I can't really see a window where we get both Sancho and Rice.
Andy Mitten was the cautious one in that podcase. Said he doesn't see us forking out 140m for anyone, just like he didn't see us forking out 120m for Sancho last year (which he was consistent in saying in, and quite right in the end too).
They also noted that whilst Martial can be used in a deal, Glazers absolutely love him and don't want to see him go.
It's not just the shirts, it's the cachet. Sponsors will be willing to pay more for him in the team. He is one of the few bona-fide global stars around.
Rice on his own will be considered a marquee signing. He will cost morw than Bruno Fernandes for one.
Especially when he plays a leading role in winning us the Euros.
I would say thats entirely sensible too. All the noise coming out of Old Trafford in the last year is that covid has crippled the club and it'll have an effect on our summer transfer budget. Anyone expecting us to spend Jose levels of money this Summer are dreaming. Due to covid it's unlikely we'll receive huge bids for players out of favour too.
We could probably claw together £50-60m in player sales, thinking Lingard, Pereira, Matic, de Gea/Hendo. Add on another £50-75m in our war chest. We're looking at one big name signing and a few lower key signings.
I have just watched several youtube videos of Soumare. If we let Leicester have him for less than 20 million I will be a tad upset. Looks quality
Think the Sancho money is there irrespective of sales, but the CB will come in from those sales and we seem to be quite confident that we'll cobble enough from those sales to get a CB of decent repute in, judging from the reports that have been consistently coming out.I would say thats entirely sensible too. Ole says we need 2 or 3 but we need around 4 actually. Either way, it sounds like Ole is determined to get the players he wants this window.

Damien can we have transfer tweets link in the menu please?
Yep, it'll be added once there are a few tweets in this thread.
Wijnaldum to Bayern Munich?
On Sancho, a reminder that we've yet to even get in touch with Dortmund, and the furthest we've gone this summer is the talks with Sancho's reps.
That's right. This should be straightforward for us if we want to pull the trigger unless we want the price to drop even further.Don't need to get in touch with them. Spent all last summer preparing the bid. We'll send the bid when the window opens. It'll look like quick business if you forget we did all the leg work last summer.
Don't do that...2018: Grant, Fred, Dalot
2021: Heaton, Arambarri, Trippier
Time is a flat circle.

I spoke to him a few months ago and told him that I would like to play with him again. So, who knows what the future has waiting for us. For me, he is a really, really top player.
Don't do that...
We've had a few players on loan that might come back in, there is interest in a few others, maybe going out. But you want to come out of the transfer window strengthened and it might be we allow some players to go out and gain experience, come back stronger for it. Apart from that, it's difficult to say. I can't see too many outgoings.
We're talking to Juan. We've had good dialogue, good discussions and that dialogue will continue. Let's see what he wants to do at the end of the season. He's such a top professional, a very good player. It's hard for me not to play him more than I have done. There have been circumstances this season, personal issues that made him less available, but still he is a top player. That decision will be made after the season is finished.
Such a shame how things turned out for him. And I suspect that his injuries and the long, well paid contract he had meant he wasn't willing to take a chance on going elsewhere, on less money, to play every week. It's hard to begrudge someone who has seen first hand how frail a footballer's career can be.Former United player Matty James will also be leaving Leicester City at the end of the season.
I hope he does, I really hope he does. He has changed our squad completely.
From the first session he was brave on the ball, he’s an out and out No10 - always on the half-turn and facing forward and that is the player we needed. The game he played against Villa when he scored two, we knew we had a real gem on our hands.

The relevant Bruno Fernandes quote:
Context: Bruno Fernandes and Piotr Zielinksi were together in Udinese for 2-3 years.

Bruno loves name dropping players he’d like us to sign doesn’t he?
ye that worked rather well last time...Yeah. Someone is getting desperate. Think we are playing a waiting game. To see if anyone else would be interested to bid for Sancho so that we can play low ball.
Agreed. If we sign Sancho then Rice is not possible barring a massive Lingard exchange discount. So options/targets seem to be -
GK - Heaton(free)
CB - Varane/Torres/Kounde
RB - Trippier
CDM - Rice
RW - Sancho
If possible - Kane/Ronaldo
The only one that seems unrealistic to me is Rice (exc Kane/Ronaldo), he'd cost a fortune and wouldn't be worth the value. Rice and Sancho in one window is silly money.
We don't get money from shirt sales unless it's directly from the club shop/online store. That's already baked into the deal we signed with Adidas. The only chance he leaves Juventus is on a free and Juventus are happy to let him go on a Free.
His wages are too much for Juventus, they can't pay it anymore.
Ronaldo would probably have to take a wage cut but like I said , his Marketing and Shirt Sales would cover half of his wages. Imagine the Shirt Sales in China with Ronaldo
