Transfer Tweets - Manchester United - 2024/25

People have pointed out since we were first linked that he looks nothing like a €40m player
Yeah, I don’t pretend to know him, but comments like the one i quoted are unnecessary negative in my oppinion.
We seldom get a player for his actual market value.

No. The line doesn't mean anything. There were similar tweets about Kone this summer; how United "considered him a first teamer". As you probably know, he hasn't been in our match day squad all season. Likely a similar case here, a couple years away from contributing. It's a story the club tells to sign the player or please the media.
Kone was injured most of the season, not an apt comparison. Not saying Heaven is ready or anything just pointing out Kone's injury

It looks like Dorgu will be the only signing. No other incomings or outgoings.

I think that's a sensible move. Wait until the summer for more players to become available instead of panic buying.

Why not just go and get Alvaro back from Benfica for half the price? Looks a much better than Dorgu. Unless it’s not that straight forward?

Because we might see Dorgu as having higher ceiling and/or better fit for what we want to do? Alvaro is suspect defensively and doesn’t improve us in terms of athleticism. Dorgu is an improvement in that respect, is versatile, and the club might have belief he can improve in other areas

Or please the fans

Last I heard he wasn't fussed on coming back. Guess he wasn't impressed with us selling him and not giving him a chance

Romano seems to have a lot more insight than previously regarding us. Obviously not taking in to account his multiple tweets saying the same thing but he seems to be getting more info from our side recently.

I think he just gets a lot more from younger players - he's probably in their DMs. The creep.

Riiight. Apart from the fact he constantly breaks transfers of major players. The Romano hate is ridiculous. He learnt his trade under DiMarzio and has taken it to a whole new level in the world of football journalism. Fair play to the guy.

Along with Alvaro preferring to continue with Benfica (probably for more first-team minutes), Dorgu has wider skill set. His athleticism combined with his eye for good runs as well as decent finishing meant that Lecce played him as an attacking winger on several occasions. Alvaro doesn't have that in his skill set.

Other people have already said it, but the likeliest reason that Dorgu is being prioritised over Alvaro is because he's a better fit for what Amorim wants in a Wing Back. I feel like we don't have any players that fully fit that profile at the moment, but in this system Alvaro might be more of a LCB who can cover the Wing Back roles if needed. Which imo is a similar profile to what we already have in Mazraoui and maybe even Dalot, albeit they are both right sided players.

He's not going to shag you mate.

How high do you rate Dorgu? Would he make it here?

Because in 2 seasons in Bundesliga he scored 36 goals - but of course that was then. Those were the only 2 seasons where he actually scored goals.
He has scored 13 this season. More than anyone at our club. Granted a lot in Europe but he’s obviously got an eye for goal.

That depends on a couple of things:
  • Can Dorgu adjust to the higher pace of play and better tactical opposition?
  • What level will United settle into under the current leadership?
Dorgu's very athletic and a smart football player as well. He's not just purely reliant on his speed and strength, so I can see him adjusting well to the PL. Højlund was more raw when he first arrived into United, and Zirkzee is still getting used to the pace of play. Dorgu, meanwhile, is a quick learner and very good at adjusting to various situations. It's all about Dorgu's ceiling now, and for me, that's hard to tell. He's a decent finisher and makes good runs behind the back line, but his crossing needs more work, still. In that sense, he's still raw.

United will be the club to refine him. Whether they can fully benefit from the final product depends on whether the current leadership gets the club out of this mid-table rut.

The way I see it - can he run relentlessly up and down the wing - if yes he is more suited than any wingbacks we have in our squad

Jesus you are relentlessly negative lately. Have a day off ffs.
Seems like he’s posing a question. And a valid one I’d say. Neither has played as a WB so that shouldn’t be an argument

Having said that, just saw Romano’s Here We Go, so from now on it’s Durgo who we support :)

Yep, that's it.

And once he's ours, he has my backing and I hope he makes me look like a fool every game
