Well, it is a tricky situation for him. He came to Atlanta just a season ago, developed there well and now wants a move to the next stage of his career. Atlanta should also be aware they got him for approx. 15 Mio. from Sturm Graz, and would make an unbelievable move. As regards to the "tantrum situation", there is no disrespect at all, but rather a typical next step in the football business. Look at Haaland, he stayed one year in Austria, two years in Germany and moved to City - and I am pretty sure he will not stay there for many years as he want to move to his next move, most probably to Real or Barca. No club made any problems during every move since they know what talent they had and there has been always found an agreement - of course apart from that release clause. Atlanta is aware we are looking for a striker desperately, hence they want to get the best deal ever. Even PSG who can pay anything for anyone they want, resist to pay more than 50 Mio. I just think Atlanta should not be too greedy with their price tag of 80 Mio. just because it is United and we should not be getting carried too much away. I think it would be a good deal for both clubs if we agree on 60 Mio.

I think you're looking at it from a top club fan and I'm looking at it from a smaller club fan so we have different perspectives. I agree with you that Hojlund will end up leaving Atalanta this summer or the next one at the latest but as you said he's only been there, in a top league, for a year. Haaland with a bigger hype stayed 2 years at Dortmund.
Atalanta are in no rush to sell him this summer for €60M, because they know the market for top strikers is around 100-120M (Osimhen, Kane, Kolo Muani) and if he has a good second season they could get that kind of fee next summer, while keeping his services for this season since they also are pretty ambitious and well ran. Also you need to account for the striker market, there arent that many targets outside of him, the 3 I mentioned and Vlahovic and many top clubs are looking for one and a few of those clubs will end the summer empty handed or with some second hand scraps. Atalanta are in a strong position to negotiate.
 
Have they still got Navas or was that a loan?

He had two injuries his whole career. He played full campaigns in League 1, the Championship and the PL. He was available to play at United for 2 full seasons except when he had covid.

I never had Harry down as the sharpest tool in the box but he's dense as piss if he thinks he and his cruise liner turning circle have any place in a high pressing Ten Hag system.

I cannot see us getting £40m and even that'll probably include 10m pay-off. Also, Maguire needs to be made painfully aware he's not going to play, so he'll lose his England spot. Enough pussy-footing around with average players who've grown way too big for their limited ability.

We should let them have Maguire for this and try to fleece them on McTominay.
 
There shouldn't be any appearance requirements...if Forest want to delay payment then a loan + buy next season is fine.

West Ham are also taking the piss if they think Maguire is a 20 million pound player in todays game.

Typical clubs wanting United to sell players on the cheap but also pay a massive United tax for any of their's. Joke

Who's going to make him aware he's not going to play. The club including the manager aren't going to tell him that.
