I foresee Frenkie trying to leave in a year to the likes of PSG. They'll agree to pay the deferred wages.

De Jong will never see that money from Barca directly.

No more signings for us I reckon. Pathetic transfer window.
Looking that way. So far it’s what? 40m net spend in a summer we were promised an upheaval. We could sell a few more to bring that number down to ram home how unambitious we really are.
Saying that, I’d rather focus on the ridiculously talented youth we have than bring in players who dont really want to be here or bend over for clubs for targets

If Barca were happy to keep FdJ then why agree a deal with us. This has been possibly the stupidest/strangest transfer saga ever. Tops even the first summer saga we were after Sancho and the Herrera nonsense.

I dont think we have done much wrong yet in the FdJ saga either, weve agreed the bid with tbe club and are waiting on the player and Barca to sort their shit out. Unfortunatley its not very straightforward. I cant believe even we would be that inept to waste so much time and resources on a transfer if it was a definite no at the other end.

The issue will be if FdJ does stay and we end up with McFred in midfield for the season again. Then the shit will hit the fan.

Still theres hope though.

Sesko would be a good signing. Very direct, tall but mobile. Looks like one of those guys that could explode at any moment and will fill our need for depth at CF with Ronaldo all but gone.

There is absolutely no chance that we’re paying £60m on someone who is going to be 3rd or 4th choice.

That is a luxury we literally cannot afford. Lindelof is awful and Varane is injury prone. Martinez will start.
Exactly. I think the question is rather "who will start with Martinez?" than "will Martinez start?".

Hopefully this means we'll never deal with or have to deal with Barca again. Shite club, run by morons. Mes que un cnuts.

We still doing mental gymastics to convince ourselves he's coming and it's just a matter of time, or are people waking up now? Happy to be led on this one.

Only my opinion. For me Fred is shamefully below the standard required and the united faithful are blinded by his perceived 'effort'. I believe he does more harm than good with his possession and ability to play under pressure. This doesn't count for his stats either which are largely safe or backpasses.
Fred is more than capable of being a very useful squad player for a side with ambitions of winning the biggest prizes. In possession, he is far better than he is generally perceived and is a lot more expansive than someone like Kante for example.

Fred gets shat on a lot by our fans. Doesn't help that he often gets lumped in the same bracket as McTominay even though he is levels above him as a player.

Honestly, where is FIFPRO. I know Neville tweeted about it the other day but how on earth can you sign Lewandowski, Kounde, Kessie, Christensen etc etc and then ask your playing staff to reduce salaries? There should be repercussions from the governing bodies.

Strongly disagree, this to me seems uneducated but its your opinion. Peace out

Maybe not real business if you are Man United but Liverpool and Man City have no real problems getting their main business done nice and early.
It's almost as if we got a new manager who wanted to assess the squad first and the other teams didn't.
And on top of that having to deal with Barcelona and their Mexican standoff with De Jong.

Ten Hag has said it's not about getting new players in, it's about getting the right players in.

FIFPRO who also represent the players that are moving to Barca?
Surely those players would be interested in actually being allowed to play for the club they just joined (ie registered for la liga) and not just appear on the list of staff?

We have been used like a pawn (as always with our club) in Barca's attempt to force frankie to lower his wages.

Not exactly the brains of midfield if he gets bullied by Barca to lower his contractual wages. Has to be the stupidest guy on earth.

Nah he just want to stay at Barcelona. He's still getting insane money one way or another. Its not even about that. Its been said a thousand times. He wants to stay at Barcelona.

Getting him the players he wants.

Getting rid of the players he wants rid of.

Not trying to influence his team selection.

Siding with him over players.

Not signing players for marketing purposes.

Giving him time to do his job.

We've done all of this over the past 10 years. Weakened managers lead to weak teams.
What of that list have we (not) done this window under new management?

This could mean one of two things, either a) they have got wind FDJ is about to lower his salary and stay at Barca, and are looking at options, or b) they are making it 'known' to Barca they are now talking to an alternative option, to force their hand. Either way it's positive from Utd if true..

If our transfer team had any sense they would have lined up 2 alternatives to FDJ already, so the MOMENT he inevitably accepts a pay cut at Barca we can sign an alternative. Instead we're pinning all our hopes on him, and will be left scrabbling around when it gets confirmed that FDJ is staying put.

It's a pathetic window because you 'reckon'?
It's a forum. We give our opinions . If you disagree, say why.

Yeah a lot of clubs fleece us when it comes to transfer price anyways. We operate with a United tax. That makes it ever more crucial we rely on buying young and helping the youth always be a part of the team. My absolute proudest stat as a united fan is the youth player in every first team squad that stretches back nine decades. That is a necessity as much as a mark of pride in today's market.

As I say that though we are also reliant on the big signings working out. Fergie was the master at this with Cantona, Yorke, Ruud, Rio, Rooney, rvp etc. If Maguire, Martinez, Martial and Sancho all have good seasons then we"ll be very good. Unlikely though.

This is the equivalent to starting a school report at bedtime the day before it's due.
We just don’t have the pulling power we used to. So we’ve gone with the scattergun approach, with the hope that something sticks
Well that's me reassured! we have given negotiating 110%

DADDY I WANT MORE SHINY TOYS, WAH WAH WAH, GIMME MORE GIMME MORE MORE MORE!

NO NOT THOSE SHINY TOYS! I WANT THOSE OTHER ONES!! WAH WAH WAH GIMME GIMME!

ETH has said as much already. “Martinez will strengthen our team, not the squad”.

They told you that yeah?
