Why the hell would we loan him out ? He has like 2 years left of his contract, so after 1 season on loan he comes back and we will be desperate to try and sign a new deal. It makes zero sense. Play him this season or sell him before this season.
I think it’s 2+1 so theoretically 3 he signed it at 19 with a 5+1 contract and probably would have been in line for a huge new contract now had he not been in limbo for his own actions. If he stays he will be put through the grinder at all stadiums, six month loan minimum is the best course of action to January in Italy or Spain.

They're obviously hoping the massive scandal all blows over in a year.
Not quite sure why they think that.

I was in favour of this deal but when I heard about the quoted salary I got annoyed. He shouldn't have more than 150k per week.

He was offered 200k by Chelsea. Why would he move clubs and join for a salary reduction?

He would still double his salary at 150. We cannot continue handing out 200K+ salaries to all joiners. We will never be able to shift these players otherwise (e.g. Sancho, Martial, De Gea etc.)

Exactly, we must think he is worth it. Definitely he was worth it a few seasons ago. If we had offered 200k or less he would have stayed at Chelsea.

IF they want him to stay then a loan makes perfect sense, to see where he’s at. Anyone that thinks he can just pickup where he left off after 18 months out is drinking the old cool aid

But is he worth that much in salary, would be interesting to know who else in the pl is in wages that high. Seems to me for that much we should be getting an outstanding player who clearly improves the team. We just seem to hand those contracts to anybody hence why our wage bill was the highest in the league when we had a squad that was barely good enough for top 4.

How does this not make sense?

That’s because that’s what Fred is. But we’ve shoehorned him into a DM all these years like we always do. Look at Anderson, was highly highly rated as an attacking mid and we shoehorned him into a DM too.
Yes he was always playing high up the pitch, pressing and getting into the box under ETH
I think attacking mid is a stretch. Box to box?

Next they will call him a striker. Wasn’t there a period last season when he couldn’t stop scoring (like for 3-4 matches)?

I think that’s around what Bruno is on which doesn’t quite sit right with me. And we’ve ended up paying the transfer fee at market price (or close to it) despite his contract situation. Overall quite an expensive deal.

I hope Ten Hag has seen something in him that really takes us forward.

Because Chelsea took the offer of £200k, ripped it up and offered him a lower amount, which pissed him off and here we are. Chelsea were never going to offer higher than £200k, hence the stalemate in negotiations between them and Mount, then we went flying in straight away with £250k + £50k in bonuses.

Not sure why Caicedo keeps being mentioned. Obviously we're not spending £100m or anywhere near it on another midfielder

This was the average position of the team against Brighton this season when Casemiro-Fred-Bruno started in our midfield. Fred and Bruno were similarly high up, it was a pure 4-3-3 with Martial dropping deep as a false 9.

So yeah, swapping Fred for Mount makes sense, but for me it would be more prudent to remove VdB first. Fred has offered more.

If Eric Morecambe was alive today, he'd probably say.. " United are signing all the right players.. but not necessarily in the right order"

Understatement of the day!

I think it was Mount & Chelsea had verbal agreement on 250K, but Chelsea reneged and offered 200k only, we offered what Mount exactly wanted, it is too much for a player like him but we fecked up when we offered huge salary to Sancho and now we need to bring a lot of the starting/regular players to something close to it, I expect Rashford's contract to be the highest (375K) with DDG's exit.

I'd say it's funny, but it's not, the fact that we're seeing articles saying we can't spend much due to historic spending, yet here we are offering Mount wages worth £300k a week, absolutely bonkers.
