€45m for a 20 year old defender who's played a grand total of 65 games (almost exclusively in Portugal) at senior level. Fecking hell.

Though I guess it's not as insane as paying €25m for a 18 year old with 5 senior apps.

There's no need to fetch a source as Reshad himself actually talked to Santi Ovalle to get this info.

Source:

Bernardo Silva still wants to leave England. He is fine at City, but wants a change and would be delighted to come to Barça.

Xavi wants another top interior player who can accompany Pedri and has proven experience.

Mendes is his agent. De Jong, possible bargaining chip

This explains the Frenkie de Jong links to City in recent hours.

The Uruguayan has a proposal to extend 1 more season at Atletico Madrid.

Suarez right now is NOT considering his renewal due to Simeone's lack of confidence in the final stretch.

The player wants to play one more year in Europe, everything is open.

Looks like Ralf is also hinting at a potentially busy summer.

  • Reminder: Roberto Mancini and Graham Potter are alternatives to Pochettino
  • Levy was keen on paying £15M for Potter last summer, but Potter was happy enough to stay at Brighton.

Managers are absurdly cheap. You'd struggle to sign a backup fullback for that price

The new deal for Arteta is great news for everyone else.

Our dysfunctional lot could easily have beaten them and I didn't think they were all that good.

Maybe they'll make some good signings and get better, but not convinced he's an elite manager in the making

How the feck they manage this kind of deals? 30M is a steal, yet they want to pay 17+6? What the actual feck. We bought Van de Beek for 40M :wenger:

a) they identify targets with an exploitable contract situation (e.g. expiring in 2023)
b) they make sure the player only wants to join them
c) they act early(-ish)
d) they act from a position of "we'd like to buy him, but we're not desperate to do so", which makes them less exploitable

Still Gravenberch is one of the most exciting young players in Europe, surely for that price (30M) many top clubs would be all over him?

Its depressing how other top clubs negotiate their deals and how stupid we are at it, everyone take us for a ride.

But that's point b). If there was a bidding war they'd probably move on to someone else. I assume they have properly tapped up Gravenberch to the point where he's willing to (threaten to) run down his contract and then they make a low-ball(ish) offer to Ajax and tell them to play ball or lose him for free next year.

I don't really see how Gravenberch and Van de Beek are comparable in terms of the status they had when moving. It sure sounds right to me that Gravenberch would be significantly cheaper.

That's the way I see it, Gravenberch has one year left on his deal and wants Ajax to get a fee, so they're limited to what they can get without pissing off Gravenberch and Bayern.

Van de Beek wasn't expensive either, really, given the performances he had to show; it's just baffling how poorly it has worked out.

Pogba could be a fantastic signing for City. It would be really interesting to see him play in a well organized team.

One last throw of the dice to get United to offer even more money.

Won't work Paul, be on your way.
