Seeing as they arent close to signing either player, how is that not seen as dithering as well?

If you think City/Chelsea are not far more efficient and less of "ditherers" in the transfer market compared to us, I dont know what to say.

Numerous examples where both teams took ages to complete transfers where they had a free run. No one does a quick deal for that kind of money with Mino involved.

Yeah we would pass on Kane, not that he has better offers and better teams in for him.

If Haaland didnt exist, you think we'd not be in for Kane? Interesting. I disagree, but I guess we will never know.

I never said they dont take time with transfers. I said they are far more efficient compared to United with regards to transfers, be it planning or execution. If you think otherwise, we can agree to disagree, because I just dont see it.

The pessimism in this place is off the charts!

Do you read everything that’s not about United and believe it?

I bet an article could come out that we’re in discussions with Haaland about a move and it’ll be passed off as some bold PR move to save face with the fans (another gem of a line from the CAF)

Seems as though every transfer window is an opportunity to shit on our transfer business by supposed United fans. Whilst on the other hand praise and fawn over othrr clubs business.

The mind boggles.

Damn will have to wait another year for Sancho then!
Yet. Laugh all you want now, but when City snap up Kane and Chelsea Haaland, no one will be laughing. Well run teams like City/Chelsea dont dither with transfers like we do. Let's just say its a fear based on previous United transfer activity over the last 15 years, and I'm just paranoid its gonna happen. All of us here are basing our discussions on perceived future transfer deals that have not happened...yet.

Last transfer season kinda broke me :(
Honestly, Kai seemed like it took 6 months of negotiations. If, a serious If... there is substantial talks with Haaland happening, this could not be a quick buy. Too many people with their hands in the cookie jar.

Of course City and Chelsea can get a deal done quickly. They have bottomless pits of money they can throw at any deal to get it done. We have a bunch of accountants who pore over every detail.

FFP has been abandoned and these cheat clubs are free to spend as much as they like. We cannot compete with that, even without the Glazers hampering us. Fans delusions won't change that and the Premier League is set to be a very uneven playing field for the foreseeable.

Seems some people have a hard time in picking up sarcasms. All they do is pick up on some posts made by others and join the criticism bandwagon themselves. This is their only activity and pastime on a Utd forum. Maybe it's my fault, need to use white text a lot more often.

Agreed. He is worth a bit more than that. Hopefully we get at least 20M for a very experienced midfielder that never gets injured. Serie A's slower tempo will be perfect for him.
He is not worth 10 m.

Dortmund aren't going to sell Haaland this summer. They've been firm on that front and Haaland himself said he respected their decision.

And we know that when Dortmund say something, they mean it.

Chelsea are just doing as much groundwork this summer for next year, so they can scoop him up. Same energy we had for Sancho last season.

Yeah, Dortmund laying the ground rules should be fresh in everyone's mind after last summer's antics. I don't doubt Chelsea will go for him but I find it very hard to believe Dortmund will just cave out of nowhere, especially if we do get Sancho wrapped up at some point.

Does highlight that we do need to get a move on as Sancho isn't going to wait forever after what happened last summer.

The deal's almost 3 seasons in the making so you'd hope we have at least most of the groundwork done

Dortmund always have a price and if its matched they take it and we know it.

Dortmund set a price last year for Sancho and, rightly or wrongly, we didn't match it. Had we done so, well, we know the answer to that.

I wouldn't be surprised if Haaland moves this year if Chelsea, or anyone, matches their figure for the in demand forward.

Not that hard to believe if we offer double of what they will get next year

Dortmund had a firm deadline for us to agree the deal by, which we didn't so nothing could happen past then.

With Haaland they've been even firmer that he's staying.

"I have the clear expectation that Erling Haaland will play for us next year," Watzke told Sport Bild. "And I don't waste any thoughts on anything else."

When asked whether a phone call from Barcelona or Real Madrid could change the situation, he added: "I think they know about the contract situation and our stance there as well.

"I am just totally relaxed. Nobody believed us with Jadon Sancho last summer until deadline day, and he's still with us today."

Raiola told German television channel Sport1: "I can confirm that I've been in Dortmund. Michael Zorc - Dortmund's sporting director - made very clear that they don't want to sell Erling. I respect it but it doesn't mean that I agree. There is no war between me and Dortmund."

Dortmund's sports director Michael Zorc said recently: "I like to stick to what the contractual basis looks like and how the direct discussions were held last week. We have very clear plans to go into the new season with Erling."

"Well, I have a contract for a couple of years so I am respectful towards my contract," Haaland told Viaplay.

Chelsea fans will be getting excited, but after our experiences I'm confident he's not going anywhere this summer.

In the last 12 years Chelsea has not been ''bottomless'' In fact Chelsea became very well run after Marina Granovskaia was brought in as Abramovich rep in 2010. They have managed their wage structure amazingly and transfers are always very efficient. Whether they sell or buy they always get the deal done and seems like always at the price they want or are willing to sell/buy. But you are wrong in your next part also.
First of all FFP was done after amazing Glazer lobbying. FFP was never about saving clubs, it was created so leeches like Glazers won't ever have to spend more than 100 mil per year on transfers of our clubs money. Our club has spent 2 billion pounds to finance Glazer ownership. Our turnover has been 6 billion in that time. Now what is more likely 1) we would never have been able to compete with City and Chelsea or 2) 2 billion would have given us a good chance at doing that?

If you think City/Chelsea are not far more efficient and less of "ditherers" in the transfer market compared to us, I dont know what to say.

Hellhunter i won't even ask you to go back 10 years. Just go back a couple of years and see how efficient they have been. Last year they bought Sarr, Silva, Mendy, Ziyech, Chilwell, Werner with pretty much 0 minutes wasted and then they went and added Kai Havertz. They bought Chilwell from Leicester City, with whom we haggled for 3 years for Maguire and still got rinced. All the while when we added ________ to our starting lineup last year. Now you will say that we added Cavani. Yeah, a panic buy in the last day of the transfer market and who was never supposed to be starting 9 for our team. I like him, but he wouldn't get into the first 21 in Chelsea, City, Liverpool or Tottenham.
Our club has turned into a mockery when dealing with transfers.

My mind boggles that after all we still have guys like you who refuse to see the facts. When was the last time our club got anybody that our manager really wanted? Lets see you cry your eyes out when Chelsea buy Haaland, City buy Grealish/Kane and Solskjaer has to come out to first game of the season and say that Cavani was like a new signing for us.

The 'Ole likely to allow youngster to move' is the promising part, at least. Young players need game time. All this 'he's good enough to be in the squad' is pointless when we're going to be sitting in January 2022 and said youth player has 400 minutes to his name for the season, which will be a few Carabao/early FA cup stage matches in haphazard XI's.

I wish people would read articles rather than go off headlines.

tbf, I clicked the link and a full page video advert started playing, so I clicked away without reading the article.

A year or two ago Chelsea fans were convinced Sancho was moving to Stamford Bridge. Now they're trying to convince everyone (themselves?) that Haaland is frothing at the gash to join 'em. Ergo, Haaland will join us.

eem, did you read all those articles yourself? Basically if Chelsea are willing to pay 150 mil pounds they will get Haaland. He has 66 mil pound clause in his contract for next summer. BVB said that if anybody comes with 150 mil pounds they will sell him. And that is what everybody was saying yesterday that Chelsea know how much he costs this summer and they will do everything to get their marquee signing after winning champions league.
This is what good teams/well run teams do, they go and get their man
