British FC has worked really well so far. James, Maguire and AWB have all been very impressive.

Ole’s great success has been tempering Ed’s ego and getting him to sign the likes of James. The best thing that can happen is for fans to realise there is talent out there in the lower leagues around the world.

Honestly I think the British FC idea is BS. I think it's simply a question of wanting players that understand the responsibility of wearing the badge and playing for the club. Doesn't matter what nationality the player is, they have to WANT to play for this club. Maddison, Sancho, Rice and co. also happen to be excellent prospects - would love to see them come next summer. CL qualification is critical especially for someone like Sancho who could have his pick of elite clubs if he were to move.
It’s good to have a British contingent in the team, ideally a British core. There seems to be a surge of good British talent occurring at the moment especially if German teams are looking at them with interest. We should jump on it but don’t buy them for the sake of British.

I think the British core is important because they'll get United more and then you eliminate that temptation that they would want to smell the roses in a different league or to a rival. We are a big enough club that we should never be a vehicle, rather the pinnacle and should only lose players because we want to do so. I'm not saying sign exclusively British, but I've if we could land a trio over Maddison, Rice and Maguire after landing James, AWB & Maguire, who've all shown promise, then I think that's just signing the right players period. It would indicate a step in the right direction and a plan. We've just re-signed Dave for the long run, hopefully we can get something similar out of Pogba.

Anyone with eyes would want Sancho, he's a top talent and a cut above anyone else we could get for the wing, I'm not convinced on Maddison though and certainly not for that kind of money, he reminds me of Lallana too much, I'd prefer we went for Havertz or tried to get Isco or Odegaard as part of the deal for Pogba next summer. Don't want Longstaff or Wilson and I've never seen Collins play but if he's cheap like James then cool.If this is British FC, by god, what were the Busby Babes eh?
Where does this idea come from? Unless they are United fans growing up they most likely grew up hating us as everyone did before Fergie retired, you look at the clubs that consider us their rivals, you need two hands to count them. Nobody in the last 20 years has gotten Manchester United better than Evra and he's French, I swear the Ronaldo situation has made people paranoid, look at City, they have kept Aguero and Silva for the bulk of their careers at the top and that was long before Lord Pep showed up, if we build a team that competes players will want to play for us regardless of their nationality.
A team from over half a century ago from an era where lots of players stayed at one club for their whole careers and hardly anyone country hopped bar South Americans and lots of people had to go down to the bottom of their yards with some newspaper when they needed a shit, things have moved on a lot since then.
In absolute terms, what were they? What launched a 1000 ships? What made Manchester United? What story was told?

I was at the second of these games, and while he scored in that game, it was was an absolute gift of a goal. Lyon were awful though so he really didn't get much of the ball at all so not much to go on. He laid it off a few times that was decent. But not enough to to judge much he can lead the while. Substituted in the second half too for one of our old boys, Memphis Depay.
If that is the case, give it to him (not that I believe it)

Yeah but he scored….you could say the same about Aubameyang...he does very little in his matches, but he scores goals.

Yeah but I really can't stress enough how much this was an absolute gift. I can only go on what I say in that game, I haven't seen too much of him. He didn't do much to stand out, but as I mentioned above Lyon really were very poor. He's had a good start to the season in terms of goals though, but he hasn't been historically very prolific. Then you have to consider the Premier League is a big step up and I'm not sure this is the guy to resolve our goalscoring issues.
Been watching him lately. He is not like Silva. Maybe he'll improve, but he is not at the level required to even think of top teams in Italy at the moment.

Yeah, I can agree with the latter. I wasn’t trying to compare them in style, just think he has some great attributes that could translate well if he can adapt.
I can't claim to be an expert on Ligue 1 as I only really follow the games of the team, but he's also had a good start to the season in terms of goals. He certainly seems to have become more productive since leaving United. In the game I was at Wednesday he got maybe 30 minutes at most. Came on and played as the center forward. Mostly tried collecting the ball deep and running at Brest's defence. He didn't do much personally, but Lyon in general looked more dangerous after he replaced Dembele.
It would be even more our style to do so in January in a blind panic, rather than during the summer window when it was clear as day we needed reinforcements p front.
Proactive clubs do that, we are the most reactive football club in the world and it disgusts me.

He plays with physicality and grit I think this enough would be a good asset to comprise our weak midfield. I think he lacks experiance in his position and does waste passes here and there but he's definitely promising.
