Aimar as well. Whatever happened to him? Vaguely remember him popping up at Benfica but never really seemed to fulfill his potential.

After Benfica, he went to Malaysia for a year and then back to River for a short period. Had a lot of injuries there, retired after that and i believe is now assistant coach for the Argentinian national team and U17 manager (or was, not sure if he still managing the youth).

Injuries ruined him quite a bit.

  • City and Real Madrid are also monitoring Pau Torres.
  • A Pau Torres transfer is more likely after Euro 2020.
  • Matt Judge has started talks with Varane's camp.
  • Liverpool are also interested in Varane.
  • United will go "all out" to sign a new centre back this summer.

Be interesting to see him against us this week for a full 90mins. Have only really watched him in 20-30mins spells in Europe this season but from what I have seen I just dotn get it at all. Looks so average all round and the comparisons with Lindelof seem warranted to me and I dont mean comparisons in a good way either.....cue the "we need a left footed centre back" retorts

Wouldn't it be the same balance with Sancho, he is also competent in RW & LW

LW:
Rashford
(Sancho)
(Pogba)

CAM:
Fernandes
(Pogba)

RW:
Sancho
(Greenwood)
(Amad)

CF:
Cavani
(Greenwood)
(Rashford)

Fair enough, I'm happy with our window if we sign either and it's a pretty spoilt argument, I just have a preference for Grealish I guess. His ball retention matched with positive play is something I haven't seen in a long time.

His defending is pretty average, its his progression (both dribbles/carries and passing) and reading of play that is his strengths, and he is in the top top percentile in that. So yeah, the comparison is correct in some regards, but he is a better and younger Lindelof.

Yeah, but still better to use the money on position we actually need upgrade in. At least if Pogba stays.

Yeah if you look at when he was heavily linked to us in January 2020 it was when it looked like Paul was leaving in the summer

So Donnarumma is off then. To where?
Donnarumma to Juve?
There haven't been any strong links, but Juve have been the most commonly-named club to be linked to Donnarumma. Still, that doesn't necessarily mean that they're necessarily keen on him, especially since his wage demands (via Raiola) will be massive.

Ultimately, Maignan coming in will ruin the chances for Donnarumma to get a high salary at Milan or possibly anywhere else for that matter. I don't see any club giving into his demands, and Raiola will have to make a compromise to get his client signed up to another club.

Yeah he is top drawer but as I said earlier think he is fully dependent on Pogba leaving

Yeah, it's an interesting proactive move, not having the contract situation dragging on until he signs for someone else and they'll look desperate. Acted swiftly.

Was linked to United for a bit. Don't see us selling both our keepers, but is he as good as he was supposed to become years ago?

I think he's going to Juve, it's almost a club rule to have the Italy national team goalkeeper (Zoff, Tacconi, Peruzzi, Buffon).

What problems does Grealish solve, he competes with our 3 best players. That's not strengthening our first team.

I have a weird feeling that we are going to do feck all this summer window

He's become one of the best shot-stoppers in Serie A and possibly the world, but that's about it. He's an okay aerial presence but doesn't get out of the box that much, and he's not that good on the ball, either. Overall, he's become the keeper that everyone expected him to become, no more and no less.

United won't likely sell both Henderson and de Gea, but there are a few murmurings that we'll sell one of them and bring in a new keeper, though the rumours aren't necessarily that believable.

Cheers for that. He doesn't sound like he fits the requirements of the modern goal keeper, if that's the case. Few do. Neither of ours do, really. Saw something about Barca looking for a shiny new keeper, with ter Stegen in limbo. Doubtful though, he's one of the few who'd be an obvious upgrade here that I can think of.

Next week it will be announced that Zidane doesn´t continue. Allegri will take his place

So who are you hearing is more likely to stay out of Varane/Ramos as obviously both of them aren't going to leave

Am the only one who expects nothing from this transfer window? I mean 1 or 2 squad players (Johnstone, James mk2), some youngsters and 0 upgrades on first XI.

I think the opposite - with all the negative PR over the last few months, the restructure with some of the staff and new CEO, being on the verge of a title challenge and Ole publicly saying we need to add players in recent interviews - then I think this is the window we make a statement.

So sick of hearing about that midfielder we need to sign that "frees up Paul Pogba to express himself" every transfer window, like it's the team's fault Pogba has been such a disappointment in central midfield.
we already have a midfielder who is "free", he is called Bruno...works much harder than Pogba with incredible results.

If we signed up 9 wrestlers they could put the opposition in a headlock thus freeing up Pogba to do his thing.

I'd definitely take him for £35m

I'd say Ramos at the moment, as he's actually out of contract at the end of June, whereas Varane still has a few years left.

Its not pogbas fault either really. He's best in a 3 and we don't play that way, and it is true that with the options we have there isn't someone who can do the dirty work he isn't very good at.

I haven't watched much of him. But living in Wolverhampton, fans consensus seems to be he doesn't move enough and a bit lazy. If true, wouldn't go down well here.

This is what happens when you allow an agent run a club. It's a form of asset stripping. Didn't they buy some kid for €40m?

Would take him. Can control the game from deep, great range of passing. Would work great next to Fred in a 2.

Yeah, I don't think he's the most mobile, but offers something really different to what we have.

He can really pass a ball from deep, but I don’t know if the rest of his game is good enough for the very top level.

I think he is the right profile of midfielder we could do with but this season he hasn't looked all that good. At £35m, I'd take a punt on Neves though. A different type of midfielder but I have the similar thoughts about Bissouma at £30m.
