It's not far off what we paid for Pogba (assuming he leaves on a free at the end of this season).

Pogba: £90m inbound transfer fee + 6 years@£15m per year wages - £0 outbound transfer fee = £180m total (or £30m per season)

I'd rather have Messi for £30m per season than Pogba for £30m per season.

Surely the point of free transfers is to save yourself money though?

Also, Pogba was a young player with 8-10 years ahead of him potentially. Resale value etc or you can keep him over a longer period reducing his transfer fee over those extra years.

Ouch on the fee. £375k per week plus add ons.

Never got a chance at the club, sold for 28/30m, now bought back for 70m more and at the ripe old age of 28.

Interesting, if not a bit desperate.

Haaland to United.

We have made panic buys, but I dont think this qualifies. It has been Haaland and Lukaku as targets since before the window opened. When a €130 offer was made for Haaland and they didn’t want to counter, that was over and quickly on to Lukaku who Inter and their fan base really wanted to keep. The only thing that made it happen is their financial trouble is probably much worse than we know. The fact that their owner is being sued currently for defaulting on loans is probably the tip of the iceberg.

I think joking aside this pretty much rules you out of Haaland in the summer which is great for United.

With Barca in turmoil, Real looking like they will get Mbappe and Kane in city's mind it genuinely appears Haaland could well move to Old Trafford for the reduced fee to replace Cavani next summer.

Can't help but be happy with this.

Hyped for Varane and Maguire fighting out some duels with the Belgian. He belongs in the EPL.

Lukaku to Chelsea means Haaland is one step closer to us.

This, but there's still Bayern and Juve to consider.

I think Messi going to PSG and Lukaku to us makes Haaland to Man Utd much more likely. It will still require the Glazers to put out a ridiculous amount of money all up front to bring him in. Have the Glazers ever brought in an outrageously expensive player with no payments?

Bayern and Raiola don't usually mix but you never know, I doubt Juve are a threat though as Dortmund won't accept a 2 year loan with payment spread over the 10 years after that.

Yeah I agree that if Mbappe -> RM and Kane -> City go through, we're the prime candidate. I'd take any of the 3 rather than none, but Haaland just feels right (prolly because of Ole), though Kane would be a Fergie style signing as well.

The next best thing is Martinez or Lewandovski on a stop gap. We must go all out, even if it means CF is the only signing.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Dutch-Italian cnut uses the promise of Haaland to force us into giving Pogba an outrageous contract.

I wouldn’t be so quick to rule out Madrid in the chase for Haaland. This is the same team that signed Benzema, Kaka, and Ronaldo in one summer. If they can get Mbappe on a free transfer why wouldn’t they go for a cut price Haaland as well if they can find the cash?

Maguire is the big one. Leicester insisted on the full £80m.

I don’t worry about Juventus as they love a freebie and we can outspend them.

Bayern are interesting but Haaland seems to like to try new things so maybe won’t want to stay in Germany. It also depends if Lewandowski shows any decline. If he has another 40 goal season it’s hard to see Bayern spending £70m to add Haaland.

Liverpool might want a replacement for an aging Firmino. Their front three are in danger of growing old together.

I think Bayern will also provide very stiff competition for Haaland.

I wonder if Haaland himself will be keen to compete with Lukaku and Kane in the Premier league. I'm sure he's enticed by it, so hopefully we have a good chance.

If they get Mbappe, dont see them on Haaland, but who knows

You can imagine that they might be keen to build a galactico forward line - Mbappe (free) and Haaland (€75m) might be too tempting to turn down. Financially, they are in a much better position than Barca.

Mbappe is a special talent but any of them would be amazing additions, Ole will probably prefer Haaland or Kane as more traditional #9's.

Martinez seems to only want to go to Spain but we'll definitely be prioritising a Striker next summer, and I agree that Raiola will likely leverage what he wants for Pogba via Haaland, unless Paul just wants to run his contract down and leave.
