Won't be surprised if Pogba signs a new contract and then leaves in the summer.
He is generally behaving well but it s clearly that his heart is elsewhere.

Preserving value is the only reason I can think of for him to be given a new deal*, but does 3-4 years make that much of a difference in the market as oppose to the 2 years he's got left next summer?
*assuming he is desperate to leave

Thing is, Pogba signing a new deal would make it even less likely Madrid can afford him next summer - we'd be asking fro like £200m or something!

Why would he sign a new deal that prevents him from ever leaving? He won't be signing a thing, in my opinion.

He's like all players - they just see the money, and presume a club or agent will get them out of it later on if they decide they want a move.

See Maguire. He knew we were after him, yet still took the new long deal, even though it made it harder for us to get him.
See a lot of Tottenham players etc.

Haven't quite a few of the Spurs players refused to sign?

I think if he signs it will be with a fee already agreed for next summer with Real

They're starting to get it now, but before that it was player after player signing long deals and it didn't make sense.

And rightly so, I can't believe Eriksen has been on £70-80k a week for the last 4 years.

By the way, just typing that figure out and thinking it's low seems crazy as that's 3x what I make in a year!

If he refuses, then we should definitely sell him and get good money. We can then continue our rebuild like Liverpool did when they sold Coutinho. Will he be a miss? Yes, but we can certainly live without him. We'd just need to spend the money wisely.

Our Angel Gomes, contract up next summer. Could be another Pogba situation :nervous:
I hope we've learned our lesson. I think he'll sign a new contract. Hopefully gets good minutes during Europa and cup runs.

He was not in the A squad for Europa, not sure it have any real effect, but still...

You’ve misunderstood that squad announcement I think.
I did understood it, but in my mind I expected him to be our main man for that competition, now I will not be surprised to see us start Mata...

This is pure bullshit. We all know that the right players won’t be available and that we will get Smalling back from loan and he will be communicated as “almost a new signing”.

Aren't you a ray of sunshine this morning

It’s not bullshit. It’s what everyone says. Low and behold when you get to January no one wants to sell, so no ones available. This is a classic Ed leak.

And Mata, apparently Scholes resigned to the club on a free in the Jan 2012 window, Vidic was also a Jan signing
Patrice Evra and Henrik Larsson too

I think it is highly likely we ll do some business in January.

So, four games into the season and - with our form and performances looking poor - the leaks begin, as predicted:

  • United seeking DofF.
  • January signings could be imminent.

In reality, what's really going on behind the scenes is we're gearing up to reward mediocrity with a new contract for Lingard; Young is a first teamer again ALREADY due to injuries; our new, improved defence is leaking goals and looking shaky.

Ed spinning those fake positives vibes already.

Ability with the ball? He's fecking atrocious with his feet. Unless you love a keeper who keeps kicking the ball out of touch..

Oh my fecking god, if there's any truth in Pickford I will be throwing in the towel. He is a nightmare of a 'keeper, but he's English and to that effect he might well be fitting the bill.

I would MUCH rather give Henderson/Romero a season then decide on a 'keeper than sign Prickford.

Mario Mandzukic approaches the transfer to Qatar: negotiations that continue and get in touch to try to find the total agreement
