La Stampa briefly mentions this as a possibility as well - last paragraph:
The eternal challenge between Inter and Juventus is inflaming the market. The two clubs do not seem to spare themselves provocations and mischief. Linked to a timeless rivalry, the two clubs only challenge each other for the biggest prizes, and this is exacerbated by the presence on both fronts of Beppe Marotta at Inter and his former pupil Fabio Paratici at Juve.
The two clubs now encircle Romelu Lukaku, Antonio Conte's main transfer objective, valued at 85 million by Manchester United and therefore considered unattainable by Inter, but closer to Juventus that can make a swap with Paulo Dybala. The advantage rests with Juve but twists and turns are not excluded from here until August 8 when the transfer market closes for the Premier League.
Dybala would not want to leave Turin, he had communicated this to the club hierarchy and he was hurt learning that he was on the market. In reality, Juve simply evaluates any bids received for any of its attackers, except Ronaldo who's untouchable. If Dybala had to move, he wouldn't have dreamt of the Premier League, which is too physical for his characteristics, he would definitely prefer La Liga. But there is a glimmer of hope, so much so that his agent Jorge Antun flew to London yesterday to discuss with United's top management of the Red Devils, who are willing to offer 8 million per year (the request is for 10).
[Note: since this Italian source, we are talking ANNUAL, EUROS and NET.]
Inter, which has offered 60 million for Lukaku - with the idea to go up to 70 million, has frozen negotiations - at least temporarily - and has diverted its gaze towards Edinson Cavani of Paris Saint-Germain, whose contract will expire in June 2020. Nasser Al-Khelaifi's club is asking for 50 million EUROS, a more affordable figure, but the Uruguayan earns 14 million per season in France and Inter are willing to go up to 10 million.
So far, so good. However, the issue remains Dybala's signature. The Argentine, expected tomorrow at the Continassa, before saying the last word wants to meet Maurizio Sarri and reaffirm his full willingness to play the "false nine" role. That's why, in this Milan-Turin-Manchester entanglement we must not exclude further surprises. Inter, pressed by Conte, who has no strikers and is aware of how hard it is to fill the gap ("In Italy there is a team called Juventus that has built so much and behind them it's Napoli, we Inter want to join the fray" said Conte a few days ago), is also looking towards Edin Dzeko: however, Roma has not responded to Inter because Roma is waiting to meet the entourage of Gonzalo Higuain, who is seen as first choice in case Dzeko departs.
This, however, is another story, parallel to the mystery novel intrigue in which Lukaku and Dybala are the main actors. Yet another story involves Mauro Icardi, another striker destined to set petroleum to the fire between Inter and Juventus: Icardi is unwanted by Conte, but Juve want him and so does Napoli. The price set is 80 million: no discounts, unless Dybala refuses United and decides to wear Inter's jersey.
