Be nice surprise if that were true, then all in for Haaland next summer
I think it is. I feel the owners had doubts over Ole last summer but, now seeing the team come closer to the league then expected they will go banana on spending to bring the title. Not that they care about the fans, but United back at the top would increase the value even more.

We are in for a mega summer spending IMO.

I hope you’re right, especially to say sorry for the ESL mistake etc.. but I feel like I’ll wake up with my head in a bowl of cornflakes if I start believing

Ronaldo would command £50 million plus easily still. Zero chance he would be available on a free, especially considering what Juventus paid for him.
I agree, wouldn't look good on FFP after the palaver they went through for the Pjanic/Arthur deal to make sure the books stacked up.

I also feel like Henderson would command much more than £15m, I think he'd go for £25-30m easily. Then factor in getting a fee for Matic, Chong, Pereira, Dalot and probably Tuanzebe, plus the wages of these players plus Mata and Romero, we should be having a good summer sales wise and money coming in/wages saved.

Over to John Murtagh to show us what he's capable of.

The only chance he leaves Juventus is on a free and Juventus are happy to let him go on a Free.
His wages are too much for Juventus, they can't pay it anymore.

Ronaldo would probably have to take a wage cut but like I said , his Marketing and Shirt Sales would cover half of his wages. Imagine the Shirt Sales in China with Ronaldo

You know we do not directly get more money based on the number of shirts we sell right?

We receive a set figure yearly.

Saying that, it could help us with future negotiations with Adidas or any other future shirt manufacturer, but there won't be an immediate impact on our revenue through shirt sales if we signed Ronaldo tomorrow.

Ah, makes sense. Martial should probably be added to that list too.

He mentioned Martial actually, but then said what we've all heard before - that he's Joel Glazer's favourite player and all that.

But didn't rule out the possibility of us trying to include him and/or Lingard in a deal for Kane (apparently Spurs remain "long-standing admirers" of Martial)

Cheers for the info.

Ronaldo would probably cost No transfer Fee and only wages.

And let's be honest his marketing and Shirts sales would cover 50% of the Wages Minimum.

In:

Heaton free
Sancho 70M
Rice 60M
Pau Torres 40M
Ronaldo free

Out:
Lindgard 25M
Martial. 25M
Dean Henderson 15M

105£ Million Net Spend

Why are people getting rid of Henderson? Have I missed something?

Surely one of Lindelof, Axel and/or Jones will be off when a centre-back comes in.

Jones should go but I don't see why we'd get rid of anyone else. We've been relying on two CBs all season.

If one of Harry, Lindelof or new CB is injured and we need to rotate I'd want Bailly and Tuanzebe in case either is also crocked.

Ole basically just said the same. I’m confident we’ll sign Rice, Sancho/another attacker and a CB and have been for a few months.

love that quote, message straight to the board

Promising quote that. Making it crystal clear he wants a few in publicly is good to see. Hopefully this means he's been given actual assurances we're going to do what needs to be done.

So how much do you think we are going to splurge then and what gives you confidence

Why the feck are we selling our number 1 goalkeeper for 15m?

Strong quote from Ole. I expect us to do some good business, hopefully things are done quickly for once.

That's a very promising quote. Seems like Ole knows exactly what he wants.

Can't help but feel a little skeptical about who might have leaked all that extremely positive info to one source for a drop of fan satisfaction.

Love the Ole quote; put your desires out in public so we know it falls on if the business doesn't get done.

I think they do spend when they believe they can get to the top and we are here (about to get there). It's not confidence, I would not trust them to tell me right from left but they do want United to be the most valuable club.

How much is impossible to tell IMO and not because I'm avoiding the question, but because clubs have major financial problems. I would say that in a normal market, we should look for a 300mil euros spend. In this market, prices are going to be much lower so it's probably smarter to think in terms of players. I believe is reasonable to expect a Sancho plus a Rice plus one or two significant signings.

Well its a dumb "leak" if there's no plan on achieving any of it because that will just make the fanbase even more angry. No fans going to get satisfaction from just being linked to players, we've seen it for years.

I don't disagree, but there is a large part of today's fanbase (the active social media types with tons of following) that make their money on transfer rumors and getting supporters into a frenzy over the possibility of blockbuster signings from May-August.

If it doesn't pan out they will say they tried to sign these players, but the club's demands were far too high and Covid revenue has limited their ability to spend.

Maybe they'll say: "If you let us create a super league we could have bought them all"

Would happily take Rice. If Lingard open to staying there we could possibly involve him in the deal although I doubt he wants to stay there. Kounde very good option at CB and we seriously have to sign Sancho even if it meant Martial out. For me if Sancho doesn't get signed it's another trash window.

Ah the old Shirt sales myth.

We are locked into a 10 year deal with Adidas for 75m a year.

Any extra shirt sales from a new signing won't make a huge difference to United and so no his shirt sales won't cover any of his wages.

Positive quote that and a direct message to the board, he got screwed last summer, they will have half of manchester flying to Florida if the same happens again

He'll have retired by the time the current deal is up

It's not just the shirts, it's the cachet. Sponsors will be willing to pay more for him in the team. He is one of the few bona-fide global stars around.

Laurie is usually the one who gives us a dose of reality when it comes to transfers, has gone from cautious to crazy
Andy Mitten was the cautious one in that podcast. Said he doesn't see us forking out 140m for anyone, just like he didn't see us forking out 120m for Sancho last year (which he was consistent in saying in, and quite right in the end too).

They also noted that whilst Martial can be used in a deal, Glazers absolutely love him and don't want to see him go.
