I can't believe we're still trying to extend Pogba's contract. FFS, pull the plug and don't ever deal with Mino again.

We have quite a few top goalkeepers and also we could see that against Young Boys. Both goalkeepers did well who played. With David de Gea, we have a top goalkeeper as number one. This is a position where we have a minimum three, if not four or five good goalkeepers, and we will see what the situation will be like in the winter. I got to know [the players] better in this week - I saw most of them play in two games and three, four or five training sessions this week but it’s still too early to speak about what might happen in the winter transfer window. If I look at the number of players we have it’s still a big squad. We definitely don’t have not enough players. We also need to make sure that players want to stay here. If they are still not getting enough game time here it might make sense to speak individually with the players and see if a loan might make sense but now it's still too early to speak about that.

I think Pogba has overplayed his hand here, the economic debacle due to covid closed the doors for the italian clubs and barca. While Madrid can afford him I think they'll focus all their efforts on signing Mbappe and Haaland. I dont see any english club paying Pogba's wages, maybe Chelsea but for some reason I dont see it happening. Which basically leaves PSG and us, With his lately injury record and his up and downs performances I dont think he's worth an increased wages contract, I would offer him the same wages he already has or let him leave.

VDS has been dealing with the commercial side of the Ajax business. Overmars deals with the football side of things. Overmars is the DOF

Yes Overmars is the DOF but this is a totally different role to VDS. He was promoted to football CEO after doing marketing for a few years. His job is actually encompassing everything. He has a close relationship with his DoF and this is how it’s meant to be. A footballing CEO who can talk football, who’d have thought it? Don’t confuse with Woody who hasn’t a clue nor Arnold who has even less

His actual agent's his father, Alf Inge, and he would do the usual agent stuff for Erling. In this case, though, Raiola has been hired to specifically function as Erling's agent for the time being, and Alf is taking a back seat until Erling gets his next big transfer.

Additional context: Grêmio are relegated from the Brazilian Serie A, which makes Douglas Costa's situation interesting. Basically, there's no way for him to come back to Juventus in January, and he will remain in Grêmio for the time being. If he comes back in June, then Juventus will look to offload him.

On Paul Pogba again, he is now entering the final few months of his contract, so how much of a role can you play in keeping him at the club? Are you one of these coaches who has the view that, if a player doesn’t want to stay, he is not worth keeping?
I wouldn’t say not worth keeping but of course, players have to want to play and stay at the club. Also for a big club like Manchester United, if a player does not want to play for a club like this in the long term, I don’t think it makes sense to change his mind. This is such a massive club, with fantastic support from the supporters, I don’t think that anyone in the club would ever need convincing to stay here. But on the other hand let's wait and see, I have spoken with him for 15 minutes over the phone and my feeling is let’s get him back, training with the team, getting him fit and then we will see where we stand. He can be an important player, but I am fully aware of all the other players we have here, I am also a coach of all the other players too. My ambition is of course to make them better and that includes each and every player. This is then only possible by improving the whole performance of the team. It is impossible to develop every single player without the team being successful and also developing the team in a sustainable way.

On the January transfer window:
You have said over the past week that the January window is a particularly tough one ordinarily. If there was an opportunity to bring a player in, is it fair to say that it would be a defensive midfielder or a holding midfield player you would look at?
My opinion on winter transfers is clear. It needs to be a player that improves the whole team. It needs to be a high quality player, no matter what area of the pitch. If it’s a midfielder or whatever it is, it needs to be a player that really helps us to get better. On the other hand it needs to be a player that can perhaps move in the winter, then discussions can begin to be made. But only then if those two things come together will it serve us well. We also need, for this competitive league, to have the best possible mentality. They need to be mature and have a built-in winning mentality. For me, mentality is even more crucial than anything league in the world.

I don't think this counts as a decent source necessarily, but it was liked by the official Brighton And Hove Albion twitter account by accident I imagine, could mean there is some truth, and they are getting the extra striker in that they wanted. £20M for a player with 6 months left too, maybe Newcastle/West Ham could battle for Jesse so we get the same :wenger:

Well that's how it works. Agents work on commission, not contract afaik. If Raiola is talking about Halaand, and making it clear he's talking for Halaand, that means all parties are clear Raiola has the job of negotiating on Halaand's behalf
