Good. Time to put a stop to players thinking they can come in and demand anything they want. Made the same mistake with Sanchez. Yes, Dybala is younger, but his last few seasons with Juve have been sub-par and whilst he would most likely be an upgrade on our current attacking midfielders, it doesn't't always mean its the best decision for the team. That, and I get the feeling he doesn't want to be here anyway.

I really hope we do get a number 10 this window, because its clear we struggle finding that final pass. If not, we should go all out for Maddison next season, in my opinion.

Hope Dybala enjoys staying at a club whos manager has no use for him and tried to push him out so bluntly.

He'll be fine. They sold Kean and now Mandzukic is on his way out. Higuain is finished. They need forwards, especially U-33 ones.

To be quite honest, I don’t think we’ve learned anything. Had the agent requested a more reasonable fee then you can bet we would have paid it then possibly had Di Maria v2.0 on our hands.

Time and time again we get drawn into protracted sagas for signing players, Bruno Fernandes has been all summer long yet we wait for the 11th hour to pull our finger out. It’s always last minute with us.

How come other clubs get their main business sorted fairly early? I have absolutely no faith in Ed and we still don’t have a DoF...it’s just a bit of a shitshow all round.

I don’t mind Dybala not coming here, he clearly didn’t want to come and that’s fine, but yet again we find ourselves scurrying around trying to tie up deals that, with more assertiveness (and a competent DoF) could well have been done weeks ago.
This isn't a protracted sage. Its only taken a week!
We were offered a player in exchange and assessed the possibility.
I honestly don't see what we have done wrong here.

According to reports Inter and Napoli are still interested

Inter appear to still want him and I think that is where he wanted to go. It was only the lure of Dybala that derailed it a bit.

This is my last post, but clearly both those clubs do not have the funds required to buy Lukaku at the price we want for him. Interns supposed hugest bid is €70 million when we want closer to €90 million, Napoli haven’t even made an official bid.

So unless we buy Mandzukic and then hope they stump up the amount required once our window is shut, which puts us at a disadvantage as we would either have to accept or go into the season with Lukaku as a 3rd choice striker which is crazy.

At least I don't have to read that dick head going 'Siiiuuuu' again.

Seems like I’m in minority but I’d rather keep Lukaku then get 50-60mil and Mandzukic.

Lukaku has burnt his bridge here, its going to be cancer having him sit on the bench and pout for an entire season while his value implodes and we sell him for 30mil to Inter Milan in a years time. Get rid of him while we can

Past few seasons? Just last season really.

Anyway, I think it could still be on depending on how his meeting with Sarri goes.

There is no way to salvage this window anymore. In a few days when we have no more incomings, I am going to have a meltdown that people will be talking about 20 years from now when we are in the championship.

Even if you're not a fan of Lukaku, you'd have to feel selling him and replacing him with 33 year old Mandzukic is a downgrade.

Our attack is already quite weak, downgrading our attacking options isn't exactly what I was expecting out of the summer.

The Dybala thing is for the best. We are a club on a precipice at the moment, big name players will not fancy us while we are in limbo like this. Also, we do not need another overpaid mercenary whose heart isn't in it. We might have dodged a bullet here.

Lukaku has severed ties with us. I reckon he'll still leave, we might now end up being lowballed by Inter though.

I'd still sign Mandzukic, for the price quoted, as his short-term replacement. And go full-bore for Fernandes.

The Dybala briefing is exactly like that Griezmann one a couple seasons back.

We pretty screwed this season, definitely need some midfield reinforcements at the very least.

Pull yourself together man

Not massively disappointed if we don't get Dybala but we do need an alternative. Wouldn't be the worst thing if Lukaku were to stay.

I disagree. Mandzukic works infinitely more harder than Lukaku. I'd rather have him in the team.

Plan B: go all out balls to the wall for Zaha?

25% discount with our buy-back clause: it makes too much sense.

#Zaback

Zaha in that 10/second striker role is dangerous. However, with Rashford, James and Martial, they'd be too many dribblers in the final third and not enough passers, which is what we slightly struggle with when it comes to the final ball.

Hilarious to see all the talk about how we have learnt the lessons from previous bad deals as if the same management including the manager didn't just months back give new contracts to Mata ,Young and Phil Jones . I am no fan of paying players over the top but give some kids a chance then rather than paying silly money to Young & Mata

Interested to see how this one unfolds.
Juve clearly don't want Dybala right now and will be pissed that their chance of getting Lukaku is scuppered because of him, so behind closed doors, I can't see things being pretty.

From the United perspective, maybe the deal isn't dead, but it could easily be that we're saying, if you don't drop your demands, we'll pull the plug, leaving Dybala making a choice.
Be uncomfortable with the situation at Juve or drop his wage demands and move to a club that actually wants him.

If it doesn't come off, I'd be a bit gutted, but still, hopefully Bruno is next in line

Mata & Young, there's a lot to be said for keeping some seasoned pros around. Jones is not a terrible backup defender and we could probably sell him for a few million if need be.

Even if they were poor choices, it doesn't mean that any good decisions we make now are invalid.
