What Italian word keeps getting translated as 'important'?

There must be a better English equivalent for it. I'm guessing something like 'suitable' or 'competitive' or possibly even 'fair'.

Doesn't anyone on Twitter know how to use an Italian-to-English dictionary?
I guess it's "importante". If it's like in French it can mean big, sizeable.

People have moaned for years that we overpay and undersell, the club literally cannot win. I am much happier seeing us drive a hard bargain like everyone has done to us for years.
The club can win. By winning trophies. Then there would be nothing to moan about. That’s literally the point. The club can’t win because they’re keeping shite players and not buying good ones.

If we overpay massively once, every club will want us to overpay using that one transfer as a precedent. We already suffer from it and continuing overpaying will lead to disaster, even for a club of Utd's size.

Similarly, selling a valuable asset on the cheap, especially a CF who is in his prime and scores a decent amount of goals, plus someone another club so massively covets, would be foolishness of the extreme. Lukaku is just 26, even if we don't sell him this year, he'll still be a 27 year old internationally proven CF with 2 years of his contract left. He'll still fetch a decent prize next summer. We hold all the cards in this situation, why give up that advantage? It's not merely about 5-10 million, it's about the message you send to the other clubs too.
I don't know what cards exactly do we hold. Are we OK having a player who is clearly not in the manager's plans and is one of our top earners? We hold all the cards in Pogba's situation but definitely not with Lukaku unless we are fine to be stuck with him for another year.

Manchester United made contact with Moussa Dembélé's entourage several weeks ago. Solskjaer appreciates the player, whom he has personally supervised and placed on his short list. But MU is still waiting for exits before going on the offensive. Top scorer of the club last season, Moussa Dembélé does not necessarily close the door to a departure for OL this summer. (As a reminder, the English transfer window ends on August 8)

Perhaps because English-speaking audience is somewhat wider, no?

He works and is paid for the italian audience as a skysport Italia reporter. The wider audience can learn italian if they want italian sources.

Being stuck with him isn't the worst thing in the world. He'll still get goals and be a good back up option. And it's not like we are in desperate need to get wages off the books.

If he is really on the market and seems to me that he is, we should go all in for him. If they don't want Lukaku, just sell Lukaku to Inter for what they are offering and transfercthat money for Dybala. He is oerfect player for us.

Not happening of course

Fair enough, maybe he could have twitted in both languages then?)
Do you see major news outlets in the UK providing tweets in multiple languages? At least this fella has a member on his team who translates the news to English and posts it.

It has been a complaint amongst United fans even whilst we have won trophies in recent years. People taking issue with the practices of the club and winning are not mutually exclusive.

With Maguire skipping training and Di Mario saying this now, I think it's on the verge of happening. Whether you believe Di Mario or not, he had many chances over the past weeks to take a guess, and pretend he knew it was about to get over the finish line in a tweet, like all the other twitter clown sources did, but he didn't say anything and chose now to comment...... So I get the feeling it's on

A better translation of the Di Marzio tweet:

The long negotiation is about to give up white smoke: Harry Maguire is getting closer to Manchester United, the deal is closing. The Leicester defender has always made clear his desire to move to Manchester, so much so that today he has not even presented himself to the Foxes training sessions. His will is being respected, his transfer to the Reds is in fact being defined.

Sounds like song lyrics by Cake.

He sometimes tweets in English but mostly it's his staff of editors who do that, for instance Fab Romano or David Amoyal. And also these guys:

The 'shits' excuse seems to work for every profession.

I doubt Di Marzio is good friends with Harry Maguire or anything. That tweet smacks of someone jumping on the bandwagon in order to stay relevant.

If this transfer finally happens it's going to be huge, so he needs to sound like be knows what's going on.

I trust him in Italian transfers and players with links to Italy. But English players with a recent history in the lower leagues? Nah, I'm not convinced there's anything substantial to his particular take on the story.
