Seems a low ball offer at first glance, but if they really want 45, then offering 35 leaves the option of settling around 40 which seems a fair price in today's market...

Dean Henderson Is on 100k per week hand we’ve loaned him out while we pay his wages so he can slag the club off, that’s how bad this club has been run?
Where did you see that Man Utd were paying his wages last season?

If this is true then A: we're clearly really struggling for money, and B: €45m is a bargain that we should definitely take if we could somehow scrape together our coppers.

How do you come to that conclusion? If Atalanta have made to clear they want €45m and we offered that with us our first offer then most people on here would be slating our negotiation team for just paying the price. Every deal should be haggled down as much as possible even if it’s within our budget.

I have a feeling we're milking the FFP position in the press to not get fleeced.
Much better than Ed Woodward telling everyone we can do things in the transfer market only others dream of, and then we have to overpay for everyone

Hope you're right. I don't dispute that he was missed as soon as he got injured but I also think that is down to the bunch of average midfielders we have at the club. I would have preferred a much younger midfielder with an engine, and we definitely did pay him a lot and gave him a 3 year deal to make sure we got him. We shall see if he was rushed back and that's why he was gassed after two thirds of every game, but it was always a bit risky getting two +30 year olds to be the engine room.

I'm starting to believe the press are right and we only have a pittance to spend. What's with the absolute no traction on the selling front?
It’s the Glazers who are completely not interested, any penny they spend is more debt and means they will get less in their deal with SJ, they are looking for an agreement that SJ will reimburse any transfer fees this summer, either that or the deal is done and waiting international clearance while the funds are cleared and nothing can actually happen until next week, we have the money and the FFP is a problem but it’s being massively over played in our negotiating. If you only have £100-120m to spend you don’t spend £60m on Attacking Midfielder with only 1 year left on his contract.

Totally agree, and we know teams like Inter are desperate

Anything between €35m and €45m for Hojlund would be amazing business. I really hope this isn't b*llsh*t.

Course it is he would already be our player if that's actually what they wanted.

Atlanta would be stupid to ask for so little from a club that is A. desperate for strikers and B. paid what it did for Maguire, Antony, Sancho etc. The 100m fee is way more realistic in that sense, especially in this market given he only signed for them less than a year ago.

To give perspective , both Liverpool and Man City , when they bought Allison and Ederson respectively had Mignolet and Bravo respectively as backup before moving them on.
How much did Mignolet and Bravo cost

I am surprised that SJ/SJR do not get the Glazers to increase the debt and spend on transfers, in order that they can clear the debt as part of the take over.... I dunno maybe there is some master plan hence the delay

There is definitely not a master plan

How come? I see Fred's skillset being much easier to come by and replace. Whereas Eriksen is much more a specialist.

I don't think Eriksen performs his speciality at a high level and he is close to being done physically at this level. He is also not a great option from the bench and not someone you can play around tactically against top teams.

But I heard he makes a mean spag bol..

Which season?
Pick one where he won players player. How about the season where he broke the record for saves in a game Vs Arsenal.

Unless I'm wrong (usually I am), his saves were worth upwards of 9 points on one season? Find a season where we finished 5th and deduct 9 points off it.

£200k for a second choice keeper? And what do you think the new 1st choice is going to ask for if the second is on £200k
Like I give af, they'll be younger and starting at the bottom to prove themselves. DDG has spent 11 years with the club and won trophies.

Some say 45m€, others say 70m€ and others say 100m€. Conclusion? Most don't have a clue.
The 100m number is wrong obviously, someone pulled that out of their arse.

45 million is the number I‘ve read most often. 40-45 is probably a good deal for this young un.

The last time was 17/18 which is the same season he broke the record for saves. We finished 6th twice since then while he has been in decline which is hardly mid-table.

I am sure there are some minor exceptions to the rule - (for instance if you are City, Barcelona or Real Madrid) - but if you want to replace a keeper like DDG with a 2nd choice goalkeeper of his standard, you have to pay a minimum of £15-20 minimum (and I am being conservative here). If you have a very established and dominant side like City, you can probably get away with a slightly worse goalkeeper because if he performs to a 7/10 every game - City will win. But in a club like ours, we need a 2nd choice goalkeeper who can win us games if he plays- and there is no goalkeeper of that standard available for £10 million

So whatever we save by getting a goalkeeper who earns £100.000 a week less than DDG - will be lost in the transfer fee....

I think most of us would agree that Eriksen's contract with United is likely his last at this level. But that's why we signed him on a free with reasonable wages. I think he can play a part still for the next season but that's secondary to the other big factor:

Nobody is paying us to sign Eriksen.

Fred on the other hand is someone we can easily improve on and also sell on for a much more considerable fee. Which is why we've got him on the transfer list and not Eriksen which I think is the most beneficial decision for us

Agreed and in addition even at his current level Eriksen is twice the player that Fred is

Hojlund: Atalanta are aware of Manchester United's strong preference but will not accept offers below 60 million [Euros] for now. Only if they present that offer, which has already been requested, can they negotiate. Juve on Hojlund? Priority is Vlahovic: outgoing or not, it depends on that. Giuntoli also likes a profile like that of Jonathan David (Friday's news)

This is in response to Neil Custis' (Tier 4) report about United preparing a 2nd offer of £40m for Højlund:

€60m is £51m so not a million miles apart. You could see a £40/45m with bonuses deal getting done.

£51 million for him certainly doesn't sound too bad - and we can probably squeeze it down by £5 million

The constant switching between pounds and euros is weird. They went from 45M Euros to 45M pounds.
