shocker
Over 20m? That’s more than half of the new midfielder, we must definitely accept. This plus maybe 15 for Lingard - and we have 35+ to spend.
It shouldn’t be sorted it’s far better to get an aggregate overview of their styles but we won’t agree."Ok have a good day", then you continue the conversation
-James (or a hypothetical Memphis) shouldn't start for us. That means their workrate over 90 minutes isn't irrelevant (your stat isn't sorted by sub and starting appearances). If James were to start it should be a for cup game where we're completely on top, and in those games, I'd prefer Memphis.
You do understand Memphis tracks back if he comes on as a sub? You can look back at his sporadic sub appearances in the past, like those in the Brazil world cup. He made a run from his own half for the goal he scored. Why do you think he was deep in his own half?
Yes James tracks back more as a starter, but I wouldn't say he's better at pressing. He can cut off a passing option for the opposition's defense. but he's incapable of taking the ball off a CB (unlike Memphis who has bullied CBs on occasion and doesn't fall over every time he's challenged).
Memphis is good at pressing, evidenced by all the goals he's scored by winning the ball from pressing. I referenced the game against England where he did exactly that and pressed perfectly according to the manager's instructions.
Or do you think Stones/Maguire weren't under pressure when they gifted Memphis the ball and they'd have reacted the same to James running at them, who they could easily shield off the ball with just their pinky?
Have a good day.
Indeed. Hardly a bold prediction given there's less than 24 hours to go.Unless Alex Shaw is Luke's brother I'd say he knows about as much as I do about our remaining business, and I know feck all.
It shouldn’t be sorted it’s far better to get an aggregate overview of their styles but we won’t agree.
James shouldn’t just start cup games he’s well suited to games where we need to drop off and counter. Or pin back a opposing LB.
He’s not incapable of that.
We’re not going to agree here so good day. Memphis pressing once in a blue moon does not make him good at it. Over a sustained period it would be lying to call him a good presser.
This is a waste of both our time. You have an odd dislike of James and don’t seem to appreciate the role different styles of players can have.
Literally. It has crying baby faces in it.That's abit of a crybaby post by AMN but i can understand his situation
As if Arsenal couldn't get more depressing. I genuinely think they'll be relegated within the next few seasons. Sinking ship.
Not that far. May be in 10 years or 20 years but not in few years. The owner is rich enough to prevent relegation.
Genuinely don't think their owners care. And if/when they do, it will be too late to stop the slide.
Arteta is a bad manager, but who makes their current side competitive?
If you separate club's names/reputations from their squads, where do Arsenal's match up? Mid-table? Lower-midtable?
Assuming Aubameyang won't return to his best, they've got no match winners at this level bar Saka.
And this is after having spent more than anyone else this window. And they still need options in the positions they've bought for this summer, and this is before they've really shipped out their deadwood!
Some of you really want us to just buy any midfielder with no plan or purpose but just to fill up the numbers in there and when/if he doesn’t work out here, he will be deadwood or dross in a couple of years and you’ll be moaning for him to get out of the club like Fred, Matic and James. I mean, really?
Exactly, it all just smacks of the usual lack of planning and nousIf we were competent throughout the summer on offloading James, Lingard and Henderson then we would have a pretty tidy sum to invest in the midfield and a right back then challenge for the title.
