United have been monitoring Watkins for a while, so that checks out. Recently, however, United have made no move for the player, and their full focus is on Højlund at this time.

He looks the type of player Bayern Munich would sign and have him scoring goals for fun.
Nice to see we are making some much needed progress on the deal, hopefully we can get him in before the first league game, and I'll love it, I'll absolutely love it if he scores a beauty on debut.

He's mentioned a 5-year contract before, but what's new is the optional 6th year. Technically, this isn't a straight-up rehash, but the other details serve as a reminder.

It is, yeah, but that's what happens when a journalist gets a ton of plaudits for reporting transfers, especially after everyone conditioned themselves to doubting any and every transfer rumour before he blew up.
What's also new is that Romano's fully confirmed the details of the personal terms. When he reported them before, he never seemed to assert that these were the true details. However, we now know for sure that United will offer Højlund a 5+1-year contract.
We offer everyone 5+1 contracts though. Particularly younger players. Was there ever any doubt it would be a long term contract?
Just because it's potentially likely doesn't mean that it's a certainty. Why should any journalist be picked on for reporting an actuality that was predictable?

I come from the same area as OW & as i said, probably total rumour mill, however it was passed on that basically that OW had been having discussions with Utd & it all depended on what happened with Kane, so if Kane signed for Utd, OW wouldn't, but if Kane goes to BM or stays at Spurs it was more likely to happen.
Again, more than likely speculative bollocks, but it's about the only bit of transfer goss i've ever heard down our neck of the woods!

No reliable journalist ever reveals the wages until the deal's close to being sealed. If he has the info, he has to keep it to himself or risk putting the deal in jeopardy.

Definitely just a negotiating tactic in terms of Maguire. McT I’m not so sure. I can imagine ETH is happy enough to keep him as a squad player.
