Based on my memory, the difference between Maguire and Sancho is that we're interested in Sancho whilst the club wasn't unanimously interested in Maguire at the time. Obviously, things changed when Ole came in, but that's how far things fell under Mourinho in his final summer with us.

The club was interested in Maguire but not at the asking price, which seems to be the same here, as the club has briefed, they wont pay the asking price and have other targets (according to club briefs)

Right, I don't recall any negotiations between us and Leceister (correct me if I'm wrong). Also, we've only briefed/been reliably linked with Coman and Douglas Costa at this time. Grealish and Brooks have been linked by Sky mainly, but none of the United journalists came out about them (except for Luckhurst re: Brooks, but it's just him). That's about it, though; there have been no developments regarding other options for a good while now.

So it's a 1 year deal with the option of another year, which makes so much more sense.

Thats what happened that summer with Maguire too and we signed no CB. Not saying that what will happen, but past experience says we could certainly not sign Sancho without briefing the deal is off.

With Thiago Silva coming in at his advanced age I hope Frank stops the 'Kante as a #8' experiment where he's running forward all the time. Kante playing deeper in a midfield 2 where he can screen the defense will be a huge help for Silva. Basically how Marqinhos was deployed in front of him at PSG.

That's not where Kante shines though, he's at his best when he's winning the ball in midfield and starting counters, now that Chelsea have an agile front 4, that's where he is going to be most effective. You don't want him to be disciplined screening the back 4.

Fair enough; we'll see what happens at the end of the day.
Why do Juventus even want him though? He's bog standard.
There are no reliable reports from Italy on this. Take Tuttosport with a pinch of salt.

What a window Chelsea is having. Werner, Ziyech, Havertz, Chilwell and Silva. Talk about getting serious! In comparison we have been sloth like.

We've bought Bruno, Maguire AWB n James when all they did was make Kovacic's loan permanent.

So despite Chelsea making some great moves we have spent shed loads of money recently too when they couldn't.

top deal that. I still think he is good, Decent athlete, Excellent positioning and intelligence. I think for a year or two, he should be fine

I just mean slightly deeper and more disciplined in his positioning. Our biggest weakness was the quick turnover in midfield. With Kante further advanced like he was it left Jorginho totally exposed to counters.

But it’s true....not a stan....just fully in the realism camp....we have spent an ungodly amount of money on players and managers HAVE been backed.

If you think spunking nearly £1BN on players isn’t a sign that the owners want to return to the top then I don’t know what is....absolutely perplexed that you think the owners don’t want to see success at United again.

I’ll say it again.

OVER EIGHT HUNDRED MILLION POUNDS
They have also taken out a similar amount for themselves and to pay off their loans. They are to blame for the current problems of the club.

Bayer Leverkusen transfer updates:

I'm sure that Schick wouldn't mind playing for Leverkusen despite preferring RB Leipzig. Fulham coming, though...

This is all info from Mundo Deportivo and Cat1 Radio. All of this does indicate wholesale changes, but that remains to be seen; I doubt that Koeman would get rid of leaders like Busquets in his team, but I can see him letting go of players like Umtiti and Rakitic.

If Chelsea are taking Silva for a year, why don’t we take Suarez for a year?! :nervous:

Only joking guys. In all seriousness, when I read that they were planning on getting rid of him I didn’t think anyone could afford him. Might be different if they actually do terminate his contract. Will be interesting how many Barcelona actually manage to clear out.

No point loaning him. It's not like he'd come back as a #2

He's got a year left on his contract and nobody seems to have any money to buy anyone. If we pick up his wages and chuck you a couple of mil then everyone's a winner.

You don't really want to be going into the season with De Gea, Henderson AND Romero.

Give us a lend of one of them, don't be stingy.

 don't be a cheapskate now.. Roman just needs to take a bit more from the Russian pensioners to fund this.

Your lot can buy one of DDG or Henderson for 50m. Same price as Chilwell and so much cheaper than Kepa.

Do you guys think that if we came in for DDG you'd sell? That way there would be no painful transition or controversy with Henderson.

I can't wait for the multiple salty and passive-aggressive Mourinho comments about Chelsea's transfer window

I'm not salty about it all. Chelsea are having a fantastic window no question.

But where are they going to finish in the league? 3rd at best. So basically you're going to do what we did last season. Pay fortunes to finish as best of the rest.

Pep n Klopp aren't be overtaken by Lampard, Ole, Jose or Arteta are they next season? It would take something truly extraordinary for Liverpool n City to not finish in top 2.

Didn't realise he's in his last year. I definitely think we can sell him to someone. No point loaning to a rival when we could just hold off and watch you spend tens of millions on a non-sure thing instead (unless you really go all out and buy Oblak).

There's 3rd and there's 3rd.

If we finish 20 points behind second on 66 points Frank will probably get sacked. If we finish 1 point behind second on 86 points (with the champions getting 90+), that will be a huge improvement and a decent, realistic job.

In the current market, who is buying a 33rd year old, 3rd choice goalie who has less than 12 months on their contract?
