He's a different option to Lindelöf. He doesn't have his defensive awareness and reading of the game, but he's taller, quicker, and a more aggressive 1-on-1 defender. He'd be Bailly's backup, basically. Ideally, Lindelöf and Maguire would compete for one of the defensive spots against each other, but at this time, given our lack of depth, Maguire has to always start, and Lindelöf competes with Bailly.

If we get replace Smalling, Jones, and Rojo appropriately, these would be our CB options (in no order):
  • Stopper
    • Bailly
    • new CB
    • Tuanzebe/Mengi (or both)
  • Sweeper
    • Maguire
    • Lindelöf
  • New all-rounded CB? (Konaté makes sense here)

Can you honestly see us signing two CB's though when we still need a CDM/DLP & RW for the first XI

Not at all. I'm only expecting one CB. That's why I put a question mark on the 2nd one. If they are available at a good price, we might go for them, but I fully expect us to go for a new CB + Sancho.

Do you reckon we will still go for a CDM type player too because think we still need a proper number six who is pretty damn good on the ball and capable of taking it from our CB's

Sancho set in stone, hope we make them sweat before making a bid and do the deal how we want to.

Maybe a bid for Reyna too, the kid is class, can't believe Dortmund would consider selling him.

Will it be us that goes for Jadon though is the big question

Sancho's this season's form is not that great. but my wish is we go for Haaland rather than Sancho. both will be awesome, but I doubt Dortmund will sell both of them to us.

Still hoping that Haaland doesn't move until summer 2022

Yeah, he wont move till all COVID related financial issues are done with ( Mino is his agent, he'll move when there is a big fat contract available) . he'll be auctioned between the big 5 for sure.

Manchester United is being linked to Soucek from Westham, is there something concrete there?

Saw him against us in the league and FA cup, seen that he scored few goals too, not sure if he's good enough.

He’s their version of McTominay

Need to get the CB signing right. If we can get a CB who can have a VVD like effect on the team, we should be able to challenge City easily next year. A very good defense is the backbone of a great team. IMO a CB & DM to shore up the defense is way more important than an attacking player. We won't win much if we keep leaking goals every match. A class CB like Konate, a DM like Zakaria and a RW, preferably Sancho, would be my ideal summer. Would love to get Grealish, but only after we have brought in a proper CB and DM. With Romero, Mata and probably Lingard leaving this summer, in addition to Rojo who has already left, don't think there will be a problem with wages.

Tyrone Mings? Are they having a laugh? Don’t want that dirty bastard anywhere near the club. Has to be one of Kounde or Konate for me.
Dawson throwing the name of Mings into his piece makes me doubt his whole piece. But if we're seriously looking at Mings then I give up, because he's nothing but a brute.

That David Carmo seems a similar profile to Mings — he’s massive too (6’5) and appears a bit of a unit. Seems to win a similar-ish amount of aerial duels to Mings too.

Just guessing we’ve scouted both, neither will be high up the list. If at all.

EDIT: Appears that Carmo has been hit with a really bad injury. Definitely off the list then.

He's a good player for WH but nowhere near good enough for us from what I've seen.

Get real Fellaini vibes from him... don't mean that as an insult as Fellaini is/was a good player too, just not the kind of profile in midfield we want to go back to.

I absolutely agree. I think he's more limited than Fellaini was though. I think the reason Soucek is having such a good goalscoring season is the element of surprise to him. Once people work him out, he'll struggle to get as many goals I think.

Certainly not a player we should be looking at

Feck Mings. One of those players I just couldnt warm up to, even if he were a good player.

CB / DM / RW this summer (as a poster mentioned above) and we'll be in really good shape next year, Pogba or no Pogba.

Something like Konate / Zakaria / Sancho and we'd be as good as anyone I reckon. With prices deflated who knows - maybe that costs ~£150-200m?

Money well spent to shore up the spine of the team, especially if Pogba claws some cash back & we get rid of deadwood wages such as Mata / Lingard / Romero etc.

A guy can dream ey.

Seems like that would be most people's ideal summer, mine included.

Address the striker issue the summer after and then hopefully it's small additions each summer rather than needing lots of additions each year.

Am I the only one who thinks Mings wouldn't be a bad signing? Yes , he is not elite but definitely not a poor signing. He has come leaps and bounds .
Konate is way too injury prone. Kounde is too light and have doubts regarding his adaptability (could just be another Lindelof)
