I'm not surprised by that Rashford link. PSG are looking for a star player to replace Mbappé. They're also shortlisting Luis Díaz, and I wouldn't be surprised if they start getting linked to more big-name left wingers over time.

Imagine Sancho Antony and Greenwood out on loan still costing us a fortune and Rashford sold to PSG? It’s parallel universe stuff, if you asked any of us 2 years ago you’d say it was impossible.

What do they have in common? All have terrible work rate (apart from Antony who looks totally despondent in any attacking sense) Off the pitch stuff too to varying degrees. It’s not been good at United for a very long time. Any really top young player will be wary of joining for a long time yet.

I was thinking we could squeeze 100 out of an oil rich club but beggars can't be choosers, I'd take 75 for him.

I think at this point United need to spend in order to turn this dumpster fire around, what I mean is, bite the bullet and take the loss on these players, sell them for anything you can get. Get them off the books and start over.

Ever get that impression that we are going to find it hard this summer actually selling players
I think as long as we're ruthless we will be able to sell okay. When we get bids in, we need tell certain players you're not part of the plans - please leave as it will be best for your career.

We may have got close to accepting bids for McT and Maguire last year but there was always the option for the players to stay at the club and fight for their place. You obviously can't force a player to move to any club but we could be a bit more forceful in pushing them out. No need to banish them and spoil relationships but let it be known the club would rather them be sold.

Yeah, it won't be easy. I bet you that we'll find it extremely hard to offload any of Antony, Dvb, Mejbri, Sancho. The most likely outcome in their case will be to find loans for them where the team they are loaned out is generous enough to pay a large chunky of their wages.

The players we can sell are Maguire, McTom, Bruno, AWB and Casemiro; however it would require some ballsy decision making to offload players, who though are not good enough to build around a title winning team, are still contributing to the current cause. From the looks of it so far, I don't see how INEOS have already prepped themselves for a big summer churn.

Yeah I think we'd have to pretty much give those 4 away. I think offloading Casemiro will be at a loss given his wages too.

Greenwood is another we'll sell but for a lot less than many think.

Hopefully Sancho getting motm last night helps him kick on, and we can get something for him.

If we get any defender, I want it to be Bremer. Bremer and Martinez would be an immense partnership. Add Todibo too and we’re set for years.

I genuinely thought Rashers - Mason - Sancho would be our fluid frontline for many years. I even made a thread about it in 2021.

I think a lot of us did. At the time of the greenwood scandal I had pinned most of my hopes for the future of united on him becoming a top class footballer.

It's an extra issue, of course - especially as the United connection means it gets far more (social) media scrutiny and 'outrage' than players in similar situations for other clubs. But I think by far the biggest problem is going to be his (limited) ability, form, and the price fee and wages that we signed him on.

Spurs were happy to sign Bissouma in similar situations, because none of the above were issues - he'd been proving himself at PL level and the fee they could get him for, and wages he'd been on, were fine.

Similarly, I'm sure there'll be foreign clubs interested in Greenwood. But getting clubs to sign Antony for anywhere near what we paid is going to be impossible based on his genuine valuation now, regardless of the off field stuff.

We're going to have to take a huge hit if we want to offload him permanently, and there won't be a long list of takers. Though I'm sure a lot more would be interested in a loan, but I'm not sure that really benefits us all that much as we'd probably cover at least half of his wages!

And in the meantime would we be going with the same bunch of injury prone, or disaster prone, or old-age prone, CB group?

Absolutely not! (I doubt you would find a single member of the cafe that would advocate for that) now maybe I’m being too optimistic about the new members of staff, but I’m hoping between them they can find a cb who can improve the team and is available for 40-50 million.

*cough* Todibo

What kind of CB is he ?
Quick, strong, a beast in the air, good reading of the game, his passing isn’t on Licha’s level but it’s decent enough. Scores goals too, one of the highest goalscoring defenders in Italy I think. As a pair though they’d have everything.

Yay, this summers keeper madness is beginning!

edit - I know nothing about this player but his name reminds me of Dwight Schrute, so there is that.
With reports of Bayindir not being happy at his lack of chances (I mean I thought he’s at least be our cup keeper) - He wants to go, so no surprise we’re looking at keepers.

“Couldn’t Scout him normally” what does this even mean?!?

Because the tweet says we scouted him expensively.

More of a Vidic type than a Rio type. It's hard to know if he'd fit the high line defending people want to be honest, since at Juve it's a lot of box defending and going long to the forwards. He's really good at that though.

What kind of recovery pace does Bremer have? Given Licha isn’t the quickest.

Never seen Bremer play.

Can’t blame him, Erik’s over dependance on Onana has been laughable.
Yeah, what an idiot playing a struggling big money starting keeper into form, he should have thought of the guy we paid 5m for!

Surely we can't STILL be this stupid? Rashford isn't worth anywhere near £75m and we would be crazy to turn this down!
With the prices of the attacking market, Rashford should be minimum £75m.

The only way he should be down at that price was if there were form / commitment issues here and we were happy to offload him. The form issue certainly applies. Commitment issue looks likely from afar given his body language.

An on form Rashford, happy to stay - such as we saw in 22/23 - should be more the £100m+ mark. As we've seen the likes of Grealish and Rice go far when their stock was high. If we sell Rashford this summer, it's when his stock happens to be lower so, yeah, around the £75m mark would probably be around the mark should we opt to move on from him then.

Great news, as long as the implication isn't "Dortmund want to retain Sancho for next season for free"

That is almost certainly the implication. Stone says they want to "explore every avenue" but it's not like they suddenly got more rich.

Rashford's career stats are far better than Grealish. They're not comparable. Grealish is 28yrs old and has scored 26 Premier League goals in his whole career. His overall record is 51 goals in 368 games and includes time in the Championship. Rashford is 26yrs old and has 83 goals in 266 games in the PL. He has scored 130 in 393 games.

Even at his height Grealish at Villa he scored 6 league goals (after 8 a season earlier) before his summer move for £100m. Rashford at his 'worst' has 7 league goals this year.
