Horrible price on both deals. Glad United aren't involved in either.
It's not far off what we paid for Pogba (assuming he leaves on a free at the end of this season).

Pogba: £90m inbound transfer fee + 6 years@£15m per year wages - £0 outbound transfer fee = £180m total (or £30m per season)

I'd rather have Messi for £30m per season than Pogba for £30m per season.

You are very naive thinking Messi is 30m per season, he is 35m per season net salary, that is 82m before tax. Add sign on bonus and his father fees and he is 100m pers season, that is 2m salary per week. Do you think 34 years old Messi is worth 2m/week? you must be out of logic to accept that.

Anything to take a shot at Pogba for some people on here, logic usually doesn't come into play.

I have a feeling that city are acutely aware of the dangers of over spending every season the consequence it may have.

Money is no issue for these people but I believe they know that if they over spend massively, they will feck themselves and the PL will come down massively hard on them.

Yeah City look really worried.
All time British transfer record and wages, 100m and 370k a week on Grealish and pursuing Kane for 120m and probably 400k a week.

They're definitely keeping it subtle mate.

@Giggsyking is right on this one.

He's right about the before tax thing. I didn't realise that. He's wrong with his maths. And with his liberal omission of currency.

I know I'm going to be called a Pogba-hater for this, but I still think Messi is a better player.

The broader point I was making was that failing to get a transfer fee for selling Pogba is akin to buying a player at the end of his career who the club can't sell on either.

What?
Messi is on 30-35m net!

Not sure what their tax rules are, but imagine the actual wages they're paying. Plus the actual actual figure (not just what goes through the books).

I'm not sure how Pogba has come into it. He's a totally different player and 6 years younger.

A better comparison RE wage would be Ronaldo surely?

And your maths are way out as mentioned. In all honesty it's a strange comparison to throw up. You might aswell mention Grealish.

What has Pogba's age got to do with it?

My maths is fine. The tweet in your post didn't mention the tax thing, which I admitted I got wrong.

Well.. Barca would never be able to compete anyway, so if Messi going to PSG can keep CL out of the Pep Guardiola is my idol’s reach im 100% for that.

Exactly. If its not us winning it then PSG winning it will mean City/Liverpool and Chelsea havent.

Lions captain, has to cover his back just in case, who believes in such dumb PR.

The whole thing is strange let's be honest. I'm unsure why you started comparing Pogba and Messi.
Because you mentioned horrible prices and said you were glad United weren't involved. But I brought up that we have been involved in similarly horrible deals including one which is currently ongoing (if Pogba sees out his contract and leaves for free).

Similar in the sense it's nothing of the same? Sorry mate but as you said yourself the maths are wrong.

You're also bringing up a deal done in 2015/16 and we both know that club has thankfully started to get it's house in order since.

Just seems unnecessary to pick up on Pogba amidst all of this then even say you feel Messi is a better player, which we all know as he's arguably one of the best of all time.

Strange from the start

Lets calculate. 35m Net, is 82m euros before tax. He is getting a sign on fee bonus of 20m and nobody knows his fathers fees I would only guess it is in the region of 10m, that is 30m added to the two year deal, that is 97m euros total per year which will cost 1.9m euros per week. That is 1.6m pounds per week, which is the salary of Shaw, Maguire, Rash, Bruno, Sancho, Varrane, Cavani and Pogba all together.

if PSG can afford 1.6M a week for Messi, you wonder what Mpabbe will settle with for his contract extension?

  • Extension until 2025 + option to extend until 2026
  • Net base salary: 8 million Euros per year

First reported by AS from Spain:

Napoli are looking to bring him on loan or permanently for a low fee.

On whether the club is looking to bring in a midfielder
Yes, that’s the aim, we’ve been working on it for a few months now. We haven’t started looking at the last minute, but we’ve seen that the market is very closed off and complicated, not much is happening right now. There are players here and there signing on a free, but in terms of transactions things aren’t moving very quickly. Apart from Jack Grealish’s transfer to Manchester City, which might cause other clubs to start recruiting and start a game of musical chairs which we could benefit from by the end of the window.

On the Eduardo Camavinga situation
We’re still at the same point, as I was saying earlier the market is very difficult. It might well be linked to moves in other clubs.

On Camavinga’s contract being up at the end of the year
It’s what I’ve always said – when a player arrives at the end of their contract, either we extend them or we find a solution for them to leave. To leave on a free, for a player who came up through the club like him, I think is good for nobody.

He has the choice between saying “I want to leave” and “I want to stay”. I know what he wants to do, we then have to find a solution which satisfies all parties.

Chelsea are linked to him as well as Manchester City, Marseille, and several German clubs.

Official: Watford defender Philip Zinckernagel joins Forest on loan from Watford.
