Rashford's 24 though. At the same age Salah was on loan to Roma halfway through a season where he got 14 in 34 in serie A. You'll need to wait a couple of years before this comparison becomes relevant.

At his age Salah was getting a big transfer to Liverpool. Meanwhile, no big club wants Rashford and not even the fans of his playing club want him. You also have to remember that an English player in the United academy is far more privileged than someone starting from a midtable Egyptian team and will be a few more steps ahead at the beginning of his career.

200 million for Chelsea
150 million for Spurs

It's going to be a busy and tough market this summer

To be fair they will spend a lot trying to replace the players they are losing like Christiansen, Rudiger, Azpi and Alonso.

£200m can go a loooong way if we wise up and don’t target solely big names. If our hierarchy is smart we can get some top quality players that are free agents or have 1 year left on their contracts.

If we go out and spunk huge money on more Lukaku’s or Werner’s we’re never going to bridge the gap to the top 2.

Which free agent will replace Rudiger?

They need to get a new backline, don't they? Rudiger, Christiensen, Alonso... Thiago Silva will be 38 a month into the season.. Azpi will probably sign an extension.

They'll need the money..

None that I can think of. We will probably be spending most of our budget on CB’s.

But in attack for example there are some high quality options. Ousmane Dembele and Dybala for example are free.

Do you have any buyback for Tomori?

Seems to be saying we’re about to sign a CB and a striker - and specifically mentions Nunez.

I like Romano but this is really not revealing. Considering we really need 6/7 signings and he is just naming the main priorities, its logical journanlism somebody could guess at accurately, whether he has any cocrete information or more likely not on this at the moment

Personally not excited about him as a signing for us, a ball playing defender when we need a proper defender. I think with champions league and the make up of the squad currently, he would be better off going to Tottenham and would actually be far more successful individually as a player. Think he offers far more of what SPus need at he back then we do. Think he would be really good alongside Romero as thats the kind of player we need

Nope. I think the only recent sales where there is some sort of clause was for Tammy and Livramento where there is a first refusal deal or something.

He’s had a bad year or 18 months. Prior to that he has been linked to Barca and PSG. Careers aren’t straight lines. There are dips and peaks. 25 years ago we used to talk about footballers reaching their peak at 27-31.

Salah signed for Liverpool at 25 years old. He was considered a gamble at £34m. Nobody for saw the kind of improvement Salah has had since then.

He has and yet he’s achieved an awful lot more than say Jack Grealish and is 2 years younger. He has talent and character. We’ve all seen it before.

We can’t afford to write off a player who could be top class with so many more holes to fill and having lost Greenwood.

I can’t help but look at Sterling as a comparison. He had a similar career dip around 23-24 just like Rashford has. There was talk of him leaving City. And then he kicked on again under Pep.

He’s definitely in last chance saloon but we could save ourselves a fortune if there is a redemption there.

Great post

I can easily see the new takeover dragging on as the UK Government unveil more issues with the previous ownership, it will get done but how many players will move to other clubs because of the delay and instability, what was it today Portuguese Government now have to sanction something !

Probably because you're offering peanuts compared to the billion release clause and going out and offering huge money to ageing strikers and average players?

If I were a Barca player I'd be a little suspect being offered below going rate only for my employers to constantly be talking to the media and then hearing offers for Lewa and Raphinha etc.
