Ramos without having to meet that figure."

I should bloody hope so too!

We seem determined to get a player off them though.

I used to be on another United forum and there was a Spanish fellow on there who claimed to have been at the Bilbao academy with Ander Herrera no less, anyways, he also claimed that Ramos's family were big United fans.

I'm starting to wonder if the determination to get a player as part of the De Gea deal is holding up everything else, we don't want to buy in a position we may get filled within the deal with Real Madrid.

Ma, i think most of the player swap talk is bullshit.

That's my worry as well. Maybe they will throw in a defender e.g. RB or CB, then we won't have to buy one, or a midfielder, or a forward. If that is our policy it is utter stupidity. We will then end up holding onto an unhappy player to thumb are noses at them and not fill any of the needs we have. Just get the players we need bought.

Do people really believe we're trying to get a different Madrid player every other day, including players we supposedly already inquired about and been rejected for? It's just shit made up by the papers to cover that the De Gea transfer isn't happening any where near as quick as they've been trying to sell it as, and they need page fillers to keep people interested.

Whatever happened to that podium Madrid were setting up to reveal De Gea on Friday anyway?

I think that he is doing the same than Rooney a couple of years ago .If that is truth I would break the talks to renew and try to sell him now,I can't stand players complaining for contracts. His agent, his brother René Ramos is a tough negociator and Florentino doesnt like him.In the other hand he sees what is happening with Iker and probably knows that in two years the media will start to go against him.

Do we sign him plus Otamendi? He grew up watching United so there could be something there

My Dad used to watch a lot and he would say to me when I was a kid: 'Come and watch this. Look at this guy …' I wouldn't say he obliged me to watch it but pretty much. He'd say: 'Today so-and-so is playing; watch him.'" And who did he support? Ramos grins. "Manchester United."

@darioterios ,is good info because As and Cope, totally opposite, are saying the same.Tonight en el Chiringuito surely will talk Inda(ex director of Marca) with more news

Graeme Bailey: Watford and QPR among those monitoring Manchester United defender Reece James.

Ramos linked with Barca and Utd in the space of two days.... new contract anyone?
