Relevant because this can affect football teams' abilities to buy players and pay for the transfers

Reeks of corruption, a desperate attempt to save Barca and Real from the abyss but I think we all expected it.

Imagine city get him instead of Kane now
Reckon this means haaland would be between us and Bayern next season

Real Madrid reportedly want him (Haaland) to join next summer together with their free transfer Mbappe in a new galactico forward line. They will be in the mix.

Yup looks like a sounding board for a move next season to me so Bayern get a run at Haaland.

So Lewandowski turns 33 on Saturday
Looking at the article closer, it looks like he wants a move to another team before he turns 35 and his contract runs out in 2 years (2023)
And he doesn't want to push for a move away

So probably nothing happens anyway

It's not that I totally disagree with helping them out, they're a big part of the football landscape whether you like it or not, but it does irritate me the extent their irresponsibility gets washed away. Barca especially had screwed themselves way before covid compounded their situation.

Also, Madrid got themselves into this mess before and were bailed out by the Spanish government. Pretty sure Barca regularly received very favourable loans to fund their transfers from Spanish banks as well.

They also completely monopolise the distribution of TV money in Spain, which has financially crippled most of the club's in la Liga for years. I know it's not completely equal in the PL, but the bottom team doesn't get that much less than the winners. I think in the Bundesliga it's a completely even split.

I don't want City or PSG to win the UCL, which is bound to happen sooner rather than later, but the ridiculous lengths Barca and Madrid went to try and maintain their preeminence has come home to roost. A period in the shadows is what they deserve.

Would be typical Madrid to be written off as a top club by many this Summer only to sign Haaland, Mbappe and Pogba next Summer. Bizarrely they could bring in those 3 for what? Just 70m euros or so in transfers fees.

Transfer fees are only half the story and are what the media and fans obsess over. The reality is that for those three players the total package would be close to three quarters of a billion.

I hope the Lewandovski rumours aren't true. Makes Haaland to Bayern that much more likely.

They can't register those... Their situation isn't as bad as Barca's, but they're not far off.

If Madrid sign Mbappe, its their title to lose. Barca significantly weakened and Atletico wont be able to keep up with their shite brand of football.

He's still very young. Madrid will always want him. He has a chance to play alongside one of the greatest players ever and dominate Europe.
Or maybe he wants to move to a relevant league where most matches mean something rather than 5-6 games in Europe? Also why should he wait when his dream move is on the horizon?

I don't think Haaland will want to stay in Germany. And I see absolutely no way that Bayern play ball with Raiola's demands.

He shows way more ambition moving to a struggling Madrid side wanting to take on the challenge being the top man. That’s way more admirable than being a part of a sport washing project in Paris.

I highly doubt he cares where matches meaning something. It’s just the Spanish league. It’s not that big of a difference. Ronnie put his dream on hold for one more year for United. Mbappe has all the leverage right now. He could put an affordable release clause in his new contract or run it down.

It's amazing that they spent 125M this season without actually getting any better.

White (50M) + Ramsdale (25M) + Odegaard (35m) + Lokonga (15m).

I guess they're building for the long term and if some of the bets pay off, they'll have a nice side in 2-3 years. Fair play to them if it works out, but this season has to be a write off regardless of whether it works out or not in the longer term. I'd be very surprised if they finish in the top 6.

That's quite the summer outlay, and I can't remember any outgoings, maybe Bellerin & Maitland-Niles in the coming days, not sure how much can they generate with these 2.

I don't see Bayern as being a front runner at all, mainly because I would think his wages will be ridiculous, due to having a very reasonable release clause. He'll still cost over £100 million with bonus and signing fees etc and then his wages probably break whatever strucgure Bayern have. I don't know the ins and outs of the club but they've always seemed fairly well run, sensibly run. I don't know if getting a player on 400-500k per week or whatever wage he'll get is really in line with how they run.

Doesn’t Mbappe want to become the main-man and have his own team (a la Ronaldo)? How does he imagine that dream coming to fruition if Real sign Haaland and Pogba along with him?

With Ramos and Varane already off the wage bill, and Modric, Bale, Marcelo and Isco all out of a contract next season, I don't think they'll have a problem registering them at all.

The post I quoted specifically mentioned this summer. It's an impossibility to get all 3 this window.

I do, feck em, they got themselves into this mess, (I say they, but almost entirely talking about Barcelona) with the arrogance, mismanagement and corruption. They can fix their own shit or go out of business.

As it would even if they were paying massive fees*. So they still save a huge chunk.

* Kane you’d imagine what? 125m + 400k /week + signing fee + bonuses = there’s a quarter of a billion on one player over 4 years.

Pay 450 k /week + 35m to Mbappe and his agent + bonuses and you’ve saved and absolute shit tonne.

This.

Will never happen though, the same with Real.

They will always be bailed out.

Over the life of their contracts sure, but when you're talking about players of that ability the wages are astronomical regardless so there isn't much use in worrying over that. At the end of the day free transfers are still cheaper, just not by as much as they appear initially.

The fact it's a possibility though means we should all be hoping Mbappe can force his way out to Madrid this summer and make them spend £100m+ to limit what they can do next summer with Haaland/Pogba etc.

Seems like Aubameyang and Lacazette could be pushing for moves out

Pretty sure Mbappe wants more than anything to win stuff.
Then why is he going to Real Madrid now? Given that their squad is on the decline (has been for the last couple of seasons). Surely he has a higher chance of winning the UCL for the next few seasons with the current PSG squad. They’ll probably add Pogba next summer as well.
