Wow, first they (Ajax & Dutch Media) said Martinez is a great player and will excel at United, and they also reported Ajax were desperate to keep Martinez hence why they only would listen to big fees, now and after one bad performance, now they say they are surprised United offered such money, WTF, talk about bullshitters, just going with narrative and piling on United, unoriginal really

Edit 2: They deleted it

Have you been asleep for the last week? That is right up our alley.

I'm fully aware, unfortuanetly. Does anybody have the latest version of Football Manager? Perhaps if you could run a quick search and send some names into United HQ we might stand a chance ..

Since the Brighton loss, we've been linked with so many bloody players yet none of them have materialised. Even Rabiot which seemed to be a certainty is dragging on.

So frustrating.

This transfer window has been another disgrace to be honest.

Yep, was happy to give it the benefit of the doubt for a good while but it just looks shite now. Again.

Can still escape with some good players with a bit of luck, but it would be luck.

So this Mike said in the past that the 2 clubs engaged in intense negotiations, and reached an agreement, they knew Ten Hag was adamant and wanted Martinez and used that as an advantage to ask for an extra 15M-20M which they got.

Now he says, Ajax were surprised to receive a big offer? after reporting the hours of meeting and negotiations?

I call BS!

We must be considering moves for a couple dozen players by now. Not great for a club known to be indecisive. Murtough and Erik will eventually resort to closing their eyes and doing eeny meeny miny moe

The Emperor's New Clothes of transfers windows this has been.

This transfer window has been another disgrace to be honest.

Where are the people who hurled abuse at anyone who questioned our transfer business a month or two back ?

"the window has just opened"
"ten hag is on vacation anyways"
"we haven't even flown out to asia for the preseason"
"there's still a lot of time left before the season begins"
"the season might have started but the window is still open for another month"
"we'll get taken to the cleaners on deadline day"

feck off.

I’m pretty sure it was the same narrative with DvdB. With hindsight they weren’t wrong.

Hrum, now, now. Don't be hasty Master Ten Hag. Hrum, now, well, Manchester United is run by Ents. Things will go as they will and there is no need to hurry to meet them. We must not be hasty.

We overspent on Martinez, no doubt. But it was Arsenal who drove the price up - they had 2 or 3 bids knocked back before we even made our first bid.

We paid a €10-15m surcharge due to our dire situation, but then again, when do we not?

When some of us voiced our opinion on how outrageous the fee was, we were criticized for moaning and how it was irrelevant. Now when we see the seller perspective what do the same people think I wonder?

I couldn't really give a shit, the guy who has been managing him wanted to take him with him and sanctioned the transfer. That's all that counts. Will he be totally shite and a waste of money? Let's hope not, but I trust the judgement of a his current and former manager more than people who don't actually manage players.

come on you surely dont believe that right?

I see we've reached the point where redcafe posters already think they know better than our manager. Incredible they aren't working in football at the highest level, righting all the wrongs they've easily identified.

Well alot of that would have been reasonable to say at that point? Weird thing to get irate about.

You are right, but that is not going with the media narrative of giving United a good old kicking.

Those players going in to see the board is not a good sign, it shows that the team does not have one calm head amongst them. That is what we need, a leader not a load of whingers.

Of course it would be reasonable if we were a well run club and hadn't been conned for so many years and lied to. But with the way were actually run the odds were in favour of us screwing up the transfer window and many were rightly skeptical of tall promises by the club.

Sounds like PR for the fans more than anything.

Ajax trying to make them looks good after losing their POTY. Call me surprise ffs

Pile on United time. He's so bad, he won their player of the year and they 'thought' the first bid was so good... yet rejected it.

Yeah, its daft. It's obviously concerning how Martinez has been targeted but he won't be playing against direct tactics every week and how often have people rushed to judgment on new players. Vidic and Evra is the classic example but it happens all the time.

A total shambles. Heads need to roll, starting with Murtough. He was lucky to survive the Rangnick debacle, but this is a bridge too far. The man is an idiot.

I don't know. Still time yet.

If we don't get De Jong, ye it's been a total shambles.

If we somehow bring in De Jong, Rabiot, and a half decent forward - the window doens't look so bad.

The PL is a hard league to play in so naturally it takes time for most players to adjust to the league, some fans on here have given him 2 games and deemed him not good enough already

What did this say?
Some BS about how Ajax were not expecting an offer above 50m for a CB who was 1.75m tall from anyone other than Prem club and it was irresponsible if they didn't accept that.

The fact its since been deleted says a lot.
