We talking Kane or Rice here

Kane. The talk was Levy isn’t going to sell to us, and now it’s “the price is 100 million”. Just pay it, sell McT, Fred, Maguire… get in Rabiot and a goalie and we’ll be in so much better shape.

Be very frustrated if we don’t get rid of Maguire and McTominay. Both hold some value and would have suitors. We should be pushing both towards the exit door.
If West Ham want both Maguire and McTominay in part exchange for Rice, and we know the asking fee is c.£100m, how much do you think M&M would be valued at? Given the reduction in salaries, from a FFP perspective, that transfer could almost be breakeven.

Also Fred. If we are able to get rid of De Gea, Maguire, Mctom and Fred and realise decent money for the latter three, this will have been a good summer.

£60 mil. 25 for Maguire and 35 for McT.

Yeah I would rather push boat out for Kane

These things never seem to happen, but West Ham would be about perfect for Maguire and/or McT.

Maguire is probably as good a defender as you're going to realistically get for a mid-table team that just wants to sit back and counter, and McT will look a hell of a lot better if his job is to put himself about a bit and be a threat from set pieces, rather than being expected to show for passes and play football.

Problem is just like Fred with Fulham his wages are gonna be huge sticking point

Honestly, I have no idea how those negotiations work. Surely the final price has more to do about a) how much time until the end of the window b) if we manage to sell someone c) if Chelsea are willing to accept lesser offer d) if we can find an alternative.
All in all I can't us not getting Mount.

If we wait a year, we could get both Kane and Mount on a free. Should we?

Shame our negotiators don’t have a clue how to do their jobs. I’d say they are worth nearly 50m.

So both + 40m would be more than fair given they are getting two for home grown quota and WHU would be likely to be quoted inflated fees for a replacement.

Funnily though, of the two I can’t see Maguires ego letting him go there. So maybe Scott + 70m would work.

How hard is it to run this past the manager and get these kind of bids in? I can’t see us getting Mount and Rice in honesty. Arsenal will pay 90m guaranteed, Chelsea will tie up Caicedo quickly now and us Mount. For 55m which will probably be the last to go through.

I'm not convinced by this infatuation with Kane. The money being tossed around for a 28 year old on the last year of his contract is stupid. I'd absolutely pass on him for this summer and get him for free next.
Mount is a tough call. I'd set the max at 50m. Knowing us, we'll probably end up paying 55-60m plus add-ons.

I'm more concerned over the keeper and striker positions. If we're in for Onana, this needs to be done before pre-season. Same for the striker. Muani or Hojlund over Kane for stupid money for me.

I'm also going to mention the elephant in the room. We have no idea what the club are going to do with Greenwood. The fact that it's dragged on this long points to him staying more so than leaving. It will be interesting to see how this unfolds with the other forward transfer targets and the fact that we now have another player in a similar situation.

Yea, the GK situation should have been wrapped up asap. It's the bigger priority for me as it means we can play out the way EtH does and have more control in games. Onana would fit like a glove (no pun intended).

I think recent rumours suggest that we're looking to loan Greenwood for a year somewhere abroad. Whether that's the right/wrong thing to do, I won't comment on, but it seems to be a halfway house which we always seem to do. Too scared to make a call one way or the other. It's why we've been signing strikers over 30 rather than just buying one that can own the role for a good few years.

I think Mount will simply threaten to see out his final year and then move to us on a free. He has quite a bit of power here if he's prepared to test their resolve. They clearly see him as surplus anyway

  • Monaco will discuss from € 40 M for Axel Disasi
  • Manchester United, which has not yet made an offer, is ahead. Erik ten Hag will talk to the player shortly
  • Arsenal and Chelsea who are about to lose Kalidou Koulibaly, are interested in the defender

I’d offer McTominay, Maguire and £50m for Rice, surely that’s a deal West Ham would find hard to turn down, should those two be willing of course. Think Rice and Mount would be good business. Sell Fred and bring in Rabiot on a free also and we would have some real strength in midfield.

Very much doubt something like that will happen but one can dream.

Yeah we definitely don't sign all 3

Wouldn't really be free though. We'd save some money, yes, but the lack of a transfer fee would be offset somewhat by a large signing bonus, agent fees, and higher wages.

Mount is barely worth 50m in normal circumstances, never mind with a year left on his contract.

Yeah I would rather get cheaper similar profile of CM, Onana, Rabiot & go back for Kane (Erik's top target) but doubt it happens

He seems to be better rated by managers than he does by fans, I think we have to accept at this point that he’s EtH’s man

Yeah but because of this deal we can't get his other main man up front

Onana (50m pounds)
Rabiot (free)
Kane (90 m pounds)

Return from loan: amad

Offload: Maguire (25m pounds), Elanga (5m pounds), telles (5m pounds)

I think Mount allows us to play a proper 4-3-3 as opposed to the 4-2-3-1.

If you compare roles to say City’s midfield you can see a similar profile.

Rodri - Casemiro
De Bruyne - Bruno
Gundogan - Mount

You have the holding midfielder, the creator and the box to box. Mount would be a lot better than Eriksen/Fred at attacking the box from deep.

Maybe he specifically wants Mount to pair him with Rice for the next 5 year plus, and Mount will help convince Rice to move up north. Solid British midfielders have served us well over the years, think Robson, Ince, Keane, Scholes and Butt. We have tried expensive foreigners, and they have struggled to adapt, such as Veron, Pogba and Fred. I wouldn't be averse to Rice and Mount to sort our midfield for the foreseeable future, alongside Casemiro and Eriksen.
