Adrien Rabiot is an important target for Manchester United coach Erik Ten Hag, who has already spoken to the French midfielder

Tier 2:

Bit more info:

United have yet to decide on Tom Heaton's and Nathan Bishop's futures. As it stands, both will become free agents at the end of the season.

More of a reminder than anything else, but this is particularly important given that he's now out for the rest of the season:

Sabitzer has not done enough for us to sign him in my opinion. He has shown glimpses, but we need a better player to compete with the best

He’s a good squad option to have but if FFP means we have to have a net spend of 100 mil then I can’t see him being one of the signings. Rabiot makes more sense to bolster the midfield with no outlay.

He's done ok but not enough to earn a move with our financial restrictions, especially with a meniscus injury

100m for Rice is a joke.

No doubt we’ll fall for it but I just don’t get the hype. Waste of money. Would rather get 2 lesser known midfielders for the same price. We need depth, not bang average marquee signings

Bang average i agree he isnt worth 100 million but bang average is a bit over the top

He is too expensive, but he is a very good player. He would add a lot of what our current midfielders lack. But I would rather we added one of the Brighton-players

Yeah it definitely does

Adrien Rabiot is one of Manchester United's targets this summer. Other French players are also followed by the Red Devils: Koné and Randal Kolo Muani.

Official: Ethan Galbraith will leave Manchester United at the end of the season

Had been in favor of signing him permanently as a squad player. Meniscus injury though? Do not want.

For that money we could get Ugarte and Le Fee, or Caicedo and MacAllister. Rice is a good player, but he isn't a £100m player, and like Sancho and Antony (who would be considered good players if we had paid £20m for them), will struggle to live up to the price tag.

doubt it. 120m+ but agree with your sentiment.

Based on what I've seen so far, I think our window is probably going to look something like this:

In:
Harry Kane (£70-100m)
Kim Min-jae (£45-50m)
Jeremie Frimpong (£40-45m)
Adrien Rabiot (free)
Youri Tielemans (free)
backup gk (because it wouldn't be Man Utd without signing a random backup gk that never plays) (free/loan)

Approx Total: £155-195m on total incomings

Out:
Henderson (£15-20m)
Heaton (free)
Butland (free)
Jones (free)
Tuanzebe (free)
Bailly (£5m)
Maguire (£15-20m)
Lindelof (£15-25m)
Telles (£5m)
Williams (£5m)
McTominay (£25-35m)
Fred (£10m)
Sabitzer (free)
Weghorst (free)
Greenwood (free)
Elanga (loan)
Pellistri (loan)

Approx Total: £95-125m from sales (though I think the likes of Telles, Bailly and Williams would actually get less than £5m).

EDIT: I added some likely transfer fee ranges which gives a rough idea of how much we would need to actually sell to get just these players with the reported £100m budget in mind. In a case where we spend the max range for incomings but take in the lowest realistic price for outgoings we'd actually be spending £100m without factoring in wages. If we sell well, we could maybe get one more player but hard to see how we could realistically get another big signing like a Rice or a Caicedo. Maybe we could get some less well known player cheap using our scout network like Andre from Fluminense for example.

That’s massively out of proportion. We would have barely any players

Maybe an extra midfielder or if we can't sell Bailly maybe we'll keep him to see out his contract if we have the funds, but it's not that different to our business last summer where Pogba, Matic, Lingard, Cavani, Mata, Pereira, Chong, Garner, Grant, Henderson (loan), Bailly (loan), Telles (loan), Fernandez (loan), Diallo (loan), Hannibal (loan) and Laird (loan) all left, and only Malacia, Eriksen, Martinez, Casemiro, Antony and Dubravka (loan) came in their place. A lot of players have contracts expiring either this summer or the following summer and we have players like Diallo coming back from loans. VDB will be back and I doubt anyone would buy him so that adds a bit more depth. Ultimately we can't spend as much as last summer due to FFP so we need to make savings.

After 17 outgoings vs 16 last summer, the squad would be:

De Gea
Backup gk
Vitek

Martinez
KMJ

Varane
Shaw
Frimpong

AWB
Dalot
Malacia
Fernandez
Mengi

Casemiro
Tielemans
Bruno

Rabiot
Eriksen
VDB
Mainoo
Hanibal
Iqbal

Antony
Diallo
Rashford
Garnacho
Sancho
Shortire
Kane
Martial

Kim Min-jae's entourage on the recent rumours:
The transfer to Manchester United is not true. Currently, Kim Min-jae is focusing on finishing the season. In the case of the English Premier League, the qualification to the Champions League or the final standings have not been decided. There is no need to move.

Why he isn't deciding his future so soon:
He has to be enlisted [into the military] in June, so he doesn’t have to rush.

Elanga should be sold.
Shoretire will be loaned or sold I think.
If Sancho goes we’ll need to sign an attacker

Van De Beek will be sold and replaced too

Sorry Sancho isn't sold, his wage is too high, just forgot him. As I said I don't think any team would want VDB. Seems a bit early to sell a talent like Shoretire. Loan is possible.

Lindelof and Fred will definitely stay IMO. Great squad depth options.

The problem is they're getting old and don't have long left on their contracts. This is Fred's final year of his contract, he's 30, and ETH has already stopped using him. No chance he'll be getting a new deal or we'd already have heard something, so this is our last chance to get some money for him and get rid of his £120k per week wages. I agree that Lindelof's a great squad option, but he's also probably one of our best chances at getting over £20m for a player, he'll be 29 by the summer and his contract expires next year (or the following year if we choose to extend). Again it would be another £120k per week off the wage budget.

How many minutes did those players play for us this season? There is a risk we have to do into our youth team if we have a massive clear out, but I expect ETH will let most of those go. Lindelof, Fred and Greenwood/Pellistri are the only ones we should possibly consider hanging on to. The others should continue their careers elsewhere.

Why are we this obsessed with a new CB given we still have Varane, Martinez, Maguire, Lindelof and (in a pinch) Shaw?

Because Varane is only fit for half a season at best and Martinez is going to be coming back from a longish injury - for €45m buying Kim Min-Jae to replace one of Lindelof/Maguire would be a smart move.
