Getting into the season with our current midfield options is utter stupidity. 50 million deadline bid for Longstaff incoming?

Great so we can instead end up with a net spend of what £60-80m, maybe less by the time you count further sales.

This transfer window has been on a knife edge and right now we are just getting cut!

The signings so far are good, but our midfield is seriously lacking quality and our forward line is seriously lacking creativity.

We need more ASAP!

Hope Ole isn't thinking that because he has signed a couple of defenders that will sort everything, not with a porous midfield in front of it. Also yesterday proved without Pogba we are fecked.

Oh dear this place is bubbling tonight. Just an accepted bid for pogba away from full on blowing.

I have to say I've been reasonably upbeat about our season all summer but our midfield is tosh. We need someone in the next few days to replace matic and someone creative.

Doesn't look like it's going to happen though.

Absolutely.

Luckhurst is way out of line for discriminating South Americans. United have had several with varying degrees of success and varying degrees of visible on pitch effort just like we've had from other continents.

Disgraceful writing in my opinion and shows a real lack of intelligence and basic understanding of football.

Call me cynical but I'm still not completely sure Juve were seriously intending to swap Dybala for Lukaku. More like they wanted to swap Mandzukic for Lukaku and pay say 50m.

Well... that’s great:lol:

No Dybala (correctly if he had doubts), no Bruno, and no Mandzukic but Lukaku could still leave.

However, according to Stone we’re looking at options. This will be an interesting few days.

How have we learnt anything?!? We could have signed Fernandes all summer. A week before the window closes we pursue Dybala. Which is a typical Woodward signing, trying to go for the unobtainable. We offer him stupid money and he still doesn’t want to come. Now it’s likely we are going to go back to the original plan. Fernandes should have been done months ago, a full preseason

How is Sanchez a coward and crying off out of interest?

Anyone who has watched him can see he's putting in the effort - he just dropped physically and can't keep the level anymore.

Throwing him in with Di Maria is totally wrong.

Kept getting little injuries last season and then happened to star in a film in Chile in his time off I think.

Sanchez may or may not be a coward, but he's definitely a mercenary who's head was turned by extra cash that Utd was throwing at him. Let's not forget, Chilean gave up the chance to win a PL medal for better financial package. That's a big red flag. But then, he still has his admirers here, they may disagree.

Was never keen on Dybala.. but surely we cant sell Lukaku without replacement..

I am all for keeping Lukaku for another season.. even as a squad player. He will get his chance, and is our best striker.

More concerned about our midfield..
Going into a season with Pogba and McT being our best/most consistent options is pretty bad.. Matic can have lows.. Fred is very inconsistent.. who else do we have? Periera.. We need at least 1 quality midfielder. and not even a Bruno.. a central midfielder.

I want to see people defend us not signing another player after Maguire this window. A player which should have been signed last summer.

We’re mugs.

I fear for the safety of Ed. This will not be taken lightly by many.

I'd have suggested Bentancur to Juve instead but according to the Caf all South Americans are money grabbing mercenaries.

Things appear to be unravelling here very quickly indeed.

Who exactly is on 'Ole's list' then in terms of adding goals and creativity? Because this list seems to have only consisted of Maguire and fecking Sean Longstaff.

I can see a meltdown coming here - we'll sell Lukaku at the last minute, for less than we originally wanted, and not a penny of it will be reinvested leaving our attack AND midfield worse than the atrocity we saw last season.

Now everyone is claiming "never wanted him" with regards to Dybala, what happens if he signs next week?

Do we boo him? Or were we collectively talking bollocks?

Tune in next week, to find out more on Redcafe - The Muppet Chronicles

Christ. "Encouraged by emerging options" What emerging options??! Minus greenwood, a frigging teenager, who else is ready to step up that wasn't part of last season's shitshow?

Feck you Ed
