Official: Nathan Bishop joins Sunderland from Manchester United for an "undisclosed fee"

Thanks to @L1nk in the Rasmus Højlund thread (Tier 2):

The reason: Højlund arrived into Manchester later than expected yesterday, so the club couldn't conduct the announcement activities and allow Højlund to interact with some supporters. They've instead focused on his medical, and the signing will be announced this weekend some time around the Lens pre-season friendly.

They'll introduce him at OT before the game starts won't they? Kinda like how Varane was announced.

So he doesn't feature in any of the pre season games then?

Fred is on 70k net, 120k gross at 30 with 1 year left. That's nearly €4.5m per year. That's taking the piss for the level of clubs that want him. He should be on half that. It's up to him to take a pay cut if he wants to go or for us to subsidize the fee if we want to get rid of him.

We continue to offer stupid wages for players, so we can't sell them for decent fees. At least this year we are hearing about incentivised contracts for the new signings so hopefully this will end but I doubt it. We also hang on to players to long. We should have sold Fred 2-3 years ago when we knew he wasn't good enough, was 27 and had longer on his contract, so we had more leverage.
100% this. Has been going on far too long. I struggle to see how these shitheads think because they earn 120k from us they are automatically worth this per week to another prospective club. In reality most clubs are a step down surely they see reasonable that their wage must decrease. We could have sold Fred for 30M at 27 and invested in one of dozens/ hundreds better midfielders. Boils my blood he has been so poor for 5 years yet we have spent 31MILLION on his wages. Dear God we are an awful business

So because he arrived later than scheduled yesterday it will take an additional few days to announce? So I'm guessing for whatever reason he can't train and play. Weird.

He can train before he’s announced as long as everything is done. He can also play games before he is announced :p

Undisclosed fee is a nice way of saying : too small to even mention

Unted confirm: Højlund will be presented this weekend.

He won't start here either but he'll get more starts than he will for bayern.
Doesn't he have serious injury concerns/issues around ongoing reduced dynamism which have affected his game quite significantly? I've seen him play well in CL in the past, and like the idea of a powerful, technically decent and adaptable midfielder with winning experience , but would be concerned Bayern are selling us another physically over-the-hill player ala Schweinsteiger ...

I honestly think Amrabat is a done deal we are just trying to get rid of Fred and Donny 1st

If Fred and Donny are being replaced by Amrabat, I wonder who will replace Mctominay if he goes.
I think Mount is the replacement for Fred, Donny didn't really need a replacement as he hardly ever played, and Amrabat is the replacement for Mctominay. Once he returns to fitness, Mainoo will be additional player, who may eventually replace Casemiro.

I'm not entirely convinced that i) we are in for Amrabat (not just agent pushing the link to smoke out a buyer), and ii) he is good enough for United. Wouldn't mind seeing Andre as Casemiro's understudy for United and Brazil.

DVB didn't play because he was injured. There's a reason we got Sabitzer in. Because we had multiple injuries in midfield.

Would a straight swap not be the sensible option for this deal? DvB and Fred for Amrabat?

Swap deals get suggested a lot but they’re relatively rare and with good reason.

It’s complicated enough getting clubs to agree on a transfer fee, add ons, payment structure etc for a single player, plus they need to agree terms with player and agents etc. Adding in more players and agents whilst expecting the clubs to then also agree on each other’s valuations of their players just complicates things massively.

This is coming from a Tunisian journalist, so there may be something to it:

One of the few I think we'll really regret selling. Especially to fecking Luton who'll probably offer us half a bag of Quavers for him.

Selling him to Luton with a buy-back clause would be even better.

We all know what happens with young players on loan at struggling Premier League newcomers when shit hits the fan after Christmas.

If they own him they'd have more reason to play him.

Update for the Bayern midfield after landing from Singapore:
  • Tchouaméni currently no hot lead
  • Alvarez: no contact with Ajax, but no rejection either
  • Goretzka: ManUnited interested, but the Englishmen have to collect money first
  • Internal discussion about Kimmich's role

This. Skin in the game for all parties involved.
